  1. and some fans understand that the owner is exactly that......the owner of a business and he's got every right to run it the way he wants. You might not like the way he runs it, but he spares no expense and truly does want to win. It could be, and has been, a lot lot worse.
  2. well, I had a long post written out, then the chromebook died and I lost it, so here's the abridged version Van Miller Carolina Jarvis- he's the sweetener for taking KK. Smaller winger, but dynamic and makes other wingers expendable KK - cap and doing Carolina a favour. That said, he's only 22 and still developing. Good 3C and might up his value as an asset. 1st - in the 25-32 range likely, but could be packaged to move up. Van Miller Detroit Suter, expiring contract to make it more palatable Kasper - the real prize. Decent sized, 8th overall pick, depth down the middle for a long time. 1st - probably in the 20 range. Should be good dmen in that spot, or packaged to move up Van Miller Washington Eller - expiring contract Iorio - local (coquitlam), big, young solid 2way RD.....exactly the kind of player they need. Maybe have to include woo or rathbone? 1st - 15-20 range probably Van Miller NJ Severson - cap, but might be a good re-sign candidate depending on his ask Nemec - swng for the fences, but probably untouchable or Mercer - makes them very deep down the middle, and Mercer is more like a 2B and getting better
  3. that's a whole different discussion and I'm on the fence because they have made some good, smaller moves.
  4. to me, the goal is to balance the roster and bring in guys within the right timeline......KK is only 22 and though I agree about the term, if they can get him playing well then he's still got a couple years before a M-NTC kicks in, they could probably move him if they need to. Again, it would be the sweetener that would be the main piece.......KK would be a wash with Miller, one favour for another and it still frees up over $3m a year.
  5. One thing about swedes and Finn's is that they are all well trained 200ft players and that was one of the things about his game that made him a high pick. I think it would be a gamble, but if the sweetener was good enough, I'd probably bite. Carolina has some good, young assets
  6. I would be ok bringing KK in if Carolina made a good enough offer. I think KK's career is salvageable and the Canucks would need a good 3C.
  7. He would likely have to be one of the pieces coming back. The good part of that is they'd likely be giving a great sweetener to do it. He's also not a lost cause yet and might be a good 3c behind Petey and horvat
  8. I don't think so, miller is more valuable and he also doesn't have any kind of ntc........oel had two teams he'd go to and that hamstrings everything
  9. If they plan on keeping miller and boeser, horvat and Kuz are gone.......tyen next year probably Petey, Hughes, demko
  10. There's teams out there that can do it. There would definitely be some cap coming bad, no question........hopefully some of it expiring.
  11. Well, they've got to make two deals, at the very least.
  12. I dont think so, they've got to make that many deals one way or the other......let's just hope they make the smart ones
  13. 3 smart trades, goodd usevof cap space and a coaching change and theyre back on track, imo.
  14. I agree that he's moveable as is. Miller is a top level player that could very much be a piece to put a team into contender status. To me, Washington and Carolina are the likeliest candidates.
  15. Id still rather keep him. He and Petey have great chemistry and that's not to be dismissed so easily. I think they'll wait to the last minute to see if they can make other moves.
  16. I think he can be a decent bottom pairing guy, maybe even a 2nd unit pp guy. He's a good skater and is pretty decent in the ozone. There's enough there that I don't see it as a complete throw away of a 2nd rounder
  17. For me, it's just more evidence at how imbalanced the roster is and how crucial it is that they make the right moves, this season, to fix that
  18. I'm not saying they shouldn't reconstruct their third line, or any line for that matter. I'm just saying you can't just rely on two lines for offense and two lines for defensive play. You need string 200ft games from every line
  19. I agree, though I think the lion's share of that falls on poor coaching and poor defensive systems or lack thereof. All lines, imo, should be made up of good 200ft players.
  20. You need three lines that can score to be successful these days. Doesn't mean they cant be hard to play against, but they still have to contribute significant offense
