  1. The next coming of Jannik Hansen? Please be the case, our third line needs speed.
  2. Not much tape on this guy but here are some highlights from his draft year.
  3. He's Brad Lambert's uncle. Firing Trotz seems like a bad idea to replace him with a rookie coach. Maybe the Islanders draft him?
  4. Just watching Horvat mic'd up and it really showed his leadership abilities. It looks like Miller and Horvat work really well with each other on the leadership of the team

He's not a bum. I do feel he's overrated. He would be a perfect 3rd line centre and there's no shame in that.

Bo and Miller connect well together....I like how Miller can blast a pass at Bo knowing he'll redirect it in. Some Bodinery stuff there.

a good leader recognizes the strengths in other leaders and gives space for those strengths to come to the surface where it's helpful.  Bo, obviously, is not the kind of leader who is insecure in his abilities there, he doesn't "need" to be in the spotlight as a leader.........as he shouldn't.  He's a manager of personalities and he clearly does it well.  That's a real leader, imo

  5. Horvat having a statement game.

      I think you meant Pettersson.

  6. Russia just invaded Ukraine. I am at a loss of words.

All good, I've seen many questions about Ukraine's nuclear arsenal pop up lately, so I figure I'd set the record straight.

If you're interested, search up the Budapest Memorandum. You'll find a lot of useful context behind Ukraine's present security situation, including why they got rid of their nukes. I still need to dig through some of the details myself.

Regarding the EA, some people are deluded and completely lack perspective. Not worth engaging with them, honestly.

I'll make sure to add that into my reading. I am currently reading so much things for class but I feel the need to become more knowledgeable about Ukraine.

I got access to a lot databases so I can probably find them.

Thanks! It's weird to thank Brad Marchand, i know it's a user name but still weird but thanks!

Truth be told, I don't consider myself any sort of expert, I'm piecing together what I know based off what I've read in limited doses. I certainly didn't have as much time for this sort of thing when I was in school.

I adopted my username ten years ago as a bit and was too lazy to change it back haha.

  7. It's not uncommon that H can be silent or soft in dialects of English. I am not really that surprised but I don't I have ever heard her say her name until now.
  8. Just reminder, hockey players are a human beings and not invincible.

Everyone can have issues with their mental health.

Take care of your mental health everyone.

@DevronJust whenever you get a chance, give yourself a nice break. I find it always helps, listening to good tunes, drawing, writing, playing video games, watching Canucks games etc. they all help

I wish nothing but the best for you.

@warrchief ...nice post and reminder and advice.  I'm 100% with you and others who are suffering from mental and emotional issues in their lives. It wasn't my intention to antagonize you or belittle the seriousness of mental and emotional health matters in previous post so I'm sorry for that (the direction I was going with my post had nothing to do with the way you interpreted it, but I've learned from my wife that even though something that is said or done with unintended response/interpretation/consequence, if it makes someone feel a certain way, then harm has been done).

I'm one of the very fortunate ones who lives a charmed life, so I have a myopic and black & white view of the world sometimes.  Olive branch extended...can we be friends?

@bigbadcanucksAll good, I think I got a little too heated too bud. Sorry for that on my behalf and sure I always welcome more friends. Being a Canucks fan is tiring huh? It's always good to have reconciliation!

Now lets get ready to root for the Canucks on Thursday against the Lames :towel:

  9. "Snowflake brush" what? Motte has depression is providing awareness for it. Is he a snowflake? Jordin Tootoo who is a recovering addict? Is a snowflake? Daniel Carcillo and his awareness for CTE injuries? Those guys are warriors physically and mentally. Everyone is human and they are most certainly not all tough as nails. I guarantee that there are many others silently suffering. A sports psychologist helps with performance with techniques to get back into a good mindset. You lost me with your comment on "snowflakes". It is quite obvious you have no empathy.
  10. I wasn't pro but I did get offered to wrestle at a div 3 college. I got hurt so yeah that unfortunately ruined my short little career although I know I was not ever good enough for the Olympics or World Championships. Yeah, people who get to the Olympics/WC were light years ahead of me and my short Div 3 career. Pressure to perform is the worst but you are right. I think a lot of pro athletes get pampered once they "make it" players who fight for their careers usually do pretty good, like Lamikko, Highmore or even Motte. I think Horvat is just not focusing on hockey. He recently got a ton of sponsorships and he had been posting that on social medias. I think a lot of it is stuff going on outside of the rink. I believe in him and I know he can bounce back like Petey did.
  11. I was in this same position a month ago defending Pettersson who many said "had regressed" or "topped out". Whatever, you guys win. I said my piece but I will tell that it is part of why we don't get big UFAs. Our taxes, media and burn at the stake fans. Horvat is a good player who needs some positives in his game and he certainly does not get that from the fans. Horvat is either banged up or is mentally drained. As someone who did high level sports, the mental drain, the expectation that you have to play the hardest you can 100% of the time, is probably the worst. It is easy enough as fans to criticize players but we never played at the NHL level and we don't know what that does to them. I am tired of this, just patience and not throwing players under the bus. No one needs this negative attention/energy.
  12. God, the Sedins had a similar leadership style but just throw Bo under the bus. Just because someone is loud doesn't discount Horvat's captaincy or leadership skills. He was, is and will be a good captain whether you think of it otherwise. Hop off the bandwagon, we don't need fans like you. No wonder we will never get any big name FAs coming here. Horvat is a consistently good faceoff man. Horvat improves the powerplay. Horvat does plenty for the community. Horvat is there for his teammates.
  13. If you can get an overpayment like that from NYR then why not? I love Horvat and Miller but if the return is that colossal then by all means go ahead and do it.
  14. You are just the worst type of fan. Horvat is out there winning faceoffs. Between Juho and Horvat we would never win many faceoffs. Horvat is going through a hiccup. A lot of the fans from the similar vein, said the same for Petey and look at him now. 17pts in 15 games. Obviously there is something going on with him, whether mentally or physically. Horvat has had a rotating cast of wingers without developing any chemistry besides Pearson. Horvat got a pretty nice bumper goal last night and that will hopefully bring his confidence level up. Horvat isn't your prettiest star player but he gets the job done when his game is working. Need I remind you about the bubble playoffs and how he was dominant in a lot of the games 10 g in 17gp before he and the rest of the team ran out of juice.
  15. Yes, lets trade/run out the one guy who wins faceoffs on a consistent basis. Soul will gained for a lack of faceoff wins. Trading Horvat is a net zero deal if we don't get a player who can serve that role as a match up centre. Canuck fans just want to run out any talent we get. No one wonder we have to sign them to big deals to even want to come here. So many reactionary fans, I am starting to consider Drance as normal compared to a lot of Canucks fans. Get a grip, he's young and he'll work through it.
  16. Wirtz = NHL's Donald Sterling. It really is that old boy's club, I am curious to see what the league says about this. I am sure they wont take this lightly... Or else, I know the hockey media are putting Wirtz on blast.
  17. So many bad takes on Petey, I think he will get better. Mac had a two down years before exploding. I would give it another season before hitting the panic button.

Though I agree, it's fine and dandy when you're not paying the bill.

    2. Drakrami

      Drakrami

MacKinnon? Hes a rhino/powerforward, having 2 down years prior before he exploded with 97 points at 22 years old. That's understandable. Pettersson is a totally different type of player... He is the skilled player like Kane, Eichel, Aho, McDavid, Rantanen, Crosby. You don't see these players having horrible blip years. In fact, for these players, their best years are 21-24 years old. Pettersson is 23. Although, I have seen flashes of the old Pettersson in the past 5 games. We'll just have to wait and see some more.

    3. -AJ-

      -AJ-

I don't mind discussion about how poor he's playing, but I do think it's very likely that Petey bounces back, though more likely next year than this. MacKinnon I think is a fair example. He's a high skill player like Petey and after a great rookie year, was pretty average for three straight years before finally exploding in his 5th season at 22. The ages are a bit different and Petey is 23 and I don't expect Petey to become a perennial 100+ point guy like MacKinnon, but I do think the comparison is reasonable.

Not only that, but MacKinnon once said in an interview that his problem during those three down years was psychological and it was with the help of a sports psychologist that he found his game for year 5. I believe the issue is the same with Pettersson and that it might be wise for him also to find help from a sports psychologist to figure things out again--maybe even the same one that MacKinnon used.

  18. Sorry to hear that. There are a lot disgusting comments from some "good ol' boys", I think they are complaining about their club going away. Casual sexism is still something rampant and people can't understand. It's 2022 and it's just stupid. It only take two minutes to find her as the best fit for the Canucks for cap related stuff. An agent who fleeced us with Roussel obviously deserves the job.
  19. Only way to do that is rebuild the right way (something Frankie doesn't want to do). Avs, Lightning, Canes... They built teams through the draft. It's crazy how the Avs got Makar and Byram with Mac, absolutely bonkers (Duchene trade ouch). Canucks need to do the same and try to get more ELCs on the books
  20. Even if we have our own lists the team's list was going to be different. It's just a fun barometer to use and Craig always has an awful draft mind.
  21. Every time I get a tattoo now, I just tell myself "no ragrets" to make sure I spelled everything correctly.
  22. A lot of the D available in the First are Right handers
  23. Kids need to eat, that's super important but also being mindful of the other kids at the school is as well. They just couldn't take a day off? I am sure wherever they work at is super accommodating especially at the fact the parents are also in contact with a potentially positive case with their kid and other families in question.
