I'm not arguing that, I've been on the Gaud train since he was drafted. I'd just rather see im getting huge mins in a top line cman role than stuck in the bottom 6 playing 10-12 mins a night. There's a very good chance that AG will be moved in the next year or two, as there's no spot for him as a top 6 cman in Vancouver. If he goes to Utica, and they develop him as a top line cman and he tears the league up, he becomes a very very valuable chip to play. He's been excellent in pre-season, no doubt.

I'd rather see him getting 20 mins a night in all situations in Utica and developing as a true top 6 cman.
-
where's he going to play?
-
where is Gaudette going to play? Wouldn't you rather see him get huge mins in Utica as a #1 cman?
-
I think so too, but this team is trying to get to the playoffs and they have a loooong history with injuries. By keeping Gaudette they'd be trying to pass someone through waivers who'd likely get claimed and that would be one less call up in case of injury. Gaud has earned it, for sure, but sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture

fair point, but over 82 games he would have hit at least 30 points, playing bottom 6 mins with not great offensive linemates, with overwhelming d zone starts and no PP time. -

he's pretty much already there, and for a nice, cheap contract too. -

I'd bet my bottom dollar coaches would look at a red hot Canucks PP, even in pre-season and factor that into their coaching adjustment over a canucks team that tries to exact revenge for a hit. -
elbow and shoulder pads not made out of hard plastic is where I'd start.

zero chance, imo

agree to disagree. Nothing better than scoring on the pp, even if fans don't get their bloodlust satiated -

you have to admit, he doesn't pull a ton of that stuff anymore.......they couldn't afford to have him in the box or out of the lineup that much. -

The things people complain about with jake are the same things people complained about with Bert, not sure that would be a good fit. I wouldn't be upset about a jake trade, for his sake.......the team would regret it immediately, I'm sure. -

That's exactly what it was and Petey and Bo made him pay for it. -

haha, good ol Marchand. If he wasn't a star, he'd be out of the league and he's mostly cleaned himself up. -

As I've said, you will never get rid of dirty hits and theres never been fewer dirty plays than there is now -

That simply isn't the way the league is now. Of course things do happen, but players who do that intentionally, ala Cooke/Avery, have been eliminated from the league. -
there is, literally, nothing anyone could do to stop a hit like that, or any other play. The hyperbole is strong with you

I understand what you're saying, but this idea that players followed a code and never slashed players in the hands is a total and complete myth. Hockey was never cleaner than it is now and the stick work is a shadow of what it was back in the days of this supposed code. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see fighting and hitting brought back into the game, but it's gone and not likely to return. As far as injuries go, I'd say the bulk of can be attributed to better diagnosis, ridiculous equipment that is so hard you could probably kill someone with it, and the fact that players are kept out of the lineup for the slightest injuries. -

That's not how the game is played anymore, plain and simple. They want jake on the ice, not in the penalty box. I'm not saying I like it, just that's the reality of the league now. -

so you're mad because he's being coached to be a good, skilled hockey player?
