  1. I understand and see the logic there. However, they have the luxury of developing him as a top 6 an in Utica and a developed top 6 cman is an awfully valuable chip to have in a year or two if there's no spot in Vancouver for him.
  2. Well, he's not competing against Goldy, who is top 6 or he's gone. He's not going to quit and he is going to make that $ for the next three years regardless of where he is. Truthfully, they'll probably loan him to Dallas' farm club to be closer to his home base, so he wouldn't even be helping out the kids in Utica. I know some just really want him gone, but the hard reality is, unless they can move him he's probably in Van for this season, at least.
  3. I get what you're saying, but I don't think FA and JB see it that way and that's one of the benefits to being a vet.......you've earned the benefit of the doubt by paying your dues.
  4. I don't think anyone is thinking that, just that he's legitimately earning a spot on the roster. If it were any other player, people would be thrilled with a 4th liner putting up numbers and playing well
  5. No way Gaudette is in van in October and he hasn't outplayed LE, and Motte definitely hasn't. As I said, I'm no LE cheerleader, but I am pretty objective and he's produced in pre-season, he's been solid on special teams and 5v5. I just don't see than anyone he's competing with has overly outplayed him yet and I'm prettty sure FA isn't going to want to pay him $6m to play in Utica. I think they'll play him more, showcase a bit more and try to move him before Rous comes back.
  6. he's been pretty unnoticeable in the pre-season so far, though I think he's feeling pretty secure and is just easing into it.
  7. I think he's a pretty beloved player and many have him pencilled in. That said, he's been outplayed by a few players here in the pre-season.
  8. I've always wondered why TG doesn't use Jake on the pk as he did use him on it a bit in Utica, if I remember correctly. He's got the right skill set for it.
  9. it's been the same competition for all the players, so it's a level field.
  10. I'm no huge fan of LE, but I don't really get the "checked out" label that's been put on him and the numbers (aside from offense) don't really bear that out. He was pretty solid, defensively all year and to pinpoint one player who faltered down the stretch is a bit of a false flag because they all crapped out down the stretch, Petey included. That said, I agree they give him some decent ice and opportunity before Xmas in an attempt to showcase him for a deal.
  11. some kind of move is going to have to be made when Rous gets back, for sure. Ideally, LE plays well and they can work out some kind of hockey deal with him involved.
  12. I think you should probably prepare yourself for being disappointed
  13. well, his play has been good and he's produced some offense. What have the "hungry" guys done. The big push against him is he doesn't produce, so he shouldn't be in the lineup.......well, he's producing in pre-season, so shoiuldn't he be in the lineup?
  14. while I understand the visceral reaction to his contract, it's actually got zero relevance on fans, other than to fuel unwarranted hatred of a decent player. He is a solid bottom 6 who can fill in anywhere in the lineup and is very good o the pk........can't we just be happy about that? He's doing exactly what people wanted him to do, earn his way onto the team.
  15. agree completely about AG, he's going to be a good one and I love watching him
  16. his contract is completely irrelevant to anyone but FA and JB. He is a bottom 6 player and he's a pretty good one and those are the only players he has to outplay, which he is for the most part.
  17. Gaudette had some chances, scored a beauty, but he also handled the puck like a grenade..........he's somewhat close, but he's not NHL ready yet. Eriksson was solid last night, as he has been all pre-season.
  18. agree completely.........I'd be fine with sautner taking over Biega's role on the team. Biega's had a good run and made a god name for himself, I'd bet they could find a place for him on another team.
  19. I think that's exactly what you want in a #7-8 dman.........I think they'd probably want Rafferty in Utica playing much bigger mins than sitting in the pressbox. If they do keep one of the Utica dmen, I'd have to think it would be Breezer, not Rafferty
  20. For all peoples whining, Loui had been quietly solid and contributing offensively this pre-season. Last night he out up two points and was excellent on both PP and PK. WTF do you people want him to do? I thought it was all about "earning a spot"? Or does that apply to everyone but LE? Personally, if he earns a spot I just don't see FA wanting to pay him $6m to play in Utica, especially when it barely saves the team cap space. If he's outplayed, then fine, but to this point he hasn't been.
  21. Ferland Petey Boeser Pearson Bo Miller Baer Sutter Virtanen LE Beagle Motte Leivo
  22. that's the best case scenario, for sure.
