  1. Not really. As I already said its part of being a fan. If I cheer when my team scores and boo when they get scored on does that make me a hypocrite too? Besides, if we're talking about hypocrisy I'm more referring to the narcissists in our midst such as yourself who castigate this fanbase from their ivory tower but immediately rush to the defense of others.
  2. See you're doing it right now. I have no issue if other fanbases want to laugh at us. Its part of the sport. But when I do it back its suddenly crossing the line.
  3. Well you completely missed the point of the statue but I'm not surprised. When other teams mock us for complaining about the refs its perfectly understandable. The Anti-Canuck exceptionalism gets really tiring.
  4. Oilers fans now crying about the refs and trying to run their Calder finalist rookie goaltender out of town. Lol.
  5. There's a difference between being a homer and being a bad commentator. Every broadcaster is a homer to some degree, its the bad ones that get called out. Even Oiler fans don't like Singh.
  6. He was +22. I'm all for laughing at McDavid but why are you posting stats from 2/3rds of the way through the season? We should laugh at him being a minus in the playoffs.
  7. He’s a special kind of stupid.
  8. It really isn't. Lafreniere has been a disappointment but is only 21. Garland has negative value due to his cap hit. The rags aren't going to give up Lafreniere AND take our cap dump to move up 12 spots.
  9. Oh boy this was sure worth creating an account to post on here. It's not like we've had this discussion a million times already. Thanks OP.
  10. The pressure in one of those cookers is enough to make you choke on the ingredients.
  11. Well I thought that was pretty clearly sarcasm and agreeing with you, but if you want to get butthurt over it be my guest.
  12. You're incorrigible scum and your bloodline should be put to the sword for saying that. Only true Canadian patriots are allowed to be hockey fans, and the only team of true Canadian patriots is the Leafs Oilers.
  13. You're all wrong. You are obligated to cheer for Canadian teams because they play in the same country as you. If you don't you're a bad Canadian. Unless that Canadian team is the Canucks, because BC stands for 'Barely Canada' afterall. Its why you see so many Flames fans cheering on the Oilers after they get eliminated, because they're proud Alberta patriots and all love the Oilers as their second favourite team.
  14. Well no in the grand scheme hockey doesn’t matter at all. It’s a kids game we watch millionaires play. But on the question of Seattle’s fanbase trying to force the rivalry yes I think it’s relevant.
  15. Yeah I am aware Seattle has the WHL and has had hockey teams in the past like the Totems and Metropolitans, but historically they haven’t really been a hockey hotbed at all. They’re no more of a natural hockey market than the dreaded evil sunbelt teams, people just assume otherwise because it’s a northern US city.
  16. The Canucks absolutely have rivalries, Canucks-Flames is absolutely a rivalry. I don't know what your criteria is for one. The Canucks just happen to have sucked for a decade so nothing is very intense at the moment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canucks–Flames_rivalry
  17. Yeah I get the annoyance but it’s more bewildering to me than anything. I remember seeing a slew of Seattle fans saying “f**k the Canucks” and talking about how much they hated us after we’d played like 2 games in our history against them. It’s like they read that rivalries are supposed to be a big thing in hockey and we’re set up to be their geographic rival so they’re signalling that they’re hockey fans now by attacking the Canucks. I find Seattle can be a passionate sports market but it also has a very theatrical, almost histrionic streak to their fanbases. I grew up watching Seahawks games with my dad and always found the “12s” thing kind of cringe, it’s like they’re cheering for themselves rather than the team. And the Sounders are ridiculous with the plastic European Football Club larping. I get every MLS team does it to some degree but they seem to take it to a new level. Either way if the rivalry does take off, the Seattle fans with their manic pugnacity and the Vancouver fans’ volatile cynicism should make for an interesting combo when they meet.
  18. If Bedard pulls a Lindros its going to be the old Lindros that signed in Toronto for one year at the end of his career. I would absolutely love if Bedard came home, but I wouldn't hold my breath. These types of guys just don't really leave their clubs and when they do they're usually older and out of their prime. Tavares is the only real exception, and Tavares has always been overrated. What I think is more likely to happen (though not likely overall) is Bedard pulling a Tkachuk and forcing a trade out of Chicago based on whatever bargaining power he has with his contract. However even then that doesn't guarantee the Canucks are the team he would land on and if the Blackhawks are trending in a positive direction its unlikely he'd do that either.
  19. People expect it to be a derby like the Battle of Alberta. Could it get there? Maybe. But it would take time and actual clashes in the playoffs. Right now it feels like Seattle fans have this performative hatred towards the Canucks because they're new and want to participate by feeling like a real team with a real rival. They've even designated Myers as this player who is going to be the target of their vitriol, because they need a face on their rival club to be their enemy. Meanwhile Canucks fans don't really care about the Kraken beyond being somewhat annoyed the 2nd year expansion team is already better than them. There's also that weird dynamic where a big chunk of people in Vancouver are fans of Seattle teams in other sports like the Seahawks and Mariners. Yes there's something of a natural "Cascadia" rivalry between the cities, but its less of an animosity like you see with say Calgary and Edmonton and more of a good-natured rivalry. I know lots of people from BC like to go down and visit Seattle and I'm sure there's plenty of Seattleites who like to come up here. I think it has the potential to be a good rivalry once Seattle really settles in to having the Kraken and both teams can (hopefully) be competitive at the same time, but its silly when people act like the Canucks and Kraken are bitter rivals already because of geography. You might as well say the Golden Knights and Coyotes are hated foes because they both play in the desert.
