  1. I watched 40+ Comets games last year and he played the same way from mid January on
  2. yeah, nvm, I forgpt he played that many games in his first season
  3. yet the other rookie scored just as much and plays a more complete game and no one talks about him for the Calder.......which is probably a good thing.
  4. That's the thing the people who have been bashing him for so long just don't get........it's not this training camp or pre-season, he played this way most of last year, but all they do is stat watch rather than listen to the people who were actually watching him play.
  5. I watched pretty much every game he played and he carried that team on his shoulders. They had no business even being in the playoff conversation had Demko not been almost unbeatable.
  6. I say wait the three years and don't cut him any breaks.......if he wants to use the KHL as leverage out of Van, he can suffer. If he's happy to come back to Van before that, awesome.
  7. Very short sighted thinking on Try's part and you have to wonder what kind of bonehead his agent must be. He's never going to come close to making the same kind of $ he would in the NHL. I was/am a huge fan of NT, but he clearly has an entitlement issue and maybe the org is better off without him. Wait out his three year contract, and then move him if they get the chance.
  8. Every coach is like that. If you can't play passable defense, at least, you don't play. Period.
  9. it's not his job to judge the coach. It's his job to go out and work hard every shift
  10. that's exactly why the kids need to start in Utica.
  11. You lost me at pre-season rookie of the year nominations
  12. I think McEneny is a lock for top 4 in a cpl years. I'm not sure about Chatfield.......he's got to hone his survival instincts before he gets knocked out of a career. He's taken some mammoth hits in pre-season
  13. I think that both Biega and Pedan could get claimed. If that's the case, I'd rather it be Pedan than Biega as the bulldog is a better player and much more versatile. I think if anyone claims Pedan, it will be short term and will try to send him down, at which point I think Van gets first crack
  14. I agree completely. This is the best case scenario for both parties. I figured he was going to stick because of waivers, but that one more year in Utica would be best for him. A year of PP development and they might just have a decent qb ready to go next season. It will interesting to see how the chips land for those last spots. Will they go 2d-1fwd 2fwd-1d 1fwd-1d-biega Its been awhile since there's been this much competition for almost every spot, it's been fun to follow!
  15. That's huge and a massive win for the Comets.
  16. I don't know, I think they believe that Burmistrov can be a real contributor, offensively. I don't see them letting him go, not early on anyway.
  17. Guess we're about to find out. Its going to be a big blow if he gets poached in the next 24 hrs
  18. I love Biega, but it's a no brainer for me and I think Biega might make it through. Boucher is probably 50/50
  19. Though I think they'll try and get Boucher through, I don't think anyone is expendable if they hope to be a playoff team. Losing anyone, at this point will be a negative. I don't think Boucher makes it through waivers, but I'd obviously rather lose him than McEneny.
  20. I don't know about likely JR........I can't imagine 30 teams passing on a 23 year old dman who was heads and tails the best dman on Utica last season, can play pp and pk and has looked rock solid in pre-season. If he were a cpl years older, maybe, but he's a free prospect ready to break into the NHL for some team of they put him on waivers. I think they send down Boucher and go with 13 fwds and 8d if that's the case, and then try and make a move at some point.
  21. He'll get good chunks of time in both places I would think. I hope they avoid the temptation of slotting him into a bottom 6 spot in Van just because he could be successful there. I want him to continue to focus on his skill and offensive abilities and being a top line player in Utica (to start) is the place to do that
  22. Well that's pretty much the sole reason for keeping Boeser in Van, is it not? His skating is avg, his first three steps below avg, defensively below avg (at this point) and he gives the puck away quite a lot in the defensive and neutral zone. Those are all things that can be remedied with training and practice time, neither of which he'll get in Van. I guess I have a higher standard for what I want Boeser to become. I want him to reach his full potential and become a true impact player, you're happy with a more one dimensional scorer. We'll just agree to disagree
