  1. Tampas might be the best jersey they've ever worn. Dallas, Detroit and New York really dropped the ball.
  2. Like you've just done. Exactly, the only reason I have an opinion you don't care for is because I'm a depressed loser. Or is it because I'm a bandwagoner, as you insinuated in the prior post? Really? Whats the point of this thread then? Whats the point of any polls at all. We obviously can't make any general statements about the fanbase based on polls undertaken by the fanbase. Also, "Or Maybe Not?", which is it? You're back to insinuating I'm a bandwagoner, when before it was a sadsack who couldn't get over the team being terrible. Pick one.
  3. I know back then they didn't want a separate set of gloves for an alternate jersey, but seeing the dark navy gloves with the bright blue and green always throws me off a bit when I see this set.
  4. Well then you should be fine with people critiquing your post
  5. Thats fine, but making a comment like that in something as arbitrary and subjective as a jersey design thread is the wrong spot to make that comment. This fanbase can't even agree on what jersey to wear normally. If the team somehow managed to trade Loui Eriksson for McDavid with Edmonton retaining 50% of the salary, and people complained, that would be a case for it. Here it isn't.
  6. A lot of projection here. Just because someone isn't blindly bootlicking everything the team does does not mean they're some miserable hater. Are there some in the fanbase who do that? Sure. But there are just as many who'll praise anything they do because they can't remove the homergoggles.
  7. Ehh, could be worse. I'm kind of disappointed that with all the designs in Canucks history, thats the one they decided to go with for a remix. That said I'm pleasantly surprised with how nicely the darker shade of blue works with the Canucks green.
  8. No issues with him going in the ROH, but jersey retirement is an absolute no. As an aside I will say it really shows how sad this team has been with 50 years and no cup, only 3 finals appearances and the fanbase feels this constant need to add players to some sort of accolade club just to have something to celebrate and pretend we have a much more storied history than actually exists.
  9. They're going to be unveiled Monday. As for when you can buy them, who knows.
  10. Yeah I didn't say it wasn't a difficult job. I'm just saying that framing that level of financial compensation for playing a game part of the year as some sort of sacrifice is silly. There are plenty of jobs that are very grueling and hard on your body that aren't nearly as enjoyable or pay as well.
  11. I'm in favour of hiring a woman if she's the best person for the job. I'm not in favour of hiring a woman simply because she has a vagina and it lets you signal how progressive you are for social brownie points.
  12. Great story to hear. I wish him all the best. That said after perusing his website I'm not really sure what separates his company from a bunch of others. It seems like pretty standard stuff, flannels, trucker hats, etc. Then again I'm not really a fashionable guy so what do I know. 65,000 is still more than the average joe makes. Hell, a lot of people have to go into student debt and get a job they don't like just to make that much. You aren't going to be driving a Lamborghini but I don't think its a sacrifice to make that playing a game you enjoy for part of the year.
  13. People want a green jersey because its an extremely important part of the team's colour scheme yet they've never gone full out and embraced a green sweater. The past two alternates have been nearly the same as the homes but with the stick and rink swapped out for the orca.
  14. That's simply an age thing though. Of course people who grew up watching the Canucks in black and yellow are going to associate the team with that, but the same can be said for every look. The team has spent most of its history in blue and green by this point, so I don't think you're accurate in saying that's what most people associate the team with.
  15. It wasn't. I have to take your word for it when they originally switched, but that sounds like retconning the narrative to align with the future animosity towards Messier, but my understanding is that plenty of people were excited to have a "West Coast" look again. As for the past 30 years however, there hasn't been a widespread advocacy for going back to black red and yellow. There have generally been 4 camps. Orca people, skate people, Stick-In-Rink people and Johnny Canuck people. If we charitably assume it's an even distribution, that's approximately 3 quarters of the fanbase in favour of blue and green. The skate hype did not start again until this year when they brought it back for the anniversary. And a big factor in that as well is that culture is currently riding a wave of nostalgia towards the 90s, which is reflected in the uniforms being trotted out at the moment.
  16. I question that, at least the Makar part. Dahlin we can't really tell because Buffalo is a crater.
  17. And this has what to do with blue and green exactly?
  18. The Blue and Green are the old colors. Moving away from them in the first place was a mistake. The Black Red and Yellow was not heavily advocated until the 50th jerseys came out, people are just riding the hype train.
  19. Based on the teaser ADIDAS put out, speculation is the Canucks reverse retro will be a blue/green version of these
  20. When Eichel signed his 10m a year deal he was below a PPG and had zero playoff experience. When Matthews signed his deal he had finished 1 season at a PPG pace, and was 5 points over the year it was signed, as it was signed midseason. I'd say when you factor in playoff performance Pettersson is at minimum on par with these 2 guys relative to this point in their contracts. The fact is we're now in a world where you pay your upcoming stars for what they're going to do, not what they've done, and I don't think I'm out of line when I say unless something unforeseen happens, at his current trajectory Pettersson is on pace to be the best Canuck of all time when his career finishes. They're going to have to open up their wallets for Petey. The ONLY way I see something else happening is if he decides to take a lower pay hit for a couple years while waiting for revenue to spike back up from the COVID nightmare. Hughes on the otherhand I see signing a bridge deal. He can't be offersheeted and he stands to make more when the cap raises again.
  21. I'm genuinely surprised the original S-I-R is doing so well. Not that its a bad jersey, it just feels like an afterthought in all the discussion
  22. I know we're on the same side, I just feel a certain need to add ballast to the skate hype. I'm aware of the history, but that nonsense research is what led us to the eyesore flying-V ponchos and away from our rightful colours in the first place. We wore blue & green before any other team in the big 4. The Team Germany skate was a gradual move away from the construction vest uniforms. As far as similarities, the skate jerseys are extremely similar to Vegas, Boston and Pittsburgh, and are an inverse of Calgary's colours. Meanwhile, nobody else wears blue and green, the closest you'll get are the Seahawks and Timberwolves, who wear navy and lime green, and that was significantly after us. Also, I'd appreciate not being referred to as 'BM'.
  23. They're fine. They're just not very Vancouver and they're too similar to enough teams that it would be a mistake to warrant the switch full time. I guarantee you if they switched 20 years from now people would be clamouring for the blue and green again citing memories of the Sedins, Lu, Bieksa, Burr, Kesler etc.
