[PGT] Anaheim Ducks at Vancouver Canucks | Mar. 08, 2023

I tend to think so too. Though I think Reinbacher would be a great pick, I think Moore would fill a big need for this team, a good 2C. Raty might be that guy, but he's also good enough defensively to be an excellent defensive C as well. Moore is probably the best skater in the draft and in this NHL, speed kills. -

If they end up 9-11, they'll likely go a bit off board and take Reinbacher, I agree. As I've said, Moore would also be a great pick at that spot too and they need C as much (or more) than d. -

It's certainly possible, but I'm also guessing Stevie Y uses some of those prospects to fill in other gaps. He's drafted a good core, that's for sure, but so did JB. It's finding the right support players to put around that core that's the challenge and that isn't usually done ne via draft. Van was in a similar situation as Det and Det will get to the point that Van is at now. Good GM's get them past that spot by using assets they've acquired or with draft picks to find the right support players for that core.......aka re-tooling -

Every team re-tools on the McFly. This year it down and build solely with draft picks is a myth -

Things were going decently well with TG, but for whatever reason, things went off the rails and what was left was a young team with no direction. I have a lot of respect for BB as a coach, but he was the absolute wrong coach for this group. Though they had a great run last year, it was pretty obvious that it was propped up by great goaltending, so it was no surprise when it fell apart this year. I also think that this management group dumped a huge amount of disrespect on a good coach right from the off season and it was very clear in BB's body language that his heart was not in it this season and players tap into that negative energy. Ultimately BB needs a disciplined, veteran team that doesn't need a lot of coaching, this was not the team for that kind of coach. Now, we can see players who have been sh!t on all year starting to look better as players buy into this system and that's not remotely surprising because defense is an all or nothing venture. If your fwds don't play right defense and your goaltending sucks, your dmen are going to be the ones who look bad and take the brunt of responsibility. OEL will be back to being a solid dman in this system, imo. -

OEL will be around for at least two more seasons, imo. It will be easier to move him or buy him out at that point. His game will be fine under this system, same as Myers. I think all the "Bruce there it is" crowd really couldn't understand how bad his coaching was in Van. -

Hoglander has one game left before he loses waiver exempt status.......he isn't coming back up and they've already completely depleted the Abby roster......that team still has to play games and stay in the playoff mix. -

Put Wilanin into BB's lack of defensive system and see. That's how you would compare. -

What is it you're expecting the coaches and players to do, exactly? -

Most have reinbacher in the mid teens and that's probably more accurate, as there are too many high end fwds ahead of him to rank him higher. That said, I could see Vsn taking him or ASP at 10ish -

Or ASP, whomever they think is better. Oliver Moore should be there too, best skater in the draft and a C -

I agree, though I think bedard will be a franchise player, I'm note sure he's going to be a Crosby or McD, but he will be paid like one. In no way am I saying I wouldn't be over the moon with Van winning the lottery, but there are a ton of franchise, top line players in the top 15. After that it comes down to development and luck
-
Likewise.........I understand the philosophy behind it, but the reality is both coaches and players are going to do everything they can to win every game from here on out. Management runs the tank and they've done what they can to sink the ship, short of shipping out main players. Really, there's not much left to complain about for the tank. With a better coach and demko back, they simply aren't a bad team and I'm tired of not feeling good about this team. The other part of the argument is I don't think they were ever going to bad enough to fall into the bottom 4-5 and after 5, it's a bit of a crap shoot in the draft and by picking later, they will definitely get one of the two top dmen in the draft without going too far off board........I doubt anyone would be unhappy with that
