dmen getting pucks to the net has been the biggest achilles heel for the Canucks dmen, imo. I welcome that from OJ, with open arms

I think fitness/skill coaches is the most likely role they take in the organization. Imagine them imparting their wisdom, experience and commitment around fitness onto the next gen?
-
that was known as the dead puck/trap era. Putting up 90 points then, fighting through that kind of defence and interference at 37 is pretty amazing.
-
no argument here
-
it's certainly far less entertaining.
-
additionally, let's see McDavid deal with the brutal physical beating that Gretzky had to deal with every single game he played......and the interference
-
his brain and vision is what made him better than everyone else. He wasn't a great skater by any stretch. McDavid would also have to play with heavy bricks on his feet and heavy pieces of lumber in his hands.......and off season training? Barely at all. Let Gretz play with light skates and sticks that allow weak players to shoot like supermen and see what happens. No one ever played with the vision that Gretzky played with, and likely never will. He is as untouchable an athlete as there is

I hate when people make era comparisons without taking equipment and training methods into account. Gretz would still outclass the league, by a mile, if he played now. He might not get 213 points in a season, but he would be the perennial leader in scoring.

I'd say EP is probably 2-3 years from even being tried at C

that's a great quote.

don't see why they wouldn't bring him and OJ over

My vote would be Utica, to help the org and to develop chemistry and a bond with future teammates. That said, the WHC is huge for Euro's so I'd understand if he chose that route.

Is there enough offensive depth to take some of the pressure off that line though? The matchups are going to be far far beyond anything he's ever experienced. I think that Boes and EP need to be on different lines, to avoid opposing teams from loading up a checking line to go against them.
-
Jesus, is it possible that this kid might really be this good? I suppose a lot of his ability to transition to the NHL will ride on the makeup of the team. Is he going to have skilled enough players to, not only play with, but who will be able to take some matchups away from him?

Good God

Rarely do I agree with you, but I'm completely with you on Gaunce. He's developing into a very effective player.

You make a great point that really tends to get lost when talking about what JB has done. His hands were almost completely tied throughout this entire process and he was still able to rebuild, not just the Canucks (injuries aside), but the entire organization. I can truly see a David Poile kind of tenure here for JB. Imagine what he can do now that he's gaining assets and free of the many restrictions that bound his first 4 years?
-
Petterson would be at least 7 years away form even remotely being considered for a letter. This line of discussion is beyond ridiculous.

those days are over, there's a reason the Pens parted company
-
I have to think Kane is at the top of the list.
-
Yeah, that's a bit of a big ice goal, for sure. He won't get that kind of time or space in NA, but his release is so quick he'll still score on that play
-
The team is still a part of the Canucks org and should be filled with as many organizational players as possible. I agree chemistry could be an issue.

That kid lives over the shoulders

A hamhuis/Salo hybrid would be beautiful.
