  1. I won't be disappointed with either of these players, out of the 2 D men though, I would prefer Makar, even if he is more boom/bust pick, dude has speed for days and is not on the lighter side and can hold his own against heavier players, and his offense is on a whole other level. The Canucks have Juolevi and if they take Makar, can you imagine how good these 2 will be when they play with each other in the near future.
  2. just watching the TSN Mock Draft and was taken by surprise that they dropped Benning in there for a live interview on his thoughts on the upcoming draft and how he felt about the Glass selection for the Canucks and you could see a small cheeky smile develop before he caught himself getting too excited hahaha..... anyways on top of that, he pronounced Sven Baertschis last name as in 'Bar'chi vs what I thought it was, 'Bear'tchi.
  3. If the top 4 centres are off the board, Benning will take either Pettersson or Makar/Liljegren. I don't think Pettersson would be a consolation prize either considering where he is playing and slated to play next year, on top of his chemistry he has with Dahlen which is an added bonus. He makes players around him better and was scoring 3 points per 60 minutes playing in a mens league underweight. He is deceptive and has the ability to be elusive in the offensive zone, if he can carry that over to NA ice he would be an offensive machine.
  4. Jeff Marek mock draft on SN today: http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/jeff-mareks-2017-nhl-mock-draft/ So, here’s my mock draft I submit, knowing full well that there is about zero chance it ends up following this order. 1. NEW JERSEY DEVILS Nico Hischier, Halifax Mooseheads (QMJHL): The Devils make the dynamic, two-way Swiss centre a key piece of their rebuild. 2. PHILADELPHIA FLYERS Nolan Patrick, Brandon Wheat Kings (WHL): The Flyers snag the player scouts have been raving about for years. He’ll be a high-end pro for many years. 3. DALLAS STARS Miro Heiskanen, HIFK (Finland): The Stars get back to drafting high-end blueliners early and take the top-rated defence prospect in the draft. 4. COLORADO AVALANCHE Cale Makar, Brooks Bandits (AJHL): It’s no secret the Avalanche need a whole lot of help with their blue-line and they take perhaps the most creatively gifted defenceman in the draft. 5. VANCOUVER CANUCKS Cody Glass, Portland Winterhawks (WHL): Sure Vancouver needs help on the blue-line but can’t pass up one of the highest risers in the draft. 6. VEGAS GOLDEN KNIGHTS Gabriel Vilardi, Windsor Spitfires (OHL): And with their first ever pick in the NHL Draft the Golden Knights take a champion. Dots down the best player in the draft. 7. ARIZONA COYOTES Casey Mittelstadt, Green Bay Gamblers (USHL). The Coyotes go with the slick skating, point-producing centre from Minnesota. 8. BUFFALO SABRES Timothy Liljegren, Rogle (Sweden): Job No. 1 for the Sabres is redo that blue-line. Liljegren is a step in that direction. 9. DETROIT RED WINGS Elias Pettersson, Timra (Sweden): After focusing out on defencemen in the last couple of drafts, the Red Wings go with the skilled Swedish centre. 10. FLORIDA PANTHERS Kristian Vesalainen, HPK (Finland): Has all the skills to fit the prototype power forward mould for the modern game. Struggled early in the season but turned it on at the end.
  5. probably mine since before the end of the season haha, I have a problem too
  6. If that is how it plays out and Vancouver selects Pettersson while Vilardi is still on the board, I think CDC would be up in arms haha, I don't think I would be disappointed because Pettersson oozes offensive skills and has the size just not the weight. Remember Karlsson and Zetterburg were like this too, but they rounded into form by the time they hit the show.
  7. I hope Colorado or Dallas take a defenceman with their 1st pick then that leaves us either Vilardi or Glass, can't really go wrong with either, would be nice to have some taller players with skill and can also throw their weight around.
  8. Strong down the middle with the potential of playing on the wing as well, can you imagine, oh man, that would be sick!!
  9. This year at 5 does not feel like last year at 5. Even if it goes 1. Patrick 2. Hischier 3. Vilardi 4. Glass there are still a few great potential 1C options available as well as good defensive prospects. It opens up even more if either Heiskanen or Makar are taken in those 3 and 4 spots doesn't it. Myself, I will probably stand up if one of those guys goes in the 3 or 4 spot because of the potential drafting of either Glass or Vilardi, I will stand up and scream in joy haha.... I like Makar more than Heiskanen but this year with our 1st selection we need that potential 1C and there are more of those options this year and more Defensive selections in next years draft. This draft is going to be exciting and we need Benning to not be the Benning of last year but one that picks a C this year.
  10. who is Middlestadts comparable to in the NHL? he has some of the best stick handling and is very shifty in the o zone.
  11. Be nice if we got that 2nd 1st round pick wouldn't it, then CDC would be as happy as clams haha... If we go with Makar I won't be disappointed, dude is an offensive dynamo on the back end, he has speed for days and can change his angles just as fast, I didn't think crossing over on someone on ice was possible until I saw him do it, he crossed someone over so bad by the time they finished falling he was moving in the other direction about 3 or 4 feet out haha
  12. I don't think that would be a big transition for him to go from big ice to smaller ice, not if he has a high hockey IQ. He is like Glass in terms of his stock just keeps rising. I have a feeling if Glass and Vilardi are gone after the big 2, it is going to be Pettersson selected at 5 due to his connection with Dahlen.
  13. it will go Patrick, Hischier, Vilardi, Glass..... then who do the Canucks take lol? middlestadt, pettersson, makar or heiskanen
  14. Haha I have to agree, either Glass or Vilardi please, CDC would be up in arms
  15. The Hockey Writers website did a full 7 round mock draft the other day. http://thehockeywriters.com/6th-annual-nhl-mock-draft-2017-sneak-peek/ Their top 10 off the board. 1. New Jersey - Patrick 2. Philadelphia - Hischier 3. Dallas - Heiskanen 4. Colorado - Makar 5. Vancouver - Pettersson 6. Las Vegas - Vilardi 7. Arizona - Liljegren 8. Buffalo - Tippett 9. Detroit - Necas 10. Florida - Middlestadt Glass goes at 13 to Winnipeg. With the 33rd pick they selected for the Canucks another C - Marcus Davidsson??
  16. Oh Vilardi is ranked 4th best prospect by Canucks Army and that means Glass is 3rd best prospect behind Hischier and Patrick. Article just came out. Let the we are not getting Glass cry start. https://canucksarmy.com/2017/06/15/nation-network-2017-prospect-profiles-4-gabriel-vilardi/
  17. well no trade to Tampa hey, Canadiens acquired Drouin from Tampa
  18. I don't know, anything is possible at this point, with Benning I am almost expecting it hah
  19. is there a draft party taking place anywhere? Rogers Arena going to have one again I imagine
  20. It will be the longest 2 minutes is it, (how long do teams have before making a pick at the draft?), for us CDCers when the 5th pick is up and Benning and team go to the podium to make their announcement, and then the fun of reading all the crying by people who didn't want said pick lol.
  21. Outside of the top 2, I have no idea who goes when haha, it will be some good fun to watch
  22. the rise of Cody Glass continues pushing down Vilardi & Middlestadt
