  1. That is the worst part of his game. Guy is very good at the plate, runs the bases well and has decent range in the field. But those throw aways hurt
  2. His voice is unmistakable. Glad to se he is still going. Last I'd seen from him was this
  3. Shorty, looks like he's about to take a swing at whoever is taking the picture!
  4. Brock was getting $5,875,000 and got re-signed to $6,650,000. If you know you are short of cap space, you either don't sign Brock or if you do sign Brock, you make sure you don't add so much cap hit that you now have to give up a player, and a pick, to clear the space you could have got, without giving up a pick.
  5. It is however JR's fault for not signing Brock to that deal, or letting him walk for nothing more than the cap space, that they will now likely have to give up assets to get anyway.
  6. I know that some thought those wins would build 'character'; however many that think that way, also thought the same thing about last year's winning streak; which did not seem to carry over. I think those extra wins were at the cost of development, and identification of the younger players roles and growth potential. don't know if Wolanin can carry a power play in the absence of Hughes, as he got very little time to try. don't know if Delia is actually good enough to re-sign as back up; as he sat while Demko started. Same with Silovs and to a lesser extent Martin.( I'm pretty sure that Martin is not starter quality, but he may be ok as a true back up.) Who can take some of the p.k. burden from Petey and Hughes?- would have been nice to know, prior to next season. Last couple minutes of a close game and the stars should have been sat down, to see if the others can carry the load, even for short times.
  7. And the cap mismanagement just continues under the new guys. The new guys have put millions on the cap, over 25% of the cap is JR and PA money signings
  8. But aren't the better character players higher in the draft.? Seems like those players with better character would go higher in the draft, but maybe it's just me, that thinks that way?
  9. For me: I'd rather have the 5th pick in the first round than the 11th. Play the odds, and hope the draft lotto doesn't hose you. Not just because it would be for the first round, better draft spot; but because it would be the 5th spot in every round, rather than the 11th pick in every round. Round by round the advantage of picking earlier grows- before you know it, a real difference in outcomes.
  10. Well that is one way to get out of paying him for 7 years. Good luck to him.
  11. dude looks like Burton Cummings and John Garrett's other brother. Or is it Pedro Pascal?
  12. Gabe is a member of my "what could have been" player's club. Players that due to injury, or other problems, never have the career that could have been.
  13. Some folk say you pick the best player available, regardless of position; and then trade to fill the needed positional spot. But it seems trades are not that easy, between cap and cba rules, so is it not better to draft by position, after all?
  14. Every day I walk past our local "The Brick" store and see them advertising their stuff as " On sale" 'Was $2300, now $1500" and think- 'wow they over price their stuff, so much, to make it seem like you get a deal". They really didn't like it when I tried to knock $500 off, of their $700 tv. I just told them I learned this lesson from how you price your other stuff. To me sales prices are just stores admitting they were screwing me over all the other times I was there. I know there will be times they get a 'good' price from their suppliers, and pass it on, but mostly it is marketing gimmickry. Something in the human thinking process that makes Us think $1.99 per is so much cheaper than $2 per.
  15. so, I go to renew my house insurance, and find that I'm looking at a doubling of my premium, although my house 'only' gained 39% over last year.
