Waiting till next season, to approve of what was done today. Need to see if the league will enact a new, retroactive rule that punishes the team.

[Signing] Golden Knights re-sign Nic Hague
Gurn replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
The problem with signing a 'team friendly' deal, due to low state taxes is they can still trade your ass to a high tax team and leave you feeling completely hosed. Anyone that signs a team friendly deal, without securing a NTC, is being very, very naive. -

'Reporter' called out by former player- this is ugly stuff: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/sports/nhl/akim-aliu-wayne-simmonds-respond-to-reporter-s-racist-column/ar-AA12NKQH?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=3fb7bdaaa63b4bdcbb9e9f7b51ca6f50 "Akim Aliu, the chair of the Hockey Diversity Alliance, defended himself against from Toronto Sun columnist Steve Simmons on Sunday, who accused the 33-year-old of not being able to know what’s wrong with hockey. Simmons wrote in his Sunday Notes column that Aliu played for 23 teams over the course of 12 years in professional hockey, and contrasted his career with that of Toronto Maple Leafs forward Wayne Simmonds, dismissing Aliu’s contention that his journey in hockey was plagued by incidents of racism, while Simmonds was able to carve out a successful NHL career. "No one wants to say this because of the politically correct police and all, but those who coached Akim Aliu must cringe every time they see him in a news report or a commercial talking about what's wrong with hockey. Like he would know," Simmons wrote. "By my count, Aliu played for 23 teams in nine different leagues in 12 professional seasons and rarely finished any season with the same team he started with. If that was colour-related, how is it that Wayne Simmonds spent just about the same 12 seasons playing in the NHL?" Aliu responded with a blistering, concise message Sunday: “The only reason I’m addressing this is because it’s all over the internet. I’ve seen Steve talk negatively about me for some time now and the funny thing is I’ve never spoken to him, or met him in my life. I actually found out what he said through other members of the Hockey Diversity Alliance. People like Steve are what’s wrong with society. This is the first time in history the crucial conversation of race is prevalent. I believe my story and what the HDA is doing is a major reason for that. “You have absolutely no clue, Steve, what I and my family have been through both physically and emotionally since I’ve started playing hockey and the scars it has left. When I showed this to my dad, he literally broke out in tears.” Aliu then recounted the several racist experiences he faced in his career, which Simmons dismissed in his column. “The real question here is are you saying there’s no racism in the game with everything that’s gone on? What are you actually trying to do by comparing myself to Wayne, who is an incredible leader in this space and is promoting the same message as I? What coaches are you referring to? Guys like Bill Peters? Are you saying I didn’t get called a n— and get sent down to the [ECHL] when I was actually leading my AHL team in scoring in my first professional season? Are you saying I wasn’t hazed in my rookie year in the OHL, made to strip naked in a bathroom with five other men and afterwards got my teeth cross checked out for not wanting to do it again and subsequently get blackballed by Hockey Canada as my stock dropped?” Simmonds also responded shortly after Aliu tweeted his response to Simmons. “I really don’t appreciate what you're trying to do [Steve Simmons] your article was asinine and in no way reflects the real plight that my self, Akim and other players of colour go through,” Simmonds tweeted. "You are minimizing the pain and suffering and dismissing the actual fight that we as a people actually have to endure just to even be accepted in the game of hockey at a lower level, nevermind the professional ranks," he said. "Do not ever use my name or any other player of colour's name to try and make your point. "We will no longer sit by quietly as our characters are assassinated Steve! This will only make us stronger and speak out against people of your nature." Aliu ended his response by calling Simmons a racist. “You are racist and you are arrogant. You have zero credibility and respect from even your own peers in the media space and athletes alike. If the Toronto Sun had any integrity whatsoever, you’d never write another column again. Once again I’m going to tell you, you will never divide us.” -
Just coming to the site to say " Don't take anything the Canuck org. says about injuries as the truth." Seems like they are engaging in misinformation, a lot. Maintenance day- turns into 3-4 weeks. Dermott's concussion took quite some time to admit to as well. Edit Hughes not playing " We know what he can do" turns into Hughes has the flu"

The play with Bo and Springer colliding should not have happened. Big mistake there. Just accept you won't catch the ball, get it off the ground and throw to second. concede 1 run for an out. Fundamentals are not always fun, but should always be used. -

So it is the writer's opinion then? If so should that not be part of a new sentence? Calling all teachers, and @stawns , by name. -

Will Butcher or Myers, depending on what side they play, might be worth some consideration. -

This is very good news. They would have a tough time finding two better actors for those roles. D'Onofrio is scary as hell as Kingpin. -

I've been watching She-Hulk, and found it to be ok. Slightly different, rampant '4th wall' breaking. CGI is ok for a tv series. They are however, repeating the whole " You must represent this client"; "I don't want to" thing way too much. Really liked the 'super hero' team up between the man in yellow and the green skinned goddess. Seems like the return of Dare Devil to his own series is coming. As long as they keep Charlie Cox in that role, I'll watch. Biggest piss off: It is now 2022 and I am sick and freaking tired of the whole "She sleeps around/whore/slut" angle being trotted out. I know this is a series based on a comic book, but enough with the sex shaming. I may not watch again. -

Potential trade bait George " I can't stay healthy" Springer 1 of 3 very good catchers 1 of Zimmer, Bradley or Merrifield- preferably Zimmer or Bradley as they are the weaker hitters Need at least 3 different arms in the bull pen. Need 1 more quality starter-and a return to form from Ryu and Kikuchi. Need to get the players to stop watching the ball to see if it leaves the park, and just run when they hit the ball. Need to teach some of these guys how to lay down a bunt Need to work on base running, when and how, to advance on those long fly balls. I'd like to see a bit more base stealing. The team needs some work, or they are wasting years of potential -
Pay Pal maybe facing oblivion, due to weird policy: https://www.msn.com/en-ca/news/technology/new-paypal-rule-the-company-can-take-2-500-from-your-account-for-sharing-misinformation-update/ar-AA12KrF5?ocid=msedgdhp&pc=U531&cvid=8e373eef658c402f805e2c1bc00c5a76 "Alittle less than a week before the midterm elections in November, a new PayPal account update will take effect that has sent the internet into an uproar — and also drawn condemnation from PayPal’s former president David Marcus. What’s happening: PayPal is updating its acceptable use policy, with the update taking effect on November 3. You might say to yourself, well, I don’t use my account with the financial services company for anything improper or illegal, so what do I have to worry about? Here’s why that might not necessarily be true: PayPal says it’s expanding its existing list of prohibited activities to include the “sending, posting, or publication of messages, content, or materials that meet certain criteria.” The full details are explained right here, but PayPal is basically set to start levying a fine when users are found to have shared “misinformation” or promoted content that’s deemed to be “discriminatory” or promoting “hate.” PayPal account update The list of prohibited activities is broader than that, but it’s especially the prohibition on sharing “misinformation” that’s giving many people pause. Moreover, PayPal gives itself the right to debit $2,500 from your PayPal account for each violation of this new, expanded acceptable use policy. Marcus, for his part, described this new policy as “insanity.” A tweet from him on Saturday, October 8, reads in part: “A private company now gets to decide to take your money if you say something they disagree with.” Venture capitalist David Sacks chimed in, in response to Marcus: “Get your money out of PayPal right now.” Elon Musk, an erstwhile member of the OG “PayPal Mafia,” also added his approval to Marcus’ tweet, writing simply: “Agreed.” As word of this PayPal change began to spread over the weekend, FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr described what’s happening here as “Orwellian.” “PayPal reserves the right to take your money if you post a message that PayPal decides is “misinformation,'” he tweeted. “This is why it is so vital that state and federal legislatures pass laws that prohibit discrimination by tech companies and protect free speech.” UPDATE (9/8/2022) After this post was published, PayPal released a statement to media outlets insisting that the company will not, in fact, fine users for the dissemination of misinformation: “An AUP notice recently went out in error that included incorrect information. PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy. Our teams are working to correct our policy pages. We’re sorry for the confusion this has caused.” BUT: As of the time of this writing on Saturday night, October 8, the language noted in the post above is nevertheless still included in PayPal’s user agreement (here). The apology has also struck many people as odd, because you’d think that language like this wouldn’t accidentally materialize — in precisely constructed corporate-speak — on a policy page “in error” or randomly. Especially when PayPal has already more or less gone down this road before, deplatforming account-holders for reasons similar to what this new policy language spells out.
