  1. hahahaha the funniest thing i seen all day - nice joke dude
  2. No Liljegren in there either hey, that ranking order is fine by me, guess the next big thing is the combine to change up the order yet again
  3. It's going to be either Middlestadt or Glass and I am happy either way. No to Liljegren or any dmen, that pick is way too early. I wouldn't be so upset if Tanev was traded to bring in another high 1st rounder, yes please Benning.
  4. Go in wanting 1st or 2nd expecting 4th or 5th and will not be disappointed if that happens
  5. yo crabby yeah ummm i dont read these threads much.... yeah thats it..., hahaha dude you still get a kick out of talking down to people, you must be the life of the party.
  6. come on calling people reactionaries, really, what is this high school and a sense of entitlement...
  7. From a Province article written by Ben Kuzma. I like what the scout says about Glass and most even strength points and produces alot of points on the road. As much as draft pundits will predict what the Canucks should and shouldn’t do in the first round — especially if they target a centre — Shane Malloy knows what they could land. He’s the author of The Art of Scouting and co-host of Hockey Prospects Radio on Sirius XM, NHL Network Radio and TSN Radio. Malloy recently returned from scouting the Under-18 world championship tournament. Here is his take on centres of attention for the Canucks: 1. Nolan Patrick (Brandon, WHL, 6-foot-3, 198 pounds) The stats: GP: 33, G: 20, A: 26, PTS: 46 The skinny: “My only concern with Patrick is you have to make sure the sports hernia is not going to be a long-term issue. But other than that, I have no concerns. I know speed and skill are in vogue in the NHL, but size matters and he’s going to end up playing at 215 or 220 pounds. When you can produce and play in traffic like he can, can you envision having Nolan Patrick as a No. 1 and Bo Horvat as a No. 2 down the road?” 2. Nico Hischier (Halifax, QMJHL, 6-foot, 174 pounds) The stats: GP: 57, G: 38, A: 48, PTS: 86 The skinny: “He’s very intelligent and what I like about him is that he’s an efficient player. The plays he makes are NHL transferable and at a real high percentage. What he does best is that he changes his speed based on the situation and attacks the neutral zone and offensive zone at different angles consistently. It throws forwards and defencemen off on how to gap control him because he can make plays at speed. But he’s going to need time (to fill out) and you can’t bring him into the NHL now because he won’t survive.” 3. Cody Glass, (Portland, WHL, 6-foot-2, 179 pounds) The stats: GP: 69, G:32, A:62 PTS: 94 The skinny: “He’s the most efficient and productive 5-on-5 player in the CHL (Canadian Hockey League) for this draft. Over 70 per cent of his points come 5-on-5 and that’s exceptionally good. You put a big star beside that when you start to grade levels of work. And 45 per cent of his points were on the road and that’s excellent. He needs to fill out, but his dad is 6-foot-5 and built like a truck and his brother is 6-foot-7.” 4. Gabriel Vilardi (Windsor, OHL, 6-foot-2, 193 pounds) The stats: GP: 49 G:29, A:32, PTS: 61 The skinny: “It’s what style of centre do you want? Vilardi is going to play a power game. His first two or three steps need to be quicker and better to create time and space, but he’s big and solid.” 5. Martin Necas (Brno Kometa, Czech, 6-foot, 167 pounds) The stats: GP: 41, G:7, A:8, PTS: 15 The skinny: “He can handle the pace but needs time to get stronger, but it’s his ability to play at speed and make plays at speed. That’s a skill set that’s underappreciated and he’s already playing against men.” HONOURABLE MENTIONS: Casey Mittlestadt (Eden Prairie, Minn., USHSW), Elias Pettersson (Timra, Sweden). bkuzma@postmedia.com
  8. I think the majority of the CDCers know this is not going to be the savior that gets drafted this year and come in and win us the cup, but the time it takes to build this team back into a contender will take a few years. Hopefully no more big contracts to aging FAs either.
  9. where did Alzner come from, no thanks, he won't want to come here. Maybe if we were going to be a competitive team for the next couple of years, which we arent going to be.
  10. My query was only that, not really what I want the Canucks to do, I see your point and am just looking at what other people might think in that scenario. I know with the centres available Benning should pick one but he has gone off the board before so you never know.
  11. i did mention that they may draft him and trade one of our other RW prospects, (of which we have quite a bit of now), as trade bait to bring in a centre prospect vs drafting a Centre in this draft seeing as Tippett is a bona fide sniper waiting to explode onto the NHL scene. On that note, who out there would fit that bill, who has a young future 1C that another team would give up for a stud like Tippett?
  12. Just out of curiosity what happens if say we land the 5th pick and top 4 centres are gone, has anyone seen highlights of Owen Tippett? This kids shot is insane, some are comparing him to Phil Kessel. Do we pass up on what might be a sure fire RW sniper with size in the NHL and trade one of our other RW prospects for a young experienced Centre?
  13. No I was a little disappointed at first but I support Bennings vision of building from the net out. He has demko in net, Juolevi, Stecher, Hutton, (supposedly Tryamkin), and he has a good group of skilled forwards that will be our next core that will hopefully gel over the next few years before running the show here. Watching Juolevi play when I could, I could see how smooth and effortless he was in his own zone. He is very fast at moving the puck to a safe area for a forward to pick up and then also moving out of the way of the incoming hit. His outlet passes are on point. Watching some highlights of him on the PP, he knows where to shoot the puck for it to be most effective whether it's straight forward to the net or angled just away where one his forwards can tip it in. Very smart player with and without the puck. We need premier defencemen here and he is going to be huge in the future. I do like what Tkachuk brings to the Flames, he can be a pest and provide offense, he will be a thorn in everyone's side for years to come. I like how Bennings picks and players brought in through trade will grow together very soon and hopefully become a force to be reckoned with.
  14. Guess the depends on if they think know next year 2nd is deeper than this year's. Would be nice if it was this year though, nice little bonus. Does anyone know if next year's draft will have a deeper talent pool?
  15. What I am afraid of is we fall to 5th and Patrick/Hischier/Vilardi/Middlestadt get selected and we are at 5th. Whom does Benning take? Does he go with Liljegren, whose stock has been falling or go with Necas/Glass. I been so hyped up on either Middlestadt/Vilardi and with last year's draft disappointment at the time picking of Juolevi and not Tkachuk it would be tough if this was the scenario. Although I would rather have Necas/Glass if this was the case.
  16. Remember if the Avalanche gets a pick, and we don't, we still get 4th and not the dreaded 5th lol, that's the way I look at it. Hopefully the Avs pick Liljegren giving us more options to choose from. Not a glass empty kind of guy but I know vancouvers luck in the draft.
  17. The draft lottery will start at 530 pm MT on CBC. What time is that here? NM I found answer on Google haha, it's a 430pm start on CBC, so there is hope I can at least hear the lottery on the radio, woohoo, I am a happy man now. For the time being, fingers crossed hey ladies and germs.
  18. So that just leads Middlestadt then. Vilardi is big enough to play in the West and covers the puck really well, hard to take off of. I want him to pick Middlestadt but whoever is left will be a good player for us for a long time. As long as that pick can be creative in his feeds to a waiting Dahlen or Boeser or whoever then I am happy because once Hank is out we will need a new premier set up man.
  19. If we get number 1 we select Patrick, if we get number 2 we select Hischier, number 3 we select Vilardi/Middlestadt/Glass
  20. Here I am so excited for the draft lottery, been ready for almost 2 months haha, now I will be travelling that day and driving down the island with no reception zones, so will probably find out our pick through the radio when we get reception again...... well sh_th!!!
  21. His speed and shot look they are back in fine form but how about his hitting? That was his Forte, putting players on their a--, I seem to recall he had a late hit leading to costly penalty and WD benching him and this is where he lost his confidence in hitting.
  22. Has Nikita tryamkin departure put a damper here in the draft talk. 1st place I come to each day to get my hockey info!
