  1. Green knows exactly what Virt brings and sees him as an important element on the team. That said, it wouldn't be out of character for green to send a message by sitting him for a game, regardless if it's justified or not
  2. Actually, that's debatable, though he's never going to be an offensive dman
  3. To me, he's looked like an NHL dman this pre-season
  4. It's not impossible that you see them together this season........id say Hughes was definitely outplayed by Breezer and if they "can't" send AG down because he earned, the same should hold true for Breezer.
  5. I don't QH has earned a spot, at all. He shows spurts of brilliance, for sure, but I'm not sure he's a regular NHL dman yet.
  6. If we're being completely honest.......if Gaudette has earned a spot, then so has Breezer. He's played better than Biega and Stretcher and probably as good or better than QH.
  7. If he gets sent down, he's far from the first to outplay other players and still get sent down and he's far from the last. There's nothing wrong with paying his dues. If he makes it, great, as long as they don't sacrifice depth to keep him.
  8. There'll be injuries, as there always is. If he ends up in Utica all season, how does that hurt him?
  9. He played well, for sure. I just think both he and the org are better served with him in Utica, to start at least. I've been on the Gaudette train from draft Day, so obviously I want to see him in Van, but I also want to see him play big mins, at centre.
  10. It's not goign to hurt anything to send AG down and show that he can produce that way in meaningful games and be the go to guy. That will up his value significantly.........he's not going to get that chance in Van
  11. IMO, this team isn't at the gambling stage yet, they need stability and the dcorp still needs some support from it's fwd group. Do you feel the dcorpr is strong enough to support three lines that focus on offense? I don't. Any team that gets into the playoffs can go on a run.
  12. It's an option, but I think fully developing him as a top 6 cman increases his value even more. Ultimately, I think AG is moved in the next two seasons.
  13. AG has definitely played well, but he's had some not so stellar plays as well. Truly though, AG came in with a goal in mind and he was only going to achieve that by going balls to the wall. Established guys don't have that motivation in the pre-season, do it's hard to compare, imo. If I am JB and I have a plan for how I want my team to look and play coming out of the off season, I ask myself has AG really done enough for me to abandon that plan completely? For me, as thrilled as I am with AG, I still stick with my plan.
  14. Who goes Sutter face off against compared to Gaudette?
  15. If they're going to push for the playoffs I believe they'll want to run a tweener third line, with Sutter, that can chip in but leans much more to the defensive side. More importantly, a more defensive third line means Bo focuses more on offense. If they move Sutter, then Bo is back to taking a LOT of faceoffs and a good chance no of them in the defensive zone. What if Beagle gets hurt and you don't have Sutter?
  16. I agree with that somewhat, in style only, not db-ness. I don't think he'll match Kes' defensive acumen though
  17. Gaudette has a long, long way to go before he can fill Sutter's role, just based on faceoffs alone
  18. I was referring to AG, it's not going to hurt to keep him reined in in Utica. If anything, it might push him to prove they made the wrong choice, that seems consistent with his character. I actually think LE looked not too bad in pre-season, he's certainly been solid on the pk and he's been on the ice for a few chances here and there and put up a few points. I'm not saying he's going to crack the top 9, but he hasn't been bad, all things considered.
  19. a three circle venn diagram.......that's some good teacher talk right there!
  20. as I come from a horse racing background, that's actually completely untrue and holding a horse back that wants to open up is [probably the most common strategy. You rein him in, keep him at the back of the pack until the last leg of the race and then you let him go after the rest of the pack has tired out.
  21. or just maybe the start of the regular season is the catalyst. I swear people think the Cup is handed out at the end of September
