  1. To be fair, Niskanen came out of nowhere at top speed......Sutter didn't really stand a chance. I don't think it was Suts' best game, but there wasn't much he could do there.
  2. I've been playing/coaching for 45 years and I've never seen that not be a penalty shot.
  3. Both BB and Petey Are standing still and holding on to the puck like they are expecting the perfect lane to open up if they just hang onto it a second longer. As I thought last season, the Petey/Brock experiment is not an overly successful one.
  4. Haha, what? I loved Bert, but he was a total floater.
  5. The thing that puts Grading ahead is his work with the org after his playing days were over.
  6. What exactly did Bertuzzi accomplish to get the ROH, let alone his # retired? No chance they ROH Bert before Mo, imo.
  7. Agreed, he wasn't a player that would intend for that outcome. However, that's how it worked out and it will always be a stain on a pretty solid career
  8. As Canuck fans, strong teams in Alberta is a good thing. It pushes the Canucks to be better and brings much much more meaning to games. I really hope the three Canadian teams start dominating the Pacific again
  9. There's never been fewer cheap shots and dirty plays in the league than there is now........not even close.
  10. Again, people tend to romanticize his time in Van........a cpl great seasons, but also a lot of floating and underwhelming play with little to no emotion. I find it ironic that the people who deride Jake seem to have love for Bert, even though almost the exact same complaints thrown at JV were thrown at Bert. Doesn't hit as much as he should for a big guy Low hockey IQ Has all the tools, but not the drive Etc etc etc. I love the WCE era, but if Mo isn't in the ROH, then Bert definitely shouldn't be.
  11. There's no rationalizing what he did, sorry. It's a mark he can never get rid of and there's no point arguing about it. I was happy to see him skate out on the ice on Wednesday.
  12. I do think people tend to romanticize his time in Van..........he was one of the laziest, under motivated players that has played in Van. He was a frustrating player to cheer for because he would dominate for awhile and then disappear. And he was clinically allergic to backchecking and defense. That said, until "the incident" I did like having him play in Van.
  13. I had, and still have, a lot of issues around the way Bert's time in van ended. However, it was so good to see him skate out there and see the reaction the from the fans. It did go a long way for me in kind of letting it go.
  14. completely disagree, hits and physical battle brings people out of their seats a lot more than skill does. I don't care about staged fighting, or even fighting for that matter, but people want to see battles, not rec league hockey
  15. I agree completely, they've taken the more exciting, human aspect out of the game. I still enjoy it, but there's not much emotion anymore.
  16. loved seeing Dennis Kearns out there, one of my favourite Canucks d of all time. Too bad Lindgren or Ohlund couldn't have been involved!
  17. To me it seems like it's pretty clear that MF isn't close to 100% healthy. That said, he's looked a little better each game.
