  1. I don’t think they will. They seem pretty dead set on the current home and road, which is fine for me. The home and away now are great. They’ve got the skate as a third to appease the children screeching about that, and they’ve got the reverse retro to fill the novelty quota. They’re in a great place visually. Which is why it’s so frustrating seeing them unable to just leave the uniforms alone, given they’ve inexplicably removed the pants stripes.
  2. I agree with this, the jersey itself is great, the dated execution of the logo is awful. However, I think people aren’t looking at it the right way. If this were the official new home jersey it would be a mistake. It’s not though. It’s the reverse retro. It’s a gimmicky theme jersey where they take parts of the team’s past and mash them together. It’s perfect for that.

  4. Calgary is obsessed with having guys with questionable character so they probably see it as a plus.
  5. I figured. You’re extremely vocal about your devotion to JC.
  6. You can make any point sound stupid by typing like an idiot, it doesn't give your argument any more weight.
  7. Why the Canucks felt the need to get rid of the pants stripes will forever elude me, but I suppose I shouldn't underestimate this team's ability to screw up their uniforms.
  8. The scuttlebutt is that there is a massive issue in the room with the "core" players like Wheeler and Scheifele essentially carrying themselves differently than the rest of the team and creating a toxic environment. This is part of the reason Laine wanted out.
  9. I'm well aware of Messier's legacy. The fact of the matter is if you're considered one of the greatest leaders of all time but have a 3 year blip of horrendous leadership, you no longer deserve that title. Just like if you had some savant Napoleonic/Alexander the Great level general with an immaculate record of victories spend 3 years of getting consistently routed, defeated and blown out by his enemies in engagement after engagement, he is now necessarily precluded from being considered one of the greatest commanders of all time. You can't pull what Messier did and still be considered the best leader ever.
  10. It’s not just speculation, it’s confirmed. The biggest reason have a massive homeless problem on the West Coast is the mild climate where you won’t die in the winter, and the fact that homeless encampments attract more homeless people. Hell, other provinces have been busted giving them bus tickets out here.
  11. I think the SPCA would have something to say about that regarding cruelty to animals.
  12. If Podz really does have those leadership attributes, why would his coach compare him to one of the worst leaders of all time?
  13. A giant stadium like that in Surrey is laughable. The only way I could see it happening is as a baseball specific stadium as part of a broader bid to lure an MLB team to the lower mainland, and even that's rife with problems and has a snowball's chance in hell of succeeding. First among them, who wants to go out to Surrey to hang out and watch a ball game?
  14. I'm not in the room so its impossible for me to judge. The captaincy role is largely ceremonial anyway, and Horvat fits the role well, so I don't think there's any sense giving it someone else since he'll be re-signing.
  15. The nice thing about Rogers is that the stadium was designed around the bowl. They had a finite amount of space since they were sandwiching it between two viaducts, so they used every of iota of room they could on having the actual seated experience be good. That's why the concourses are like cramped hallways and trying to go anywhere during intermission is a nightmare. That's the only issue I have with Rogers, that and if you're sitting in the upper bowl if the person in front of you leans forward you've lost half your sightline.
  16. The biggest issue with the Saddledome is that roof caused the building to age like milk and hinders future upgrades, on top of designing the building around having a meme ceiling compromises other aspects of the stadium experience. Of course thats what you get when your city is obsessed with LARPing as cowboys and puts that before everything else.
  17. I don't think so. IIRC the Pacific Coliseum is listed as some kind of heritage building by the city/province. Besides it's still used for lots of things and its a cool old building to have as part of the PNE grounds. It also doesn't really work in the modern NHL. It would make very little sense location wise to move from a prime spot downtown out to the suburbs near the city limits. Realistically though I'm disappointed the Giants don't play there anymore. I think its a great venue for junior hockey. I understand there are business forces at play with leases and whatnot, but I'm not going all the way out to Langley to watch junior hockey. The OTT arena is a different story as it's much further out than the Coliseum. Still, I feel like the Canadian Tire Centre's distance being an issue is overblown as an excuse for fans not showing up.
  18. The NHL would not have a problem with it all if it meant a new arena were actually on the way. That said they don't have an issue with Rogers Arena. Is it a top destination in the league? Not at all. But there's nothing wrong with it either. You know the NHL has a problem with your arena when you stop getting NHL events to host, and considering we just had the draft I don't think its an issue.
  19. No. There is nothing wrong with Rogers Arena beyond it being "old" and I don't see anybody talking about replacing it. With the amount of reinvestment and development the Aquilinis have put into it I don't see any reason they'd replace it. They're in it for the long haul, and that's probably good given any new arena is not going to have a nice location, whereas Rogers is in the perfect spot right now. Where would you put a new one? Arenas are expensive enough even with government subsidies, is buying the real estate for this new spot feasible? What I foresee happening is the arena continuing to get upgrades over time a la MSG or Climate Pledge.
  20. Forgot how much I enjoy football.
  21. Terrible. The weight of those extra stripes is going to slow them down so much.
