  1. I still can't make any sense of why the Canucks would want Lucic. ANY. When every other team in the league is trying to add speed and grit. Does JB think that THIS is the move that will save his job?

just read on tsn today that a guy from the Athletics said Edmonton should offer no more than a prospect from the 6th round, I am not sure of his name but if Canucks want more, than the oilers should hang up on Benning. I sure as heck hope Benning is not even going that route, we do not need Lucic.  there are too many other players out there that can skate  score and protect our young guys. the Canucks would be laughed at around the league if that happens!

I was initially very much against the idea of bringing Lucic here, but after Eriksson's comments I think I'd welcome the change. Or at least I'd definitely be willing to give Lucic a few chances here before writing him off. He could potentially be a very valuable addition if he finds a little bit of his offense here while being a physical beast. He can be that intimidating physical presence in our forward group we've been missing since Dorsett. If he has an offensive touch, that would just be pure bonus. Eriksson is not doing much on this team so even if Lucic is just a physical force on the 4th line, I'd take that over Eriksson. The extra year in his contract and the way his contract is structured means that Edmonton definitely has to add before we take him off their hands.

EDIT: Eriksson is actually an upgrade over Lucic defensively, and he's a decent PK'er but we have a TON of forwards with his skillset that can take over his PK duties. We don't have anyone that provides what Lucic could potentially provide.

Lucic is still a physical monster and who knows what a change of scenery could do for him. Getting someone like Yamamoto would be perfect since we likely wouldn’t have to protect him for the expansion draft.
