  1. As far as I'm concerned Canada should be a melting pot. That means all walks of life are blended into a distinct, 'Canadian' culture. Not separated and maintained as little pockets of different cultures. That only creates a schism.
  2. I'm still hoping for one of the top 5 to fall to us. If not I would be comfortable taking Virtanen. He has all the tools. Its rare to see a guy his size than can skate and shoot like that. Obviously he's lacking in hockey sense, but that can be coached. The other things can't. He wouldn't be my first choice, he is a project, but one I could get excited about. I'd certainly rather have him than some of the other names that get tossed about relentlessly around CDC.
  3. Yes. Not live obviously, but if Ehlers had a Patrick Kane level of skill he would not be ranked ~13 by all the scouting services. I don't think his game will translate that well to the NHL
  4. Or we're sick of the obsession over the guy and starting threads about him in Canucks talk is getting a little ridiculous.
  5. Kane's skill level is on a different planet than Ehlers.
  6. I'm not big on Ritchie. Seems to be one of those guys who is only successful because he's so big in a league of boys and he won't translate very well to the NHL. I actually wouldn't mind Fleury. We haven't had a top defensive prospect since Luc. I don't know if he's worth 6th overall however, I'm still hoping for one of the top 5 to drop.
  7. It is stupid to take a guy that highly skilled when there are better players available. You mean you're upset that not everybody agrees with you.
  8. I maintain that if he develops well Shinkaruk can be a first line winger. He has a higher upside but higher risk than Horvat. Nobody is really hating on Ehlers. They're saying its a stupid idea to take him 6th overall. Mark Jankowski may turn out to be a good player, but taking him at 21 was still a stupid move by Calgary considering they could have had him much later. We also don't even know if Ehlers will make the NHL, let alone be a first liner.
  9. So you're basing your opinion on what the pros say, yet you're saying taking Virtanen at 6th is a waste of a pick despite multiple scouting sources ranking him around there and advocating taking Ehlers with that pick despite him being ranked far behind it.
  10. Which is why I don't want to take Virtanen at 6th. Which speaks volumes considering I'd still take him there over Ehlers if I had to pick between the two.
  11. Hunter is a better prospect than Ehlers anyway. We should draft someone with a different skillset. For the record I don't have anything against Ehlers, but I find the idea of taking him with the 6th overall pick absurd.
  12. And Ehlers will be behind them, as he should be. I would take Virtanen before Ehlers and Ritchie, and I don't even want Virtanen. Not at 6th. If we were picking later maybe.
  13. I agree we should take the BPA, which is why I wouldn't take Ehlers at 6
  14. He's got a couple inches on JS, but Schroeder is much heavier and stockier. If I recall JS had the best bench press stats at the NHL combine. Meanwhile Ehlers is 165 lbs soaking wet. Schroeder was also ranked much higher than Ehlers and fell due to his size. I could see Ehlers falling even further than Schroeder did. Then again you might get a team that reaches for him. Who knows, the draft is always interesting.
  15. You're calling me a bandwagoner, but are you going to rip down all your posters of Ehlers if he doesn't get drafted by the Canucks? And basically you don't want any actual discussion in this thread, you just want everyone to agree how great Ehlers will be.
  16. Tell me exactly what I've misinterpreted from your posts. It certainly isn't your borderline creepy infatuation with an 18 year old boy.
  17. He wants the discussion to be specifically about his boyfriend Ehlers.
  18. Yes. But virtanen is raw. He has an unrefined skillset that needs developing but could pay off in spades, look how much he's developed this year alone. Ehlers on the other hand looks like what you see is what you're going to get. And I see Jordan Schroeder 2.0. Now I don't want them to use 6th overall on either of these players, however if I had to pick between the two I would take Virtanen.
  19. No thank you. Not at 6th overall.
  20. I don't know what you're talking about, he was brilliant. He's really helping with the tank.
  21. I found this on the Kings website. Made me laugh. I know the spiel about glass houses and stones, but I really have a great deal of contempt for what a culturally bankrupt organization LA has.
  22. She's awful, the show doesn't really convey how much of a petulant child she really is, and all the fangirls love her because she's all about "Muh dragons!" and "Girl power! XD"
  23. Captain America-The Winter Soldier 7/10. I enjoyed this movie a lot considering I don't care for Captain America as a character. It had decent action, some humour, and surprisingly enough, some social commentary on the growing amount of government surveillance in society. It had the typical action movie cliches, but I accepted that going in to the film. Also, keep your eyes out for a hilarious easter egg when they're standing in the cemetery at the end of the movie.
  24. D-Day: Normandy 1944 9/10 Its a documentary commemorating the upcoming anniversary of D-Day. I saw it in the Imax at the Royal British Columbia museum. It was narrated by Tom Brokaw and fantastically well produced, despite running ~40 mins. I know there are countless others on the subject, but I still really enjoyed this one.
