  1. I get it, I just want people to know its a pretty thin and arbitrary line between showing your support for a team and potentially ending up in legal trouble, so its better to err on the safe side.
  2. Yes and no. You have a right to do what you want with your property, but you can't insinuate your business is affiliated with the Canucks if it isn't, and businesses are really strict about seeing their image misused. If the company demonstrates that they knew about it and didn't do anything it diminishes their ability to enforce their trademarks in legal disputes. This is why so often you see companies cracking down on otherwise harmless ventures that use their intellectual property, because precedent is such a massive thing in court rulings. If they let it slide, and 6 months later some other company is doing something shady with their image its harder for them to get a ruling stopping it because they've let other people use their trademarks. It also can reflect negatively on them if something happens. For businesses like sports clubs image is everything. I would stick to the green stripe idea, on top of being safer its a lot subtler, more aesthetic option. Also you're actually not allowed to throw your jersey onto the ice. They make an exception for designated objects on specific special occasions like a hat trick or teddy bear toss, but outside that throwing something onto the ice can cause a penalty to be given to the home team and and people getting banned from the arena.
  3. I don't think you understand what I'm saying. I am reacting to that single variable, based on the information presented. There are an infinite amount of other things that could factor in, but those aren't being taken into account because that's impossible. If part of a DeBrusk deal was him personally paying for season tickets for me, that would be great and I'd be in favour of the move. If on the other hand the deal for DeBrusk was him for our next 50 first round picks, I would be opposed. Are those examples hyperbolic? Absolutely. But thats my point. I am reacting solely to the idea of adding Jake DeBrusk to our current situation. If I'm not allowed to have an opinion on that because I'm "not looking at the bigger picture" and "management has a plan". I could just as easily say you shouldn't have an opinion on the Canucks trading Demko to Edmonton for magic beans for those exact same reasons.
  4. "Trust me bro" Alright then. Using this exact logic I can tell you the complete opposite and you're wrong. This is all completely based on speculation, and I'm saying with the information we have on hand, I wouldn't want to see a trade for DeBrusk. That has nothing to do with impatience. Its a reaction to a single variable.
  5. I don't want them to "rebuild on the fly". I don't want a player who won't give it his all because he's unhappy with his situation. I'd rather have a better player with a much higher motor and care for slightly more at longer term than a worse one you need to worry about re-signing sooner. If you're going to move out those guys and "rebuild on the fly" you need to change the structure of the team rather than move out pieces for slightly worse equivalents just to "shake it up".
  6. Because you're shuffling deck chairs on the titanic at that point. I don't understand why there's so much noise about moving guys like Garland and Boeser if you're going to bring in DeBrusk.
  7. Watch us trade back for him in the offseason.
  8. Schmidt for a 3rd Pearson for Gudbranson Leivo for Carcone Goldobin and a 4th for Hansen Kesler deal Say what you want about how these turned out but they were pretty celebrated at the time. The thing to remember is that when you have a forum with thousands upon thousands of members you’re going to get disparate opinions. Contrary to popular belief fanbases aren’t hiveminds.
  9. The top 5 defenseman in the league are always the top 5 on the Leafs. Their 6th defenseman is the worst and the sole reason for all their troubles.
  10. You’re wasting your time. This guy is known to be unhinged and uses this place to rant. Earlier he was calling for the death of Pettersson and Hughes agents because the negotiations were taking too long. This is nothing new, just ignore and move on.
  11. I am concerned with the amount of Russophobic sentiment building out there. Obviously if they are in support of what the Russian government is doing that's obviously wrong and should be condemned. But I'm seeing a lot of animosity towards the average Russian person, not dissimilar to what happened to Japanese Americans and Canadians in WW2, or Ukrainians here in the early 20th century, or any other groundswell of hostility to an ethnic group that has happened in history.
  12. You're introducing the biggest political crisis of the time into a thread about which hockey players should stay on our team. Its a deliberate attempt to get political. Its the equivalent of me saying "Not to get political, but Brad Marchand is a bigger idiot than Donald Trump/Joe Biden/Justin Trudeau/Insert Political Figure". It is a political statement. I can't then when a bunch of people start arguing go "GUYS THIS ISN'T ABOUT POLITICS ITS ABOUT BRAD MARCHAND BEING BAD".
  13. You can't make multiple deliberately political statements and then try to couch it by saying "Not getting into politics". It doesn't magically make it not political. Its like saying that telling someone "Please go &^@# yourself" isn't rude because you added "please".
  14. That does look good. I wouldn't mind if they threw some green seats in there too.
  15. No. We need to stop constantly changing based on whatever the flavour of the month is. This is why the team has no visual identity in the first place. Abandoning blue and green for a more generic colour scheme was one of the biggest mistakes this club has ever made.
  16. Right, this is the best a uniform has ever looked, because its good for business.
  17. Teams actually do have some unique patterns on the ice. This is from 2013 and I'm not going to go digging around for an updated version, but here's some examples. As for adding more patterns and colours and stuff onto the ice, I'm extremely hesitant towards that. I like the ice surface to look as clean as possible, and its already getting encroached on by ads. Hell, look at European hockey. Its way easier to follow the play when the surface is just white with minimal deviations from it. There's also the tradition aspect of it. The aesthetic of a sport is part of its appeal, and tradition is part of that aesthetic. I hate how the NBA seems to introduce a constant influx of brand new jerseys every year. I'm not opposed to thirds, alternates, throwbacks, but constantly changing your look dilutes team identities, and as Canucks fans we're all too familiar with that. I agree that if done well, some team specific ice surfaces could look cool, but the line between aesthetic and garish would be razor thin.
