  1. I know injuries are a part of this, but good on Benning to get the guys up and give them a NHL pay check. I think this is part of it, and I applaud him for it. It builds team unity both here and down in Utica, and lets the guys down in Utica know that the big club is watching and cares. To me, the more guys that deserve to get a call up and do, builds on what Benning is trying to do...………. Love it!
  2. Yeah! Nice goal...…. Anyone who thinks they can do this should try...…. ……………...……..Try and not kill themselves
  3. Some of you are way to cocky This is a heavy team...…..they can do some damage Physically and on the score board...…..they are 1 point behind us Lets hope the guys play the game, like they are playing pro's Get my drift?
  4. It is really a symbiotic relationship between the forwards and Dmen The forwards are backchecking with speed and purpose, and supporting the Dmen The Dmen are retrieving the puck faster and moving it out a lot quicker It also works because the forwards are getting the puck from the Dmen in motion thereby putting a hell a lot of pressure on the opponent Not to mention the Goalies are giving the Dmen and Forwards a lot of reassurance That they can make a save when there is the odd screw up...…..it is all very symbiotic really Its been fun watching
  5. Yeah, I agree Just My opinion, but he needs to come in and be a #7 for the end of the year, if it doesn't ruin his waiver exemption, and then compete for a position next year...... Then resign Tanev and have Tanev/Stetcher/Tryamkin compete for the #4 and #6 next year
  6. I should know this, but is he waiver exempt for the Expansion Draft and Does it change, if he plays this year, and next, compared to if he just plays next?
  7. Phillip, I like your posts, and this is not an attack on you... But how do you know? How do you know that he doesn't come in and play just as well as Edler, Tanev, Benn and Stetcher?. I do not know he would, but how do you know he wouldn't? It is one of the problems I am having with peoples opinions here. We just simply do not know....IMO, He has tons of positive attributes....size, speed, maturity, shot. People really do not understand what happens to players in different circumstances. Players get put into roles, and in some cases, not the roles that suit them. It is funny, but has it occurred to anyone, that Tryamkin, may not be happy over there? He was young, in love, and could have had a very romantic idea, of what it would be like to play for his own home town. Once getting back there and found out it was not going to be quite as rosy as he thought, he may have realized that he gave up something he very much wanted, but true to his word, he kept his word. I am not saying this happened, but the point is we do not know. The Tryamkin, saga, is one of a lot of unanswered questions, on and off the ice. The absolute only way we find any of it out, is by him coming here, and playing. I could easily see Tryamkin signing another 2 or 3 year contract, which I believe will take him to UFA? (not sure of that), and I believe he will have a gentleman's agreement with Benning, that if he isn't going to be a top 4 (next year), that Benning trades him..... I see that as a win win, and allows Benning to see what he has...…...I do not believe Benning would pass on a potential asset, either way. The ability of Tryamkin being able to play both sides is invaluable to any team I hope he comes...……..I hope everyone will wait and gauge him then...………... PS...…...he is not Chara, he is Tryamkin Again, not really addressing your comment directly, but felt it would be best here????
  8. AJ, I get your point, but as I came on here to caution Hindu Stan, I will do the same thing to the other side as well. We honestly do not know how Tryamkin would do, and my guess will be that Benning will bring him over and slot him into the #7 for the remaining part of this year..."IF" he comes. Who, is to say, exactly how he does? He will be more mature, and seasoned. IMO, he will understand to a much greater extent, what is expected of him, and how tp prepare for the NHL. IMO, the question is, can Tryamkin work into Tanev's spot, and can Benn step in, if Tryamkin falters...…..that is if Tryamkin can unseed Tanev...... I just do not see that happening this year, so Tryamkin, IMO will get the #7 spot, until training camp, again...…."IF" he comes. It would not surprise me at this stage to see a sign and trade, if the return is good...………….Tampa, Wash or Ottawa IMO, but that is just "IF" Benning doesn't think he is a fit. Personally, I think he is a fit...…...time will tell And even as Tryamkins biggest fan, I think Hindu Stan is premature on this one...……..
  9. A lot has changed We have gotten faster...............….Hughes We have gotten heavier...………...Myers and Benn We have reduced Edlers and Tanevs roles and demands no team, can withstand injuries to their top 4, but aside from loosing 3 out of 4 we have moved players down the roster in many ways It is not an absolute that Edler play 1st line PP It is not an absolute that Tanev play first pairing or be on 1st PK. And as for Utica Dman...…..think of it this way Edler, Tanev and Bieska spent time there and did not come up as 1st or pairing Dmen, and I think they did ok I think if anything, we stand the risk next year of loosing some of that depth at the being of the season, when we make our first cuts As for Tryamkin, as his number 1 supporter, I hope he comes back and I hope he plays well and forces Benning's hand, but until he actually jumps (steps) over the pond to North America In saying all that...…..it is early and I caution everyone to expect bumps and yes injuries will cause ripples...…..Let's just give it some time.
  10. Just curious as to why you think our defense is a little thin? Top 4 for goals for Top 4 for goals against Almost all our Dmen are in the top 120 in scoring for Dmen 2 of our Dmen are in the top 30 Solid AHL depth, with prospects ready to come up One in Russia ready to come over So exactly what is it that makes you think we are thin?
  11. Sorry Guys I do not want Kessler anywhere near our team...….that ship has sailed He is the one that decided that he did not respect the jersey...………..or his team mates! I do not want our money touching him...…………….PERIOD!
  12. Something to consider Q. Hughes at 18 had 3 points at the world juniors Podkolkin at 17 had 3 points at the world juniors Totally agree, that they are different positions, but Podkolzin was 6 months from being 16 years old And Quinn is proving to be elite...... This and next years world will be fun to watch having a pony in the race...…..
  13. I would argue that the Russian Ice Hockey Federation thinks Podkolzin is pretty special, and have made many decisions based on what they think is best for him. I believe that when he plays in their junior leagues, he dominates, and when he plays in the VHL, he is a above average player. I also would say, in all his world tournaments, he has been a very dominate force, and when playing against Canada, has shown well. I think it is very foolish to look at Podkolzin's 2019-2020 season, having not played on one team with regular line-mates, nor having the chance to consistently play with one team and gauge him with anything but admiration. I personally believe he will be a force, maybe not in the traditional elite type way, but more of a Marchand light way, But, I will say this to my bold prediction or anyone else's……...let's just wait until he grows up and settles into one team. Then whether he is a weak or strong player, we will be able to gauge him better...……...if he turns out to be a Gallagher or Marchand light...……….I would be pretty stoked with that. I am looking forward to the U20's...…….that will be interesting
  14. I am pretty much confused with anyone that is not happy with all the players in Vancouver right now..... Everyone is contributing , the team is winning, goals are coming more easily and our goals against is way down. I am not sure what else you can ask of them...…. Life should be good in Caunucksville………..and with this many new players, it normally takes longer than this to gel Sorry, I just do not see any issues at the moment.
  15. Well, I am sure, it is a topic, and one that most support.....good point
  16. OK, This is where we sort of diverge As I think Jake has played decently this year Good enough to get some playing time on the 2nd line That is a positive sign The fact that he is not playing exactly to his perceived potential is arbitrary at best You see it as failure, I see it as a small advancement Would I like more....hell yes But as I said further up in the last post....I think he is slow developing and a tad immature as a hockey player Personally, I am not entirely sure, he is getting "Gifted" a spot I don't think Green would do that as for my other comments I am just saying, IMO, you have a little tunnel vision with your comments towards Jake You might be right, but IMO, I don't think you are seeing him any clearer than anyone else And as I said, Green has been the guy giving him the minutes In saying all that, Jake needs to make the best of all his oppertunities
  17. Look The Canucks could have picked a better player....they didn't They could have picked a worse player....they didn't Jake's progression has been slow....no doubt Is he a NHL player? ….Yes He is what he is...…...as you are who you are Acceptance is good for your sole and your heart...….. Just don't be so angry, about a young player that has not developed as you would want I don't get the rest????? PS...……..He has not turned out the way I want either...… But then again, I still see him improving a little each year I just think he is immature, as a hockey player His 15 goals last year wasn't bad
  18. I read the last 2 or 3 pages, what a silly conversation...….. I have played 50+ years of hockey coached house and rep, and I see no reason a guy has to fight especially after a great hit...….matter of fact, the best way to answer that is with another great hit...………. But the game has changed so much at the pro level The days of gooning are gone, and soon you will not see the guys dropping the gloves at all The game is evolving ……...I hate to say it! It is far less physical I think some of that came with the infusion of the Europeans and some of it came from society, which has complained about it. (Blame it on our mothers, who did not like seeing their kids come home with bloody noses and missing teeth......or having bullies see it on the TV But the fact is, some players, are just not wired that way..... IMO.....get over it. It is in fact why there was goons in the first place. Jake is not a goon, in any way, shape or form. He has never played that way......not ever The fact that he gets into the scrums, is good enough But every body is entitled to their own opinion. on that one.... Me, sure I would like to see Jake a little more Physical but I don't care if he actually fights....I could care less
  19. My thoughts of the game 1). I think this underlines that although Markstrom has made great strides, he is far from elite (as some state), and can still let soft ones in, when the quality of competition is higher (this is extremely important in playoff hockey) 2). I though Tanev sucked and cost us goals 3. The goal at the end of the 2nd was preventable, in the fact that the Canucks should have tightened up. IMO, it is what lost us the game 4. I thought the non-penalty calls were a factor 5. I think that skating against Tom Wilson and Hathaway, underlines, that although we have come along way, we need to find that guy that can play in the line up, but still be a deterrent….like a real big physical winger guy....they are hard to find! 6. I think Quinn needs to be given more of a green light (pardon the pun) to control the puck, skating it out, and using his instincts, when he does, he controls the game 7. I hope Quinn does not look at the -4, it could affect him...I hope not 8. I think that Quinn should be out on the shoot out as well (suggested by others) Like others I am disappointed in the final out come.
  20. I think you actually sound like you are from the Carnac clan on this one...…………..PS, I fixed your Carson spelling......If you are going to make a joke!!!!!!
  21. Well, I say, you have to figure out who Denko is...……. Which means between now and the TDL you need to play him, as much as Demko I can not think of a reason why not Better stats than Markstrom So play him and let him self-determine his future...….. Unless you are afraid of him proving himself
  22. So, Great Carnac If I am getting this right We are trading our 2014 36th OA Who has been 5years in the making and our future starter for the next 10 to 12 years for a first round pick, somewhere around Where????? Like 16th to 24th OA That may or may not develop into a NHL player? Why are we doing this?
