  1. Question of the day...........

In the last 12 years, have we ever been under .500 in November and been a playoff team in April?

      Yes, I remember............lol

      I guess, by how I asked............that is a " Playoff team" LOL

      Man..........:picard:

I guess my question was going towards, was it really worth it to push for the playoffs at the end of each year, like we have..............

I suppose you could ask the 2019 Blues that question and see what they think.

  2. I am very underwhelmed over the past 2 draft days..............but, there is always tomorrow, and these kids are 17/18 years old. I guess we will see!

I believe that all the picks were ranked higher by elite prospects than the spot we got them at. That might be encouraging.

Its also interesting that they didn't feel pressure to pick for need (RHD) vs who they thought the BPA was... isn't that something people around here have always asked for?

    2. Harold Drunken

      Harold Drunken

Truth is, most people on here don't know enough about these prospects to judge if they were good picks or not. I'll let the guys and girls who watched them play the last 2-3 years to make the call on that. I just hope in 2-3 years from now we see them in green and blue and they contribute .

    3. Coconuts

      Coconuts

I'd have liked more picks, but the reality is this is what drafts are like when you're not picking with high picks in each round. If they went BPA that's good enough for me, they can address immediate need another way.

Immediate needs can change within the 2-3 years it'll optimistically take a prospect to make it, we've been spoiled by top 10 talent stepping in right away or shortly after.

pretty exciting times tho. I like what I'm hearing about who Rutherford is looking at for GM and AGM jobs. I like hearing he's not interested in trading futures. I like that he's a proven winner.

Part of me still feels a bit bad for Benning, I think he was a decent person.

      @JM_

Not really into it. He hires a woman because she is the best candidate with a vagina. Were there any non female candidates? I'm all for equality but hiring someone based on gender is not the right way to achieve that. Allvin for AGM dude has never drafted a player like ever. Sure Pits was a good team but that doesn't excuse not drafting 1 single NHL player. I dunno man JB needed help he needed assistants he was doing fine at what he was good at but he needed people to help him to have success and advise him. JR comes in with the Midas touch and honestly what I'm seeing from him is pretty piss poor management.

  9. I just watched a little clip on CNN where the US doctors have made a scoring system for use of ventilators, when then is not enough. So it basically goes that if you have pre-existing conditions...aka heart disease, cancer, COPD, asthma, age, etc then you might have a score that is lower than another person needing the ventilator. I understand the theory, but god, I hope we don't do that up here. But the reality is it is triage, and is done every where......

"Save the ones you have the best chance of saving"

I don't stand a chance if it comes to that. But I understand.

I feel sorry for the doctor that has to make that choice.

    1. JM_

      JM_

it will also be based on money in the US. If you have enough you'll be abel to buy a spot in a private hospital, which gives less incentive for the system to try to solve the problem for everyone.

Its hard to fathom that the US still prefers the system they have.

    2. King Heffy

      King Heffy

@Jimmy McGill hit the nail on the head.  Won't be the doctors making the call down there.  Be thankful we live in Canada and have a civilized health care system instead.

    3. DADDYROCK

      DADDYROCK

As we watch the world deal with this pandemic it is so obvious that our neighbors to the south are once again doing a pathetic job of looking after their own citizens. The Katrina disaster showed that the president and the federal government are very lacking in saving lives and doing what is right to save lives

The USA is and about to be even more so in a world of hurt, because they have a nincompoop as president once again, and it has shown that greed above human lives is what drives these maniacs.

Most of the people of the USA want healthcare for all but once again the greed wins out and democracy goes out the window.

When you have a president that on live T.V. says he takes NO RESPONSIBILITY and blames everyone but himself for the abysmal job he had done you are going to be in that world of hurt.

This time of year is usually my very favourite - winter starts showing signs of spring, BBQ's are fired up and hockey is really getting good.

It's a weird thing because, for me, as one sport "ends" I turn to another.  I've even taken an interest in basketball recently.  So it's so weird with...nothing.  Not even curling?  My good God, this is painful.  But necessary.

Time to reflect on how we can bind together, as human beings, and take care of each other.  Get through this and put down all the conflict and adversity to focus on being united.

if you run into alf in the desert and you’ve got some scotch, you might be able to make a trade. he might even give a ride on his scooter. if your lost in the desert, just start playing solitaire and for sure, someone will come by and remind you of a move.

I'm SO up for this remedy.

  14. Yes, no doubt about it.....it is why I am a little apprehensive about Hughes and Boqvist.......

Keep on getting images of Guys like Krog who try to side step checks and don't get completely out of the way.

I think.....great dekes are great for pond hockey, where there are no boards......keep on reminding myself of a time me and a buddy turned into each other.......he was a 165 lbs...me 215 lbs.........I won

But it is good he was quick, it could have been worse.....

It is why I like Dobson so much.....if we are going with a Dman........even Bouchard is considered a better than average skater..........just not an elite skater

I think both top out at 210 +..............with the possibility of both going before the other 2

That is why I was looking for a comment back on the genetics side of scouting....aka was the Dad and brothers big? An Uncle?.....could it matter?

    Thanks for messaging me back......

    Regards Paul

      Alflives

We have Guddy, who is huge.  Edler huge top, but he’s likely to be gone before Hughs or Boqvist made our team.  I can see a smaller Dman, providing he brings top end offence and he’s partnered with Guddy, who could do most of the heavy lifting.  I heard Hughs brings some nasty, like Duncan Keith, to his game.

  15. With all the $&!# Duchene has caused.......the Canucks offers will be

    Gudbranson + Baertschi + McEneny

    It will happen!

The Isles made an offer of Hamonic + 1st which Sakic turned down. Hamonic went for a 1st and 2 seconds. Sakic did get some solid offers but he wants a substantial haul including a young defenseman. Duchene does have significant value, just not the kind of value that Sakic wants.

Well, those are interesting fields........from a purely selfish POV......I hope you are in the medical fields, as I have had both heart attacks and cancer......everything's fine now, but the fields interest me from a personal and intellectual perspective..... in my case a little knowledge is dangerous......I am not at your level I am sure! lol Just an interest for me!

Regardless of what area your work and interest take you.....it must be purely fascinating! Cheers!

  18. Hi Tyhee

I can't waddle through all the negative chatter about this Gudbranson trade, to find your post, but I am curious how you feel  about it?

I remember writing a post about wanting a big bad defenceman, and now we have one, but we gave up a lot.....just thought I would say hi and get some feed back from you.

      Unfortunately, they are very long-winded.
