  1. Virtanen does score most of his goals off the rush. However his skating, shot, physicality, etc are A+. He has the technical ability. The rest can be coached. I'm not saying the Canucks need to take him, but I wouldn't be disappointed if they did.
  2. I wouldn't mind but it would need to be for the right price, and I suspect we'd have to overpay by quite a bit.
  3. You're right. So lets ignore this draft completely. The Canucks should not even bother showing up and just focus on next year.
  4. Just do what the rest of us do and ignore him.
  5. Someone bitching about how awful the fanbase is. What a revolutionary topic. Yup, spot on.
  6. A prospect has to be extremely heavy for it to start to affect their play style. Adding muscle only helps them not be pushed around by other teams.
  7. I wouldn't mind Virtanen. Though I'm still counting on one of the top 5 to fall. Seriously though, how many draft threads do we need?
  8. Well according to CDC Ehlers is going to break every NHL record and have a 50 year iron man streak so I guess there isn't a reason
  9. Solid contribution. Thanks for the input.
  10. I love how you chalk up any one who disagrees with you to never having played hockey before, then go on and say he isn't a good skater despite every scouting report out there disagreeing with you, because you watched a couple highlight videos.
  11. Those who live in glass houses... And I didn't know you worked for the team. Might explain the shoddy draft record so far.
  12. Regardless, AV needed to go. He had become stagnant. Even great coaches have an expiry date. Besides, it was pretty frustrating to see him have no solution when other teams dissected his strategy.
  13. Virtanen, Ehlers, Ritchie, Fleury, Perlini, w.e. I'd be happy with most of the picks we could make at 6. I just favour Virtanen because he seems to be superb on a technical and physical level, and can be coached to improve his weak spots (vision, hockey IQ, w.e). However I also understand that nobody has a crystal ball and can tell how well these players will turn out. Its funny though how many people watch a highlight video and think they're a scout and the team should listen to them.
  14. He can be taught a better understanding of the game which will improve hockey sense. And you can say we can't draft a third liner with the 6th overall pick, but I'll take a third liner over someone not in the NHL.
  15. I wouldn't mind taking Virtanen. Fantastic shot. Fantastic skater. Built to play in the west. The knock on him is his hockey sense. That can be coached, the physical attributes not so much. I'm still hoping for one of the top 5 to fall.
  16. Fantastic signing. As much focus as there is on Sherman, Thomas really is the lynchpin of that Defense. Absolute beast.
  17. And a cultural mosaic is a stupid idea, because it just creates a schism in society. A cultural melting pot is one where all cultures are integrated. A mosaic is where everyone sticks to their own kind. Having those kind of differences really isn't good for society.
  18. The oil entices people to move there over other Canadian cities not because Calgarians are nicer or somehow more respectful people. I know quite a few people who have moved out there because of the money to be made. I just think its funny that you chalk it up to "Leftism".
  19. Or maybe its because theres so much money pumping through Calgary due to the oil boom. I also think its funny that you chalked it up to 'Leftists'
  20. Calgary still is redneck. Its not really any more of a melting pot than Van or T.O., just more white.
  21. Hence the term 'melting pot'. Its a collection of cultures mixed together to create a single whole, as opposed to individual, specific ones occupying the same space.
  22. I understand that they don't follow that philosophy when they move here. Which is I'm complaining about it. I wouldn't move to China and not learn the language and expect to turn it into little Canada.
