Well, one thing for sure is that you know he will be disciplined , and stay on his own side
-
I think his club has 12 dmen, so I could see it
-
I agree.......with his club knowing he is leaving and the whole world needing money, I could see his club releasing him early with some incentive
-
I know if he does not play this year he will be exempt at the expansion draft...... so, maybe I worded it improperly, because he only signed a 2 year contract the 1st time around and had only burned off 2 years off his elc designation.......not sure what else to call it
-
Just another note.... I would structure Tryamkin's contract so that it has a solid 1st year bonus, but be totally the cheapest buy out structure.......and I would do it for 3 or 4 years Example.........AAV of 2.0 to 2.5 per on 4 years..........2.0 bonus 1st year So something like........ So his actual cost in years 2, 3, and 4 are actually less than his AAV....it make him very easy to move or buy out Sure there is risk.................

If I am right......and I could be wrong on this But one of the reasons not to bring Tryamkin in for the end of the season is because be would burn a year of his ELC there by potentially being exposed for the expansion draft, but after watching the glaring mistakes Myers has made this year I am not worrying about protecting him Protection list of Schmidt, Juolevi and Tryamkin, with Hughes exempt and Edler not under contract If Seattle takes him.....great! In the mean time, Tryamkin in this year, gives him time to adjust And I can not believe Tryamkin at 2.0* does not have more value than Myers at 6.0 Not really saying Tryamkins value is that....just picked a number

Jim Benning, An Excellent Evaluator of Talent, BUT NO GM!
J.I.A.H.N replied to Seeker1's topic in Canucks Talk
I think everybody has to slow down a little If we pick it up and start winning, it is soon enough to still get in the playoffs Personally, I seen some good signs today, and Montreal is a honest team, who plays hard A couple of crossbars/posts, Hoglander and Pettersson score....it was closer than the score indicated, IMO Conversely, this is a good season to loose, if that is what happens A high draft pick or 2, and a hole lot of cap coming off In a year where Pettersson, Hughes, Gaudette, Juolevi and Demko all need new contracts It is probably the best year for it to happen......so now watch them all take off and play well To me it is a win / win Now, as for Benning being a good GM.......well not outstanding But there are worse........But I think his drafting record is pretty good Which may be his saving grace and his down fall, as when Aqualini thinks he has enough young talent Benning's poor contract signings will look bigger not smaller I think the question is, does Aqualini want to go through a bunch of bad contract signings again? That is the risk............ If Benning can convince him that is in the past, well maybe he is safe, if not......bye bye I visit this question alot..............was signing Ferland a good risk? I do not think so, and neither does alot of GM's who passed on him If I was Aqualini......I ask that question, as I think it is relevant to the question of the day And I like JB -
Ok........The is this pretend league(KHL) and Bob (Tryamkin) plays in it But, there is no agreement with that league Only a letter of understanding that says we will not tamper with players from that league. But there is nothing that precludes me from contacting that league(KHL) or the club(Auto) that operates in that league, from my team (Canucks) contacting that team So, I see no reason that my team can not contact that team and buy that teams player, for early release Now, I am not saying we would But can anyone come up with a reason why we can not do this to get Tryamkin back early?

Actually provost here is what it really is............6 out of 24 are NHL size, the rest larger, 11 are the Finnish Hy-brid, and the other 7 are Olympic size
-
I tell ya now, if you want to develop Virtanen to his fullest Where he will be a top 10 scorer and hit and fight Trade him to Boston at 50% retained for a 3rd round pick in 2023

Well, if I could look into the future, then I would be able to give a more concrete opinion....... Because I can not, I can only guess, what is in store for us, which is the only thing that really matters. It matters more, how Schmidt, Holtby, Demko and cast play long term, than looking to the east and seeing Markstrom, Tanev and Leivo have a good start Honestly, if it is only a one year thing, than this is the year to make the change. If it turns out to be a disaster, well then, Benning has made a mistake. I will also say that as a Benning supporter, I am starting to see his accumulated mistakes as an issue, but with all the cap-space coming off next year, it may be that is when the team really comes together............again, a lot of "ifs", and I have no crystal ball, so I will have to wait and see. Benning on the other hand, is paid to know these things and make educated and professional decisions, so for me, This and next season are his make or break season's.......My prediction, is by next Christmas, if we are have not met our goal of being a contender I think Benning will be replaced. At no time, will Calgary's success be the issue. It is what we do that is important.

The Canucks putting "all the eggs" in one basket.

YOU ARE WRONG! I Believe it would be superior to some of the great Canuck Defensive tandems .....IF I COULD THINK OF ANOTHER GREAT TANDEM?????? But I like you idea! -
No offense SS But I don't buy the Extorsion draft argument Edler contract is up...................does not want to play anywhere else.........if he does not sign right away.......he is exempt by that fact Hughes is exempt Schmidt.....protect Myers........protect maybe? Juolevi.......................................Seattle is not taking him,not unless he starts playing lights out, and he is a RFA at the end of the year, so is exempt by that as well Tryamkin....protect
-
OK........ There are so many ways to get him back here this year 1. There are no rules saying you can not buy him out.........there is no agreement, so why can you not go for it? Aka....don't tell me what I can not do...tell me what I can do 2. Sign him and loan him to the SHL for the remaining part of the season (1 way contract) Loans do not go through wavers 3. Signing bonus in April, which tides him over The talk on the radio today was a 1 year show me contract at 2 years, but Aqualini baulked Really Franco! Go get some big boy panties..................your right D is suspect at best, and you had better fix it!

Exactly, my point. Further more here we have QH on the PP, one of the leagues most agile players, and we do not give him much of an option. I makes me think we are not giving him the most opportunities we could. Same thing goes for EP, who can play both LW, RW and plays the point regularly. So him rotating would open so many more chances. As for the PK......we are very passive on it compared to other PK's I see. Honestly, I really think out special teams are coached poorly. Even when our PP was good, I did not like the non-motion set up. The one thing about the Russian PP was they are not up against the boards, they are are actually off them a little. I guess, if we were actually a little more successful, we would not be whining, so I guess we will see. I find we are like minded on these issues Ray. Cheers!

What I really notice here, is the movement of ALL the offensive players....lots of movement

Every team has a slump, and I honestly don't think 3 games is that big As long as we work our way out of it, we will catch up when other teams have theirs We are a young team, with alot of new faces in key positions It will take time for new voices to emerge with in the group, but we have Horvat and Miller and I think Holtby and Schmidt will gain respect Adversity builds strength
