  1. Aquilini is also probably blacklisted by any potential exec candidate that respects Linden. His choices may have been limited. Hence why he's always been hiring rookies or outsiders. GMJR is the old old Boys club haha so he didn't mind.
  2. I mean. Watch that same clip he's referencing about the Dach/Miller turnover and tell me that's how an centre plays. Never mind an 8 mil centre. If a jokester clown like this guy is noticing it. We can bet the league and our potential trade partners are too. Also it's interesting to get the perspective of someone who doesn't even focus on this market, he has less of a bias to the Nucks than any of us have. And yes I aldo enjoy watching the leafs lose and this guy ranting. The zamboni episode is must watch haha.
  3. "[Miller] is worse than anything anyone has ever accused Phil Kessel of in Toronto." Lived in Toronto during the Kessel era. That's a pretty damning statement.
  4. There should be takers, just that mgmt has to have the stomach to sell him for pennies on the dollar compared to what was offered last TDL. If we are lucky and JTs level of production keeps up for the next season or two, it'll be easier to trade him away when the cap goes up 8/9 mil
  5. They're a victim of the spillover frustration from fans who realized Benning was wasting the last 8 years of their and this teams life. And the previous cognitive dissonance of defending JB and absolving him of responsibility ("it takes 8 years to rebuild the GMMG prospect pipeline") has morphed into projected anger at this mgmt group who are convenient scapegoats holding Bennings bag (though some of it is their unforced error) Again I'm willing to see how they perform this TDL and offseason Before annointing them bad. This group has yet to have their "hamhuis" moment.
  6. Because he fell in love with an overperforming 3C that was about to get cap crunched out of his team haha. (let's transpose this to JT two years later) Foundational Culture Carrier Brandon Sutter. I'll never forget how he gushed over him before even lacing his skates for us, only for Willie D to deploy him initially as a winger with the Sedins rather than our 2C.
  7. Sadly a structure introduced by our former assistant coach haha but yes i can agree to this, also JR didn't have a chance to choose his own coach too plays into this.
  8. This was ironically Bennings MO that a lot of this forum bougbt into the last 8 years. Remember he lived "day to day". It's an interesting phenomenon with this thread's existence. Benning inherited a lot of good will from the Gillis presidents trophy era so people were willing to be more patient with him. That patience ended when the last of that team left in edler and tanev. While the last 8 years of meaningless mediocrity has bled into much shorter leashes with the JR team from the fanbase. I'm not saying JR is perfect or even going in the right direction. But it's unusual for a fanbase to sour this fast on an experienced exec like JR. I wasn't on board with Bennings moves in 2015 either but I at least gave him the till his 2nd full year TDL before beginning to form a stronger opinion against him.
  9. Two generational centres and A 2 million dollar Bonino with Kessel on your 3rd line. Along with one of the winningest goalies in the NHL doesn't hurt either.
  10. Except they poached our defensive assistant coach who is making them perform much better than they should be.
  11. Yep like I said. If management even just punts it for this year to reset and reload it works for me. Just can't have them repeating the same mistakes over and over again and hoping for a different result. I'm wondering if we can even afford Kuz at this rate next year.
  12. Turning over a roster by virtue of attrition isn't a rebuild. Benning simply received the default picks everg NHL team does and benefited from his draft position. Rebuilds proactively sell at deadline, accumulate more draft picks relative to an average team and don't cap out. Weaponizing cap space instead as Arizona and Chicago have done well against us with the last two trades. They took advantage of our management's belief the team was close to eat up short term contracts for premium draft picks. Now Arizona is reaping the cap space benefits we should have had this year. I think at this point, anyone not named Hughes and Petey should be for sale. Unfortunately I'm approaching at the point where I think a rebuild won't line up with Demko. But of course I wouldn't move demko unless it was for a haul. But heck. We've had so many years of not being patient my bar has lowered. I don't need a full rebuild. Just punt this year and stock up in a stacked 2023 draft when it's obvious this isn't a playoff team. Or a contender caliber team. Do anything that involves something more than just "making playoffs and anything can happen". Show some proactiveness, patience and flexible strategic thinking for once. Be willing to take some pain today to set yourself up for success the next 2-3 years. What we do this TDL will be very telling on how management approaches the team. There were so many times during JB's tenure where I just thought if they waited one more year or had been patient with one bad year to let bad contracts ride out this team would be in a much better position. Instead we mortgaged the future continuously in pursuit of bubble team status.
  13. Where's the talent drop off this year? Because we're on pace to pick right there lol
  14. Finally deploying the $5 million player we brought in to help with the PK haha. Hope it works out
  15. Ideally we should have jumped on Bruce Cassidy when the Bruins fired him, but Trotz I think will address this team's biggest weakness. The team defensive structure. Just get ready for a lot of 2-1, low scoring, low event wins.
  16. Meh, forget his personal issues, and even the labor controversies that surround how he treated his employees. As a fan, I never did forgive him for the way he kicked Linden to the curb after he used him to deflect blame away from ownership after the Torts fiasco. That still sits sour with me. Linden was proven correct with his slower rebuild plan.
  17. He knows he won't last 5 years if he doesn't get to playoffs, like all the other GMs on this team. The incentive is short term wins for that 2 game playoff gate revenue. Sell the team Aqua.
  18. This ironically has been us since 2016, and with all the other teams correctly identifying us as such when they traded their players to us for picks.
  19. There was no hindsight needed for moves like OEL. He saw an 8 mil aging dman post a 24 pt season the year after failing to acquire him and decided that he was worth parting a top 10 pick for. Not to mention signing the Ferland contract with the injury history.
  20. This is just me being bitter/pissed, but if I'm JR. I write up a Canuck version of the NYR letter and walk down to Aquilini's office tomorrow and tell him to sign it, or I quit. Then follow through on a proper rebuild/tool (whatever you want to call it) where we actually sell off assets at the deadline for picks.
  21. My vote remains a no. There's a lot to be achieved this year. Sell at the deadline, get some picks, and build around Demko/Petey/Hughes. Everyone else can find success elsewhere.
  22. Core is still Bennings. Along with the cap troubles till until OEL and Myers aresl gone. JT for sure we can hang on JR
