  1. Well, it is a development league. I get that it's easy for some to get distracted by goals though.
  2. Those same fans couldn't see JB's plan until it slapped them in the face this year.
  3. Since when is letting prospects develop holding them back? What bad thing is going to happen to Boes and Jake if they start in Utica? I'll give you a hint.......absolutely nothing.
  4. It's that mindset that has sunk 3 of the last 4 Seasons. Depth is the key to success in the NHL. Boucher might clear, maybe, but no way do Rodin and Burm
  5. No chance Burmistrov clears waivers......none.
  6. He played this way from Jan on last season and I'm confident he'll continue on the same trajectory of he goes back to Utica. The difference is he had zero offensive players to play with last year and this season he will have offensive support.
  7. Megna and Chaput are in Utica regardless of where Boes ends up. He's in competion with Jake, Granlund, Vanek, Gagne, Burmistrov for a top 9 RW spot.
  8. If the waiver exempt players are significantly better, in all zones, I agree. But injuries and lack of depth have killed too many seasons for this club in the last 5 years and JB shouldn't be quick to risk that depth. He's made a public committment to Utica and that means giving them an exciting product on the ice every night.
  9. I agree, but that's how he played in Utica for a good chunk of the year.
  10. There's still nowhere in the top 9 for him to play this season. He was the best player on the ice, outside of Markstrom, but being waiver exempt he's got to be miles better than the guys he's up against and I think that's going to be a hard sell. But, man, he looked good tonight
  11. I couldn't be happier to see Jake give media and fan base a big FU.
  12. Though they don't necessarily play a similar style, I think that's a great comparison.
  13. awesome man, thanks a lot for that. Look forward to hearing more from you
  14. and it sucks drafting a kid at 18 and then having to sit for 2 years before he's even eligible to play pro hockey.
  15. I'm not sure he will see any NHL action this year. With the signings of Del Zotto and Wiercoch, that bumps a few other guys down to the AHL. Pedan and Biega will, alost surely be in Utica and be the first call ups. McEneny (depending on his camp) will likely start in Vancouver (waivers) and if not, will definitely be the first call up. I was very impressed with JC, but there's no need to throw him into a high pressure situation this season. I know people are crying about the vet signings that JB made, but this is why......to let the kids develop without pressure.
  16. at this point I'd say its pretty much a foregone conclusion that he, Goldy, Boes and Dahlen will be starting in Utica, which is how it should be. All 4 of them need to play significant mins in offensive situations, imo. Playing 10 mins a night on the 4th line in Van does nothing for his development
  17. If you go into the Comets thread from last year, you would see most people were pleased with his effort and compete level most nights. The numbers don't show it, but he was pretty consistent last year
  18. Great tourney for Both Gadj and Lind
  19. some guys are just late bloomers.......that's why I really wish it was a 20 yr old draft. Late bloomers get a chance to show, JR clubs benefit from keeping guys until they are done JR and drafted players can go right to their pro careers as soon as they are drafted.
  20. The lack of offense was too bad, but was, mainly, due to the fact that there just was the depth to counteract all the call ups that left Utica as a borderline ECHL team. as for jake's performance, we just see things differently. On most nights his line spent the majority of their shifts in the offensive zone......of course he had off games, but everyone does and shouldn't be used as a means to judge his season as whole. I consider last years season an unqualified step forward for Virtanen
  21. I thought he played a lot like Stetcher actually. Let's see if he jumps over Subban in the depth chart the way Stetch and McEneny did.
  22. why can't they have both Gaunce and MacEwan?
  23. I watched almost every Utica game from December on and jake was a force in almost every one. Did it translate into points? Nope and that was the disppointing thing because it makes it seem like he was an impact player, when on most nights he was.
