  1. He wasn't even good in Django. Pretty much every other actor there greatly out-performed him. He was serviceable.
  2. They made her Japanese because 1. Japan is a likely place to be attacked on the Pacific Rim and 2. The whole 'Giant Robots' and 'Monsters attacking cities tropes' are staples of Japanese pop culture. It would be pretty dumb to not have a Japanese character in there. And again, she was meant to be an actual character, not eye-candy. You'll notice there was no gratuitous body shot. And again, your taste in women is completely subjective. If you don't like Japanese girls, thats your thing. But its not a universal thing. They're not going to re-cast an entire character who is an actual part of the story just because some dude doesn't find her particular ethnicity attractive. You could do that with any race and encounter that problem.
  3. I gotta disagree with you on that. I don't think those actors would have fit the role at all. Charlie Hunnam did a fantastic job. Also, what the hell are you talking about with the girl not being "appealing" enough? They used a Japanese actress because the character was Japanese. She wasn't supposed to be a sex symbol or eye candy either, so they're not going to rewrite the character because some guy might not find Asians attractive.
  4. Sorry, I didn't see your comment earlier, but I did see it in IMAX and it was fantastic. The visuals weren't mind blowing like Life of Pi, but it showed the scope and scale of everything very well. You actually felt intimidated by the Kaiju and it made the Pilots being jerked around in the cockpit a lot more visceral.
  5. Pacific Rim-7.5/10 For what it was, it was really good. No failed attempts to be deep or intellectual. No cringeworthy efforts at social commentary. No hamfisted moments attempting to tug on your heart strings. Just good ol' fashioned giant robots and monsters beating the piss out of each other.
  6. World War Z 7/10 Man of Steel 5/10 Monsters University 6/10
  7. Yes. We all know Torts has temper tantrums when things aren't going their way. Assuming this would be good for the Canucks and they need to be screamed at like everyone on CDC seems to think, I still want a coach who can, you know, coach.
  8. Because people here are dumb. They see Torts throwing a tantrum and think "YES! HE'S PERFECT! HE'LL WHIP THE CANUCKS INTO SHAPE!"
  9. Nope. She's finally learning that the world isn't some fairytale but she isn't going to do a heel turn and become strong.
  10. Yeah, but The Winds of Winter is easily the coolest title in the series. And its even cooler that its followed up by 'A Dream of Spring'.
  11. Joffrey was super excited when that happened. Practically bouncing with glee.
  12. A Game of Thrones A Clash of Kings A Storm of Swords A Feast for Crows A Dance with Dragons The Winds of Winter A Dream of Spring
  13. Nope. I suppose if I don't like her though she'll have no choice but to burn me to ash with fire and blood.
  14. Me. Can't stand her. Also, I've seen a lot of reactions of people who have decided to stop watching the show or requesting they change the storyline from the books because of the Red Wedding. Come on. You should know by now this isn't your stereotypical Disney bs. There are plenty of shows you can watch that will follow the played out 'Hero goes on journey, gets the girl, defeats the villain, etc' formula.
  15. Now You See Me-4/10 What was the point of this movie? I just feel like there was no reason for it.
  16. The Hangover Part III-6/10 A few laughs, but nothing uproariously funny (Except for the after credits scene). At least it wasn't the exact same plot rehashed over like the second movie.
  17. I reviewed it on the last page, but I'll post it here again. Star Trek: Into Darkness-7.5/10. This was a really enjoyable movie. I'm not a Trekkie, so there was a fair bit I didn't really catch, but it was very accessible for those that don't follow the franchise. The action was great, acting decent, and the music, while a little overbearing at times, was very well done. The plot had your typical action movie tropes, but it was engaging and enjoyable regardless. What really blew me away however was the visuals. JJ Abrams is somewhat mocked for his overuse of lens flares, but this movie was a real treat for the eyes. Especially the space scenes. I saw it in IMAX 3D, and it really put the vastness of space and the dynamics of it into perspective.
  18. Jeez. Ygritte was right, he really does know nothing. Why else would he be in a Leafs jersey?

  20. Excavation, by the Haxan Cloak. Extremely atmospheric. And by atmospheric I mean creepy as hell. Its like a horror movie soundtrack.
  21. I get the feeling you really like animated movies starring mice.
  22. Personally, I liked it more than any of Pixar's movies, and I really like Pixar. Not only was Wreck-It Ralph really well done, but for some reason it hit me in a way that few movies are able to.
  23. Yeah, thats why I liked it so much when I was younger. The flight scenes with the eagle were really well done.
