  1. Who says they were smart to begin with? The whole ripping paper behind Trump was nothing more than WWE level showmanship. Yeah it was about defeating Trump, but it was never about actually doing anything more than maintaining the status quo. These people are just as deranged, they're just better at hiding it.
  2. Funny, all CPC had to do was stay away from social issues that even many conservatives don't want to change and they probably would have won. The Liberals threw them a gimme and they still managed to f--- it up.
  3. I'm a 1981 Gen Y, I'm not a millenial. I grew up playing outside, never had a Nintendo in the 80s, and had a much older sibling, 8 years, who exposed me to 80s music so I grew up liking that more than what was coming out in the 90s, so yeah, not a millenial.
  4. Reported Bryan and CM Punk are going to AEW... haha f--- WWE and John China, I hope they sink.
  5. I feel bad for Edmonton fans, I mean their city sucks, and I don't mean that to trash them, I like people from Edmonton, been there a couple times, but the city really sucks.
  6. Yep, if it fits an HF narrative though they'll never let you forget it either, f-ing twitter morons.
  7. Such a stupid post being thrown out by the twitter crowd, I was watching that douche stream on youtube for a minute, my ears were bleeding, what a moron that was, anyways as others said, you can offer him 4, 4,5 or even 5, doesn't mean he wants to come here.
  8. So I read today on Wikipedia that Vancouver is bidding again only 20 years later. Is there any talk of this in the media? I don’t think it’s a dumb idea, I imagine most of the infrastructure remains in place and it’s probably a better idea to rotate between a few select cities because of this. Anyways anyone know any more regarding this?
  9. Are you the member HF voted to come here and start this nonsense? Isn't there a thread there already full of embarrassing Canuck fans saying they'll turn to the Kraken? I think that's where you want to be.
  10. I'm just tired of seeing Edler give up the puck at the blueline on the powerplay, I hate to say it but that's pretty much what I will remember him for.
  11. Wouldn't we have to then acquire a goalie to expose? Why would Pittsburgh want Holtby when there's certainly no guarantee they'd take Jarry?
  12. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of these movements are funded covertly by oil companies, discredit global warming advocates by associating them with other movements. Cancel culture is cancer culture IMO, it takes the focus off of real problems that affect real people, not a bunch of rich people using the little guy to do their bidding against each other. If you get people to lose focus on a particular issue by intersectionalizing (god I hate that word) with some other issue, it gets diluted, and that's a problem. Anyways I'm going on a rant that will soon end up in weird places. Real solutions like limiting the population, temporarily reviving the nuclear industry while other means are developed are scoffed at. I laugh at the family with four kids worried about global warming, maybe they should have used a condom? Exporting garbage and other environmentally damaging products to third world nations, out of sight of of mind. Importing those same things from third world nations and having their ships sink polluting the ocean. Importing junk goods from far off places, "but then those things would cost too much money". Here's the thing though, you know that thing millenials and whatnot are complaining about how their parents could afford a house and blah blah blah... maybe they could afford a house because their wages weren't being suppressed by a bloated work force, and when they were young, most goods were manufactured in country, not imported from China because "cheap". The biggest lie we were told by the rich was that it was necessary for us to be able to afford things. Now there are more billionaires than ever and they profited so extremely much from the pandemic, and we continue to buy their cheap crap all the while cheering them on their vain space race. Yeah I'm really ranting now... what's my point... good question. My point is the way things were are achievable, and their needs to be a voice to explain that maybe we can get there without the bigotry and racism, where we can have old school fiscally conservative values while still being socially and morally accepting of the differences that once divided us, without making an issue of them. People think it takes a long time and a lot of hawing and humming and grumbling, but all it takes is a matter of will power, it's not that hard really. Sorry Rupert, most of this has nothing to do with what you wrote.
  13. Cinderella runs almost always fall short, I don't mind the adage "just make the playoffs" because playoff experience is important. But it's also important to build a team that can consistently make the playoffs and not mortgage the future for a chance run.
  14. I wouldn't mind an extra down as well in the CFL, but I think if they were to do that the first downs would need to be 15 yards. It certainly would allow more running plays.
  15. Yeah I don't see how it is sustainable, I wonder if we'd be better off using NFL rules and being a quasi minor league to the NFL instead.
  16. What does the CFL want to be? I read an article on TSN today that I can no longer find. Basically stating how the planned partnership with the XFL fell through and how attendance prior to covid has been waning in the major cities, Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. I wonder if it's cause or coincidence that these three cities are also MLS cities? The last time I watched a CFL game I just felt bored after a quarter of watching. I mean they say the NFL is bad with it's pauses, I think the CFL is worse. I remember going to games in the 90s especially during the Grey Cup run of '94 and there would be a good 30000-40000 people there on most days. They said prior to covid there was only one 20000+ game. I don't think it's any coincidence, the game is boring, the rules while they support passing offence are boring, the quality of play is terrible. I honestly would rather see the NFL in Canada at this point, I know that's probably sacrilege to many of you, but I just don't see how football is going to survive in Canada when real football is looking like it will soon surpass it.
  17. Because in the beginning when we still had the Sedins we had basically garbage after that and no prospects we could afford to trade. Now we are starting to build up depth but we still aren't in that grey area between perenial playoff contender and potential cup surprise that most teams who make big trades are in. The only big name in the Burke/Nonis/Gillis era I think we can say we got is Luongo and that's because our time as a playoff contender was extremely short. Teams who can afford to make big splashes in trades are the ones who can continually make the playoffs while at the same time maintain a good amount of prospects in the system. Neither Gillis or Burke/Nonis were capable of doing this.
  18. I don't mind players talking trash about the opposing players but the opposing fans? Montreal fans probably pay more of Kucherov's salary than Tampa fans do so he should probably keep his mouth shut in that regard. I don't like Montreal or their fans particularly and I'm definitely for the NHL players speaking their minds more, but fans are off limits IMO.
  19. an extra ball, other object or animal enters the field of play during the match, the referee must: – stop play (and restart with a dropped ball) only if it interferes with play – unless the ball is going into the goal and the interference does not prevent a defending player playing the ball; the goal is awarded if the ball enters the goal (even if contact was made with the ball) unless the interference was by the attacking team – allow play to continue if it does not interfere with play and have it removed at the earliest possible opportunity I guess the third rule is open to interpretation, it certainly didn't interfere with the play as I didn't see the ball being touched or generally noticed by anyone but the Danish subs on the side of the field, although they were trying to get the linesman's attention. Obviously Sterling maneuvered quite close to the ball though, it would have been just as controversial if the ref had blown the play down there because then you can have any opposing fans throwing crap on the pitch at any time to interfere with the game to their team's benefit. I think this is one of those situations where the salt that comes with hating the English is magnified that we for once get the benefit of a bad call, whatever. Even though I think Sterling was touched, did he embellish? Probably, but Kane should have got one earlier and the Denmark goal came after a highly dubious circumstance so I think it evened out.
  20. Of course you would think that. Knee on knee to the right, hip on hip to the left, double fouled
