☆Discussion☆Kovy for Louie!
J.I.A.H.N replied to GhostsOf1994's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Oh no, I would send him down, don't get me wrong...but that still costs us 6 M per year He actually has to retire to save us money Something just came to me, as I type What if Benning has agreed to keep Eriksson up, and to not embarrass him then pay him his 4 million next summer, then he retires and that is the only way Eriksson will agree to retire It kind of handcuffs Benning, but I would do it I bet Benning would to -

[PGT] Colorado Avalanche at Vancouver Canucks | Nov. 16, 2019

My thoughts of the game..... #1.... Gaudette played well offensively #2.....Vancouver is a about 3 to 4 years behind Colorado in development #3.....I see Gaudette developing into a 2nd line center, if he gets wingers #4.....you are all going to love for this one.....I see Horvat as an elite 3 line center #5.....Colorado was missing Landeskog and Rantanen -

So what happens if we let him move back to Sweden and play in the SHL (on Loan) and pay him to scout, as a player/scout? I don't think that is any worse than some others have done -

Well, been thinking about this The way I see it right now is Benning keeps Eriksson on the big club for the next 2 1/2 seasons hoping Eriksson will retire Eriksson on the other hand, will sit and collect his money for 2 1/2 more seasons Nothing other than our wishing has changed, he still thinks he can play, and he can on a 4th line, and for 6 million a season Why should he retire? Kovalchuk, is (not) playing on a rebuilding team, but he has shown he can still score...….something Eriksson can not do So, worst case scenario......Kovy sits in the press box, which is no worse than what Eriksson is doing Worse case scenario, Kovy retires at the end of next year...one year before Eriksson Best case, he plays on one of the first 2 lines and scores 50/60 points. Something Eriksson isn't and can't do. Proposal Kovy for Eriksson and Jasek -
Maybe Alf, Maybe... But, you know, having coached a bit, it always bugged me, when coaches said that a kid had to do this or that a certain way. Just drained the creativity right out of the kid.. I don't like that cookie cutter thinking

I got an old pair of clogs

Yes, looks like 12 million worth off of LTIR...….that is a good Point

Just imagine if Bobby Hull would have slapped the puck into the corner with his curved stick or Jacques Plante's mask slid over his eyes or Gretzky got plastered to the wall on one of his first delays or Bobby Orr got caught on one of his ene to end rushes or Serge Savard fell down on one of his Savardian spin-o-rama's
-
Alf...….would you have had the same opinion if the puck went in?
-
You know Alf, that is probably the lease favorite choice for me......I think it shows the acceptance, that it is ok, to not try hard, and just pick up you check If we are going to do that....don't reward him ...sent him down You do that to all other players not playing well.....why him?

I am of the mind that the Canucks need to move on in general from their older veterans over the next few years And let the young leaders take over completely...…... To me, having Louie hanging around, is counter productive, as the players all know what is what, they know who is contributing, and they know who's spot he is taking. I honestly think that has a negative impact on the players, as they want to see the guys that deserve it, playing. I also see there being more than 1 option available to Benning......with Louie #1. Keep him in Vancouver, playing him occasionally #2. Sent him to Utica to ride the bus #3. Buy him out......severe relations with him completely #4. Have him retire, and have him scout #5. Loan him to the SHL and let him play out the rest of his playing days #6. Let him sit around here, and pay him his $4 Million signing bonus, then let him retire My preference is to waive Louie to Utica, to make is completely transparent, that we are moving on for him, and give him his options which down there in Utica, bouncing back and forth on a bus. I think it would be a lot easier for Louie to come to a conclusion down there, and it may be earlier, than July 1st. I honestly think it is way to easy for Louie to just sit back and collect his pay checks here I would far rather platoon, MacEwen, Bailey, Lind, Graovac, etc up and give them experience, throughout the season, so as to have call ups that would already have some time playing in the NHL, when it's playoff time. Also, when Roussel comes back, the fur will fly anyways

plus 10%...…..I am figuring around 3.25 X 2 years

I mistakenly thought this was the MacEwen and Graovac call up thread

Can some look at the bonuses and actual money owed and tell me what the numbers are now...….. I just did not understand what each was owed for the remaining part of their contracts When are the bonus's paid? -
Don't get me wrong FlickyourSedin……...Hughes is friggin good But if you consider that it may cost us another 1st to get rid of Eriksson (see Ibatch's post just above) the Balance then becomes even more exaggerated... So, it becomes Ty Smith, Zacha, NJ 2020-1st, Vancouver's 1st to get rid of Eriksson, and Simmons for Quinn Hughes and Gaudette That is 4-1st for Quinn And just for your info...Zacha is 6'3 210 lbs and has 8 points in 15 games this year...………...that is a 45 point year, and he is 22 years old...that is solid numbers
-
That is a good question AJ But, it is Tanev Almost all his injuries involve getting in the way of pucks Call it height, call it Technic, call it timing, call it %'s, call it bad luck..............Tanev seems to find it

On the block for New Jersey are Chris Kreider, Travis Hamonic, Melker Karlsson, and Johhny Boychuk As we are in rebuild, we are looking for prospects and picks Please contact if interested -
Here is my concern and comment to what you said. I agree that blocking shots is part of his effectiveness, but him being injured so much, is the opposite.... Which, is a result of him blocking so many shots........I doubt he will ever change, but as he gets older, the accumulation of injuries will only make it worse I can definitely see how his team-mates see him. Just as a side note....I once had a skate cut off me, after turning side ways, only to find out it was not broken......lol Such a baby! That cost me about $450.00 back 30 years ago........That was way more painful It cut back my beer intake for a couple of months!

I actually did not say he would, only that he could But he had 7 points in his first 14 games That's `2/3 type stats
-
LOL, don't hold back Coastal. LOL So, every point you made is true. And I can not argue with your POV But, I am not sure exactly how good Hughes will be, I mean, he will be good, but not Bobby Orr good. IMO, he is going to be more a PP guy than a all around 1st liner.....it is not that I don't like him. I do! But how good? Personally, I think NJ over pays a bit, but I could be wrong And "IF" Zacha did become 1st line Center and out played Pettersson or Bo, well that is the law of the jungle That is how it is done. Not to say that we could not find room for him......pretty tough problem to have! and Zacha is on a pretty good contract for the next couple of years..... As for the high 1st.....the top 10 is crazy strong this year, and there is a very big possibility we could find another star in the making there...…..maybe even another Quinn Hughes type As for moving Eriksson now, well, it will save a lot of problems, now, next year, and in the 3rd year Then there is Ty Smith who by all reports is a pretty good player himself...……. By the way, we could always trade the first for another young ready to play player at the draft...….. Maybe we trade our 2nd OV all to Chicago for Boqvist and Dach?...... I mean this all could happen, LOL
-
I get that Hammer But when does NJ's payment become enough? I have never been one that thinks stars are more important to the team, and that as much as Hughes will be a star NJ gives up alot 3 possible stars for 1 possible super star When does it make sense to do it?

I just thought that Tanev's play the other night was reckless, and pretty much illustrated why he is always injured.....I thought they were great examples Of course, his team-mates think that...I would think that too Notice they did not say whether it was such a good idea or not...……….sure he is courageous
