  1. So we add a Gaudette to the proposal....... LOL....something that CDC may have a hard time wrapping their collective heads around............lol
  2. You see N7, this is why I have a problem with some of CDC They can not see past their nose Remember the saying...."All that glitters is not Gold"? Here is the reality of Hughes Hughes is an elite Offensive Defenseman, but a sub-par defensive defenseman Hughes over all contribution to the Canucks, which includes PP and even strength Hughes is a -3 defenseman overall, or as close to that as I can make out Basically his -13 at even strength minus his plus 10 PP =, his -3 Taking the same formula, let's look at Ty Smith Smith is a +7 at even strength plus his 2 PP = his + 9 overall ratng a difference of +12 between Hughes and Ty Smith Now when you look at Ty Smith's numbers in junior he was +49 even before PP points are added in his last year Now, all I am saying is temper your opinion on Quinn Hughes as I would not argue that my calculations are incomplete, but using the same theory for both and you can see the results Yes Hughes is better and more dynamic, but a high 1st line player (Nolan Foote + a high 1st better?
  3. Hey, I would trade my mother, if I could improve the team. She is tougher than Horvat, and the ref would know exactly what he did wrong!
  4. Just trying to take my mind off last game............. Ok, so here is the proposal Ty Smith, Nolan Foote and NJ Devils, 2021 1st for Quinn Hughes Admittedly, Smith is a step down from Hughes offensively, but he is a bigger and much better defense player. Nolan Foote has the ability to be a 1st line LWer, who is a big body, and plays a grittier game. The first should be in the top 10, which should give us a pretty decent prospect. Yes you love Hughes, but is the move a good move for the Canucks, Smith looks to be a normal 54 pt average 1st line defenseman, and probably show a little higher on the offensive Canucks. Ty Smith will cost less, coming off his ELC in 2 more years, for a much more controlled cap hit.
  5. About retaliatory fights Ever since the Bertuzzi/Moore incident, players have been alot more careful to not go out of their way, after the incident, there by not having as many 2nd game type retaliatory premeditated fights. It is not that it does not happen, but it is much more part of the 2nd game play, rather than skate up to a guy and jump him. It is much more planned and discussed between the players planning to fight. Which is why you see, more 2nd game fights that are void of secondary scrums, and more before the play starts. Basically, the guy knows something is coming and the tough guy comes over and says in warm up, they are going to start me, and I am coming over to fight you. It is very civilized in a weird way. This is to control incidental injuries, such as Moores, when in the heat of the moment, too many guys are involved, there by increasing the chance of injury. Old time hockey, is gone for the most part. Now a days, these guys are practicing with each other all summer, in different ice rentals, so there is much more friendships happening, multiply that with the general publics distain for violence, and there is just not as much of that in compared to yester year. This is why, I get so upset with Horvat, because it was in the moment, where there should be a instinctual response, as a team mate and as a captain. Again, if Horvat responds to the 1st occurrence, the second one does not happen. IMO IMO, since we do not have that tough guy, I think the incident is over.
  6. Well, if he has a down year, there will be a good arguement, depending on by how much But Barzal was a low 60 points guy, and Pettersson is at a 54 point over 82 game rate and like some one else pointed out, if some of his posts go in.....he is close
  7. I would not give him a long term deal yet............a bridge works for everyone
  8. I have a different take on Jakes reaction to Forbort First off, Jake went right into that pile and grabbed a guy (he actually jump up above the pile to grab the guy) Then, somewhere during the scrum, Jake grabbed Pionk, and pretty much manhandled him, pulling all the way over to the Canuck bench Now, "IF" Horvat would have done that, on the first occasion with Forbort, the 2nd altercation may never have happened Poor response by the Canuck captain and the referees, caused the 2nd occurrence........ IMO, Jake showed good judgement and supported his team-mate, maybe our captain should have!
  9. Hey DeNiro Just a question for you because you brought it up (not picking on you) Can you explain to me why Pettersson will get more than Barzal's 7 Million bridge deal? I am just having a hard time understand why he should get more
  10. I was so upset last night, I did not say anything positive about anything...... But Juolevi and Hoglander are playing so well for rookies, it is just a pleasure to watch Just can not wait until Podkolzin and hopefully Lind join us next year. I am feeling a little spoiled Loving Juolevi's open ice hits!
  11. A little testy today Deb....lol Me too! I still have not let it go! I too, tried to respond to last night PGT, but was locked out. LOL I really think we need to respond, with a very physical game, against Ehlers and others That was just bull $hit! and can not be ignored! Myers is my hero, for his response last night.........and if Horvat is not Pi$$ed off still, he should not be captain. I think I am more mad at Horvat for his lack of response than anything.........very disappointing! Very!
  12. I think that is a fair opinion All, I would say is, that you can still be a skilled player and be tough But when you put that C on your jersey, you have to lead Example......you and I are buds....and if I seen you down getting pounded on There is no way, I could just walk by and let you keep taking it Now you put the C on me, and I wore one for years, I would have done what Myers did and if someone would have grabbed me before I got there then God help the guy, or me, but it would not be for lack of try and as I was getting up, I would be screaming, not about the guy that grabbed me but about the guy that just jumped my rookie team-mate who was 7 inches and 30 lbs lighter And I would be trying to put guys into the stands every chance I got for the rest of the night But hey, that is me!....all legal hits, but hard and heavy I am the Captain.....I make the statement!
  13. Just here reading some post, and thought maybe I should explain...aggression on the ice. 1st off, if you take hitting out of boxing, all you have is a stare off.....3 minute rounds of just standing there looking at each other 2ndly, if there is no hitting in football, the score would be 15000 to 14993....last touch down wins.......... Now that might some confusing, but hockey, like lacrosse is a game of aggression and hitting, and if you teams gets pushed around you will most likely loose Hockey is a game of emotion, as well, and if you show more than the other team, you will most likely win That does not mean instigating goonery, it means pushing guys off the puck, it means battling in front of the net, it means never loosing the battles. But if you accept loosing the battles............you will loose the game, plain and simple There are far too many players on this team accepting that.
  14. I have to admit....... I use it both ways........today, I am sad but sometimes, someone will say something, that is just stupid.......Like really sad! LOL So, I get it!
  15. It is the sad emoji I was going to give you one too Because I am sad too! LOL
  16. Just ignore my tone Ok, look Horvat is a whiner.....he whines to the refs and he whines to the opposition I remember one time, where I heard him say........"Come on man! Geez!".....true story! Instead, he should have just sped up and drove a guy into the boards......Trust me, he is big enough to do it right Maybe even cross check someone like Forget, or what ever the hell his name is Look everybody watches out for Marchand......how many watch out for Horvat......that is my point Absolutely no aggression at all......no physical statements You make physical statements, and short sentences........send the assistant over to discuss calls you go over and tell fact, and you will be respected a hell of alot more and you will get room, and they will know you are coming, if they want to slash Hoglander....... It is not a threat,,,,,,,it is fact! Players understand that, a whole lot more. Look at how many times Gudbranson has to fight.........he says he doesn't like it But he will kill you if you insist Same with Lucic, to a lesser level But the point is, your word has to mean something, and so does your actions Trust me again, if they know you are coming......they think twice! Horvat is 6'1" and 216 lbs............again, I think he can handle it and that is a captain
  17. I agree, that is what Horvat was thinking, because he learned from the Sedin's The truth is, though, that if Hoglander gets hurt on the play, or on the last play, and there was no response Does it hurt our team long run......how many games does Hoglander miss Horvat should just have baseball swung his stick on the back of the idiots legs and put him down Then he could have asked the refs, what they were thinking, as he went to the box IMO,. that sends a lessen that may save teeth later on, so, although I understand Horvat has to man up at some point..............he is a lousy captain
  18. I think where Benning is missing the boat is in team toughness We were so short on talent when he came, that is what he focused on, and a good thing he did but now, we have to fix some toughness into the line up People on here do not see the benefit of a Sam Bennett or a Nick Paul but the truth is, they play tough all the time, every shift, and no one really wants to piss them off Now I am not saying we have to get those 2 exactly, but we need to inject that into our lineup You can start with MacEwen, and Tryamkin later on, but it has to go deeper Think about this for a minute.....Pettersson, Hughes, Hoglander, Juolevi, Gaudette, all light weigh guys You need to have some deterrents..... I hope everyone appreciates Myers for what he did tonight.....it too bad he got there late!
  19. Rosaire Paiement Center -- shoots R Born Aug 12 1945 -- Earlton, ONT [75 yrs. ago] Height 5.11 -- Weight 170 [180 cm/77 kg] Curt Fraser Left Wing -- shoots L Born Jan 12 1958 -- Cincinnati, OH [63 yrs. ago] Height 6.00 -- Weight 200 [183 cm/91 kg] And yes they were friggin tough!
  20. You know DC He is the friggin captain It does not matter if he is tough He should be answering the bell regardless way to many big guys, taking the free ride this is hockey, not frigging ringette
  21. What pisses me off Smashin Is that Horvat is right there..............I am so annoyed with Horvat this year...........216 lbs! And he lets Hogs get smashed 3 frigging times the first time Do you think if he would have responded, maybe the 2nd occurrence would not have happened?
