  1. They were playing like this before Torts was suspended.
  2. Given we can't score, this game is pretty well over after 6 minutes. I feel sorry for the boys to tell you the truth. It's not on them, but rather their inept GM.
  3. Actually, I would strongly consider this. Those kids are going to be studs.
  4. I agree. Kes just does so many things for this team. Probably means the end of the line for Burr and Hansen on the forward side, with Bieksa and Edler going from the defence. If we could somehow keep Bieksa and move Garrison instead I'd be happier.
  5. Pretty well what we thought, but good to see and hear it, especially coming from Pierre. I read this as meaning we'll be trading core pieces that can fetch us top prospects and high picks. My worry is that MG will go for quantity over quality. I'd rather he try to package a couple of guys, to try and get us a blue chipper.
  6. We all know how much Danny is struggling to score goals, but it wasn't until I saw this stat that it really hit home for me: "Since March 21st, 2012 Daniel has lit the lamp a measly 25 times in 107 games. As a frame of reference, David Booth has scored 22 goals in 106 games as a Canuck, and consistently gets skewered for it." http://canucksarmy.com/2014/1/29/the-elephant-in-the-room-daniel-sedins-scoring-woes Yikes.
  7. Sad isn't it. Canuck fans have no right to mock Coilers or Lames fans because while they've been living in the past, they at least have cups. My mom was the biggest Canuck fan I knew and she passed away last year without ever seeing her team lift the cup. I keep thinking that there's no way the Canucks will not win a cup in my lifetime, but then I think of the Cubs...and lose all hope.
  8. I got home late tonight and just finished watching another debacle. I don't know what to say anymore about this group. Kesler, love the guy because while he didn't score, did everything else out there. The guy is the only one in the top 6 contributing in so many other ways to this team by blocking shots, PK'ing, PP'ing, and actually hitting people out there. Danny was invisible as usual and unlike Kes, he does nothing else to impact the game. Second line wasn't bad. Third and fourth lines should have played way more. Looking forward to hearing MG spew his typical BS in his next interview about waiting for Santos, Hank, Alberts and Tanev to get healthy before he makes any decisions with this team. Same core, same crap, different day. Thank you Mike Gillis.
  9. Too bad about Tanev. Unfortunately this gives Gillis another excuse to use at his end of season press conference if heaven forbid this team doesn't make the playoffs.
  10. No to Bo. Or any of our top prospects. We are not one or two players away from a cup.
  11. Absolutely agreed. And Hank shouldn't follow too far behind him either. They are wonderful people who've been the face of the franchise for many years and who helped this team reach a level of respectability and consistency we could have only dreamed of when they were still baby faced 20 year olds. But their games have deteriorated rapidly, injuries or not, and another 3 years of $14 million in cap space taken up by them means our rebuild will take a lot longer than it should.
  12. No surprise at all. It hasn't been good enough for over 2 years. The surprise is all the hockey experts on here that think that this almost three year old downward trend will suddenly and magically be turned around by the same aging and stale core.
  13. That team that came in 8th was stocked with talent, traded for Jeff Carter, fired their coach, and were the hottest team in the league from January onwards. They were never a true 8th place team to begin with.
  14. Funny you say this, but this has been my feeling for a good couple of years now.
  15. Bang on. Except that I didn't believe that a coaching change would make much of a difference with this team. That's not a reflection of Torts' coaching ability, but more a reflection that the core, and MG's reluctance to tinker with it, was the real issue.
  16. Yes, because a healthy Henrik was helping the team score at a healthy clip before he got injured.
  17. Daniel in the post game scrums: I think we played good enough to win the game. Maybe we can hang that right up there with those President's trophy banners and that moral victory last week.
  18. The last time the Canucks scored at this low a pace, AV was early in his tenure as coach and was having laughing fits in his media scrums because of just how stupid the whole "team can't score" thing was getting. Unfortunately we don't have a maturing young core coming to the rescue like we did back then. I just don't see us getting out of this scoring drought any time soon.
  19. Bang on. I kept watching as that goon-man Gazdic kept trying to bait him into dropping the gloves. Looked like he was getting to Kass on the bench with all the chirping and a couple of times in scrums on the ice, but Kass just focussed on the task at hand. I'm really impressed with the growth Kass has shown lately by not getting suckered into letting the other teams' goons take him off the ice and knowing when not scrap. He showing signs that his head just might be catching up to his physical abilities.
  20. Anyone else notice that same line that Hartley started against us played again against the Sharks last night and Westgarth actually scored.
  21. You are aware that the Flames did as well right?
  22. That's what we thought about the LA game. Then came Anaheim. So don't get your hopes up.
