And that's how NJ dominated through the 90's as well. Brodeur was good, but it was the system that made him elite. -

A bit, but Green still wasn't a big systems coach, he was all about energy and momentum and being "hard to play against". He was better with defensive play, but not a ton imo No argument on what they need, but they have enough talent that they'd be in the playoff mix with any kind of structured play in their own end -

Lifetime, it's up when he's 34, still easily in a dmans sweet spot. No issue with that and they'd have to pay someone to fill that spot and that would cost as much, or more ........if they could even get one. Myers, done after next season, not much effect on their competitive window and Myers is absolutely tradable next year Aside from OEL, most of JB's deals were set to expire as Petey and Hughes come into their prime and take over. To me, that sounds like the work of a guy who has a plan and timeline. The sudden flat cap made it tough on him, but nothing he did would have much negative effect on the timeline to compete for the Petey core. -

Again, all the more reason to have a structured system and disciplined play. Ive seen coaches do a lot better with a lot worse because of the system they use. That's good exactly why systems are used, to even out the playing field for low talent teams -

I agree completely, but he was a big part of the problem and once demko wasn't there to cover the warts, the truth was revealed. Great guy, great career, he just wasn't the right coach for this team and his heart clearly wasn't in it this season, right from camp -

Buy 50/50 for the Abby Canucks, half the proceeds go to Canucks for kids -
It isn't and it's all speculation driven by media and fans who need an easy scapegoat.

The defense is only as good as the system the coach deploys. A well defined structured system is the equalizer, it is meant for teams (or dcorps) that are the lower end of the talent scale. A strong, structured system takes the onus off the individual player and truly makes it a team game. That's what makes small countries like Finland so successful on the international stage, they overcome individual short comings with a strong team game. -

What big mess? The one that needed two easy, obvious moves to fix? The one that would have resolved itself in a year regardless? The mess is on this regime, not the old one. -

Exactly When a team plays a strong, structured system they work as one organism, always knowing where everyone is within that structure. When you get the puck, you know where your teammates are going to be, you don't have to guess and you know you e got support. Players don't cheat and they don't cut corners because if one player cheats it all breaks down. BB has never been a systems coach and that's the main reason he's not particularly successful in the playoffs..........you don't win with offense, you win with defense and successful teams play strong, disciplined team defense. Can you really watch this team play in their own end and tell me that the coach has any kind of cohesive, coherent defensive system of play? They're all over the place, fwds cheat like crazy, leaving their dmen in no man's land with little to no puck support shift after shift after shift. watch Abbotsford, they play a very disciplined, very structured system and the difference between the two clubs is very obvious. -

With the fire power this team has, cutting their goals against will allow them to win significantly more games........I'm pretty confident they'd be in the playoff conversation, if not in a playoff spot. Don't be fooled by the complete lack of defensive structure.........they're not nearly as bad as they seem. It's much more circumstance than ability, or lack thereof. There's nothing more important to success than strong systems -
Gilbert threw a suspension worthy elbow to the head of Karlsson and AKzl best the ever loving shite out of him........AKL's second fight of the game. This kid can fight Obviously they messed up the time in the box score

A few things JB should have kept Toffoli and traded Boeser for a dman TG playing favourites and misusing younger players. JT Miller taking off and his ego along with it JB hanging onto TG too long The new regime saying words and taking no action. Not trading miller and boeser last tdl Not doing their homework and basing all their decisions on last year's run Prioritizing Miller or Bo Signing Miller and Boeser Spending on fwds and ignoring defense Everything that's happened this year
