  1. Honestly, Kes is the one in that locker room those players will follow into battle.
  2. I wouldn't say we're a tough hockey club. But I think the last week or so has been a message to the rest of the league that we won't take their crap laying down anymore.
  3. After getting out of the box with Giordano, he look and played like a man on a mission. Looks like Kass is starting to getting it.
  4. Torts is becoming an embarrassment.
  5. Watching Hank and he's barely skating out there.
  6. Possibly down to 3 D-men? Holy crap.
  7. His parents flew out from Ontario to see 2 seconds.
  8. So why did Torts sacrifice Bieksa again? It's not like Lain is a little dude.
  9. This 100%!!!!!! You don't get an opportunity to get this type of player very often.
  10. Yes, because Schroeder, Stanton, Burrows and Alberts will soon be back to save us and all will be good again. Right?
  11. I'm looking at them. I'm also looking at an 8th place team that is a shadow of its' former self.
  12. That's the best game I've ever seen Booth play. The fourth line was the best line all night. Sad that again our top players can't seem to positively impact big games anymore.
  13. So I guess the boys hung their hats on the moral victory in L.A. then? That's the type of character that'll win us a cup Mike.
  14. I agree. The twins get little respect from refs. But the twins aren't alone. Sid the Kid takes a ton of crap and cheap shots. This league just does not take care of its stars.
  15. Good game. Yeah we lost, but I loved that the team made their point by making it a tougher night on the Kings than they would have liked. But it certainly was a reminder of what this team is and has been lacking...big bodies and more scoring. Sure in a one game takes all we can hang with anybody, but to have to play a 7 game series against the Kings, Ducks, Blues...etc will once again take it's toll on the team. We just don't have enough big bodies to survive longer series in the playoffs against teams like this. Bieksa, Kes and Kass all spent time in the box while the Kings lost Brown, Greene and Mitchell for parts of the game. Bad trade-off for us when we're losing our top players while they're losing depth guys to penalty trouble and again reinforces our need for a Steve Ott type of player...a player that can inflict some pain, but that we can also afford to lose to penalty trouble.
  16. I love what this coaching staff is doing with him. No external pressure by putting him on the first line. Nope. Just having him work on his game by doing the little things on the third and fourth lines. His game suddenly looks much more well rounded and mature, and now we can see all that raw talent coming together. His skill and enthusiasm last night was awesome.
  17. But think about how you'll feel in April when the Canucks are golfing because shat happened a few nights in a row.
  18. Short term it hurts us, but longer term it shortens the retool. Doing nothing turns us into Edmonton within 3 years.
  19. Phoenix is 4 points behind...with 3 games in hand.
  20. It shouldn't be a surprise as we've seen this type of thing regularly from this group for the last 3 years. Ever since the SCF, this team just seems to get overwhelmed for periods of time. And the only constant between then and now is the core of this team, so people can draw their own conclusions. Hint, it's not the coach!
  21. Outside of the huge choke job, I liked a lot about our game tonight... - Lack played great again, otherwise the game would have been over after the first period. - Sestito is starting to look like he could actually become a decent hockey player. - Kass had another solid game and looked awesome on that second line with Kes and Higgy.
  22. Wasn't referring to a specific deal, but what he probably could have gotten had he actually played his cards properly and traded him from a position of strength the previous summer or at the trade deadline. There were comparables: Bernier got Scrivens, Frattin and a 2nd round pick; Caps traded Varlamov to the Avs for a 1st and 2nd round picks; the Bruins were even able to trade a retired Tim Thomas to the Islanders for a 2nd rounder. I don't know, maybe I valued Schneids too high, but it just seems that compared to these other goalies, Schneids might have been at the top of most teams lists as a young starting goalie to build your team around. And while the top 10 pick we used on Horvat was good, I just feel that if Gillis were not in the obvious position of weakness he was in and that he himself created, we could have gotten at least another high pick.
  23. True for any team really. Even though I hate the guy, how can you not admire what Dustin Brown did to us the night before. He decided to take matters into his own hands after the Canucks dominated the first period and essentially put his team on his back and did what he had to do to help his team win. That's what a captain does.
