I don't know Dib. I could be wrong but, Edler seemed to handle it in stride. That probably frustrated Tkapuke. I mean, what was Tkapuke able to accomplish, acting up like that? Nothing as far as I could see. Did Edler hide.....no, he just did not react, like Tkapuke wanted him too. It will not change Edler's game, it never has. IMO, he has a lot of respect through out the league, for the way he plays. IMO, Tkapuke isn't big enough to bother Edler. Now if that was Lucic, it would have been a different matter and Edler would have tried to tie up Lucic more, but IMO, Tkapuke does not have it, and that is through the league by now. IMO, Edler is not bothered one bit. Not at all like the way the Sedin's were man handled......

No, Olli was not out of position Olli's job on that play was to take the puck carrier, which he did The winger coming back, who was 3 strides late, was suppose to take the guy that grabbed the puck. That player was number 18........ To support my case who had the puck? Tkapuke had the puck who was he attacking? Juolevi was who he was attacking what would have happened if Juolevi had not closed on the puck carrier Tkapuke would have gotten a break away or a high scoring chance shot So, no, Juolevi took the right guy Virtanen lost his man Now if the center had been back, he may have taken Tkapuke and Juolevi would have been freed up to take the winger But as it stands........no, Juolevi took the right guy

[Discussion] Tanner Pearson Can We Really Keep him?
J.I.A.H.N replied to Rush17's topic in Canucks Talk
Well, I thought the same as you, but Tanev got 4.5 Mill on a 4 year deal I see Edler as an equal in terms of ability, but see Edler being offered a little more on a shorter deal Personally, I hope you are right!....who knows, maybe its a Chara deal.....but I bet not Where do you rank Edler on our Defensive depth chart? -
[Discussion] Tanner Pearson Can We Really Keep him?
J.I.A.H.N replied to Rush17's topic in Canucks Talk
I could see that easily happening CT Like I said either moved (traded) or used as an incentive I could also see Virtanen moved, "IF" we get a young 3rd Line Center back I like Laughton in Phili and Bennet in Calgary, but neither have great FO % Maybe Paul in Ottawa But there are others out there as well -
[Discussion] Tanner Pearson Can We Really Keep him?
J.I.A.H.N replied to Rush17's topic in Canucks Talk
I have been asking this question alot lately, but with all the mass exodus lately, I am not sure we can just keep having players leave, either by trade or not re-upping them. IMO, I am seeing us keep him, if the price is right and re-aligning the lines............ Now this is based on this years play and a little speculation (easy math) Expansion protected players in Bold Hoglander (1 M )................Pettersson (7.0 M ).....................Podkolzin (1.0 M ) 2 passers + 1 shooter = $ 9.0 Million Pearson (3.5 M ) .................Horvat ( 5.5 M )..........................Boeser ( 6.0 M ) The old first line = $ 15.0 Million Roussel (3.0 M )....................Miller ( 5.25 M ).........................Motte ( 1.25 M ) Tough line to play against = $ 9.5 Million Virtanen ( 2.5 M )...................Beagle (3.0 M ).........................MacEwen (1.0 M ) It works short term Gaudette ( 1.0 M ) Total Forwards...........................41 Million Hughes ( 6.75 M )......................Tryamkin ( 2.25 M ) Edler ( 5.0 M ).............................Schmidt ( 6.0 M ) Juolevi ( 1.0 M )..........................Myers (6.0 M ) Rathbone (1.0 M ).......................Chatfield (1.0 M ) Total Dmen...................................29 Million Demko ( 3.5 M ) Holtby ( 4.3 M ) Total Goalies..................................7.8 Million Luongo...........................................3.0 Million Total Team cost...........................80.8 Million Ferland (LTIR).................................3.5 Million I see Myers (6.0 M ), Holtby (4.3 M ) Gaudette (1.0 M) as the 3 primary players exposed to Seattle for the Expansion draft, So, I see Gaudette either moved or used as incentive to take Myers or Holtby Eriksson Retires after his 1 Million bonus...............or in this universe, maybe he slips and falls or a buyout of 4 Million this year. Eriksson buyout cancels any savings of Myers or Holtby being picked It will be tight! So, in this Covid strapped world (OH, were you asking if we re-sign Pearson?)...............I think we sign Pearson again -
Look Mrs Green Virtanen was 25th in goals scored by all NHL RWer last year Virtanen was Tied for 33rd in Points by all NHL RWer last year Those are not bad numbers.......you just don't walk away from that kind of player I would suggest if you looked at all the Rwer that were drafted in his draft year.......I would imaging that they would be pretty good he is behind only Pasternak, Nylander, and Reinhart of players in his draft for scoring goals last year....not bad company I agree, Virtanen leaves you wanting, but that is because of his raw talent and potential, and the fact that he does not show that, but Your husband is a funny guy....and once he does not like someone, it is hard to get back in his good graces Jake is not the first

Yeah, I am in not in favor of any trading of young guys right now IMO, we need to work through this, as players I would be changing coaches and a GM, I am afraid And you know how much I like Benning, but its time I think Aqualini will wait though......not too long I hope I would like to beat everyone else...... Man this year is just crazy!

Yeah, I can live with that comment But "Baddy" boy, just dismisses me, because he does not even look at last years stat line, nor his defensive play Virtanen, is a disappointment in that he is a high draft pick that did not fully develop (as you say) But look at his numbers last year, and they are not bad.........If I remember right, he was top 30 RW in goals, top 60 RW in points never having a permanent line...basically bouncing all over the place IMO.........if they are going to trade Virtanen, then they need to get his point totals up, and that will happen with minutes and some play makers He is not the first coming of sliced bread...........but he is of NHL talent
-
You give your head a shake buddy Virtanen was 18 and 18 last year...........compare that against other RWers last year His problem is motivation....there are coaches that can draw that out Green does not have it, he is weak.............a nice guy His answer is not to play guys, which is the wrong thing to do Virtanen has decent defensive numbers and is responsible............sure check his heart But before you do......check Bo's heart If the guy ever hits someone, we will all be confused..........he is the Captain for christ sakes He is the one that is suppose to lead.............did you see any leading today? Or last game? You probably have not noticed..............maybe get your head out of your Orse And don't come to me with some stupid comments without some facts

Well, I am going to look at the big picture.....I have to! Boeser......................................He is a top U25 Sniper Pettersson................................Rated the 14th best player in the NHL Hughes.....................................Top point getting Dman in NHL Hoglander.................................Incredible hustle, incredible hands, Incredible IQ Podkolzin..................................Incredible motor, IQ and passer Demko......................................Solid Goalie Juolevi......................................Looks very solid for a rookie Dman Lind...........................................Improving year over year McEwen....................................He will be a solid 3/4 liner if given minutes Rathbone..................................Solid young Dman, who should be down in Utica getting big minutes DiPietro.....................................Solid Goalie who should be down in Utica getting solid minutes 2021 1st....................................He will be a good one if we keep playing the way we are Virtanen.....................................really needs a good coach...... Gaudette...................................Is playing all right under the circumstances That is 14 reasons to be excited about the future.................I have to believe! I have too! I want to see coaches who are up temple........coaches who will hold you accountable...........coaches that know system
-
Of Course we are playing this bad on purpose! You don't think we are that bad unless we try, right! I mean Loui got a head start, because he knew this was going to happen Jacob and Chris knew what was going to happen and jumped ship Too much pride to tank. I mean, come on, we don't have enough Calder candidates I can't believe you'd even ask that! Of course we are better than this.........we just don't give a $hit! Man, JT was right, you guys just don't have a clue!

Rewarding Alex Edler (Proposal)
J.I.A.H.N replied to J.I.A.H.N's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I don't see it like that at all Hammer What I want to see is this.............and I am not calling it tanking, as I see this as a down year for us...........Thankfully! Canucks 1st...........................5th OA........just saying Canucks 1st Edler.................24th OA......just a guess (via trade at TDL) Canucks 2nd.........................37th OA......as above Canucks 2nd Pearson...........58th OA......just guessing (Via trade at TDL) Canucks 3rd..........................69th OA Miller................Pettersson............Boeser Hoglander...........Horvat................Podkolzin UFA.....................Paul.................Gaudette Roussel...............Beagle................McEwen..............Motte Hughes...........Schmidt Edler...............Tryamkin Juolevi.............Chatfield Rathbone......... Demko....Holtby I see Myers being picked at the expansion draft and I see Schmidt being put with Hughes. I also think this year is a throw away in terms of how the Canucks management see it. I also believe Aqualini would just as soon see the Canucks not make the playoffs and keep costs down. I can also see Eriksson retire next year, after his bonus is paid. I also see next year as the make or break year for both Benning and Green, which IMO, will turn out better than expected.............. Now a couple of things............... 1. Everyone knows we have no 3rd line center at this point, so I see Benning using Virtanen to get one......maybe no Paul, but someone or a UFA 2. Motte could easily be on the 3rd line as a winger or a center 3. Lind may surprise people and force himself on Now the drafting and trades for are all pie in the sky, but it "could" happen or a portion there of. But the point is there are possibilities, and I am hopeful -

This attitude is why we have had so many players retire here with out receiving any asset back................and you wonder why we don't have a Stanley Cup Well, at least one of the reasons The Canucks have to start running this as a business -

No....Yes What I am saying is negotiate, in general.........for say 1 year then after a general agreement is in place then present him with the bigger picture with a wink wink, nod, nod This can be done one on one with Aqualini, so he knows it is legit
