  1. Say it to his face! In person!
  2. Help! is the fifth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles and the soundtrack from their film Help! It was released on 6 August 1965. Produced by George Martin, it was the fifth UK album release by the band, and contains fourteen songs in its original British form. Seven of these, including the singles "Help!" and "Ticket to Ride", appeared in the film and took up the first side of the vinyl album. The second side contained seven other releases including the most-covered song ever writ See more on en.wikipedia.org · Text under CC-BY-SA license Genre: Folk rock, pop rock Recorded: 15 February – 17 June 1965 Producer: George Martin Released: 6 August 1965
  3. Now Hindostan I usually shake my head at the things you say But I have to say, I totally agree with you And I agree, we need to see how Demko is going to look Being he is only 23 and Markstrom is 30 this season People on here are way too short sighted Again, I agree with you, but lets take a look at Demko first Over at least 30 to 40 games worth IF and I say IF, Demko is similar in stats, we trade Marky for sure But certainly this is the year to make that evaluation If Marky's stats are way better than Demko's…... Well, then Benning has to do some serious thinking...... And wa la, we have another goalie controversy
  4. I like that line up NUX My concern is that you have to have a place for the young guys to work into meaning top 6 It also is too expensive, long term This is where I start arguing with myself As I know we are better as you suggested, but think otherwise when I think long term (in the case over 2 years) and I start panicking about Cap and development Just saying
  5. Baggin Lets go back to the original discussion Snepsts was a average hockey player on a bad team Bertuzzi was a league leader on a good team At least we should be able to agree on that Burtuzzi was voted as league elite and was voted the very best RW one year He received more votes than a lot of future HHOF fame players that year That should qualify him, to be in our ROH, easily And no, not at any point was Snepts one of the best 12 defenseman in the league Never, and not even close I have been watching and listening to the Canucks since their WHL days on a friggin crystal radio and know the Canucks pretty darn good I loved Snepsts's energy and persona On and off the ice IF you want to say that he was a all-star that is ok with me But there is a far difference between being voted best in the league and best on your team I will say this, the era's are different and the players are different and Harry's contribution to the Canucks should not be dismissed But Bertuzzi, was in a different class of player, talent wise and in a very small, select group of Canucks as I pointed out. Should Bert's jersey be retired? NO! But his contribution to the WCE was very important and helped make Naslund a 3X league allstar Which some people on here do not seem to understand the impact of being...…….league wide is much greater, than being John Scott which was closer to what Snepsts was You can disagree with me all you want, but facts are facts Now as to the BC Hockey hall of fame It is a political entity, and Bertuzzi's incident will slow his chance of going in there And Snepsts was a fan favorite for his dedication to the game, and his incredible passion and big smile
  6. Game thoughts Ferland played better...….more aggressive Schaller played well Pearson and Bo played well Virtanen was annoying their team - good job I did not think the Benn penalty was one These automatic icings are starting to be too automatic Marky's double pad stack had shades of McLean in it Phili was the best team we have seen - most talent - better ones to come! Leivo got to the scoring area's - that is a good thing - no hands - but good brain I thought Gaud had a decent game It seems the defense in general is getting the puck out better Nice to see Brock score Fire Newell Brown That is about it!
  7. LOL Oh, come on...…..Snepts played in an all-star game......just like MVP John Scott Neither were ever all-stars / elite or even real good...…..never....lol Nice try!
  8. UMMMMM! Read the response to Baggins, that is just above this post Man! ………….@#&*(#@^%.............People!
  9. Been here for a long long time......loved all those guys All worthy of ROH But Bert was good enough to be a league allstar In 2002 - 2003 Todd beat out Jerome Inginla, Jaromir Jagr, and Martin St. Louis, to name a few to be placed as the Best RWer in the NHL 1st All Star team Mogilny 1995 - 1996......1X 2nd allstar team Naslund 2001 - 2004.....3X 1st allstar team Bertuzzi 2002 -2003......1X 1st allstar team Luongo 2006 -2007...…..1X 2nd allstar team H. Sedin 2009 - 2011...…2X 1st allstar team D. Sedin 2009 - 2011.......2X (1)1st, (1) 2nd allsar team https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_All-Star_Team#2000s That is the sum of our allstar players Going to an allstar game is absolutely not the same, and it should be put it in absolute perspective. The above group is a very select group... Not even Bure made it when he was here in Vancouver So when we talk about all the other Canucks......lets be careful, that we are comparing apples to apples here......OK! Allstar game appearances, have been done in a multitude of ways..voted by the fans, voted by the players, and voted by the coaches, and in some cases assigned by the GM. Some years, there had to be 1 player from each team, so in some cases, players that were not that good actually were sent...…….. Please note in the years that Naslund won it, Bertuzzi was also very close to being voted on to the second allstar team, from what I can gather. League wide! People that argue, that Snepts and Bertuzzi were in any way equal, are just totally uninformed
  10. Never meant to suggest a jersey being retired......he doesn't deserve that But his did more than the guys I mentioned that are there now
  11. Yeah, I don't want to derail this thread with the Moore conversation...so I will pass on any more dialogue on it But here is my thoughts...…. Kurtenbach had less impact on the Canucks Harold Snepts, although I loved him as a player for his on ice persona, was not in any way, to have a stat value, so why is he on? I do not think Bert should have his number retired, but that is for a select few, otherwise, it would tarnish the whole concept Personally, the ROH, should be for those that impacted our team, and were solid enough to be allstars Snepts was never that...…..Bert was an allstar and was at the top of the league, during that time Gradin was never that, Kurtenbach was never that, Snepts was never that, etc...……...Stan Smyl was never that Bert was the top of the League, as was Naslund, as was Bure...…………. Hank and Danny were HHOF and ROH, jerseys retired etc...…..Bure is almost that level So, when considering the era that Bert played in...………..he was "League" good, not just "Team" good
  12. You know AJ...….I loved everything until you talked about Moore To this day, I will say that it was not Todd's punch that hurt Moore, but the gang that fell onto him and Bert afterwards It really Psses me Off, when people talk about it like Bert was the one that broke his neck Yes, Bert was wrong for doing it that way, but seriously, every person and their dog was wanting someone to act Bert was the poor guy that answer the bell for what Moore did, which was also by that days standard, bush So, if Bert was a vigilante, so were the guys on his back, who were not letting the referees deal with it.....to me it is exactly the same But, the up roar from the fans, that have never played hockey, and never took the 1000 elbows, or the knees, or the crosschecks created the mob frenzy around that whole thing...………..again what was the difference? And plz do not get into it. But as my early post stated...…….Bert bled for us, and was punished for something, that in the old days, they would have just put out a goon to do. Man, I am so sick of that stance! End of rant! Respectfully…..Sorry!
  13. He bled for us. His heart was on his sleeve, and he fought for us. I can not honestly think of a single player who, went to war for his team, and his captain like Tod did. The Steve Moore incident, was Todd acting on his loyalty. As much as no one liked the result, he could play on my team, any day. As for his play, his power, his hands, shot, etc...……….he is the bench mark for power forwards on the Canucks. Jake has had to live to our expectations, Todd set for us. Of course Todd should be in the ROH
  14. Thank you LL I hope I was being too forceful Can you imagine what it is like in the middle of the second or third rounds with multiple scouts, all putting imput in.... Those pre-draft meeting would be fun to listen to
  15. Because it creates organizational depth allowing the cream to float to top and gives management actual bargaining power when they posses excess top 6 players. Weisbrod referring to BPA was not a dumbed down facsimile of their truth. They've ranked the players and wouldn't pass up a guy they have 10-15 spots higher than they're picking just because they don't need another goalie (for example). Back on track - Jake. I've never agreed with or been sympathetic to the impatient members of our fan base. IMO Jake is doing fine and has been progressing steadily every season, I'm not worried at all. It's not like he's floating around, staying out of hard areas and proving himself to be some fancy princess who can't be relied upon to play a sound defensive game, have a take away, cause a turnover and be effective on both ends. I like Jake. He's come exactly as advertised on his scouting reports and so long as he continues to improve his all round game I look forward to seeing him grown into the heavy player he's destined to be. LL You know me by now...….You know, That I know they rank the players BUT They also have groups of players, within those rankings (Tiers) And I know this for fact Very often, outside of the top 20, several players will be ranked exactly the same Call it 22 a and 22 b I never said 10 or 15 spots higher I mean they could have 2 or 3 players ranked very close together, if not exactly the same as in 22a, 22b, and 23.....if one is a goalie, one is a RW, and the other is a positional need they will adjust that rank, or just pick the one they need It is not that refined, outside of the top 20 But yes, they still are ranked......but sometimes its splitting hairs
  16. CC Yes it is always BPA...…..but, when there are tiers of players outside of the top 12ish Then a GM will have more latitude to pick a positional player within that tier Weisbrod is dumbing it down so that it is understood by the masses There are many thigs that make up what is considered BPA, including Positional need Example would be when you get outside the top 20......every GM will have a different list how could that be, if these guys are looking at a consensus list Example...….the 20th to 45 pick were all considered for the most part to be in the same tier If you had 8 RW spots, why would you pick another, if you needed a LW? "IF" they were considered the same level (even the Canucks have a tiered list)
  17. Yes I think for those players that can play off wing that is fine but Hoglander is a small player, who only plays LW so, which we are short of organizationally So, I do not expect him to switch sides I am hoping he can just fill in the holes on LW I also don't think RW is needing anymore prospects until we see what's up with the group we have now IMO, Benning, if he has a 2020 1st will Draft either a RHD or a LWer which will depend on 2 things If Tryamkin comes back which he will , and if he does Then it is an automatic LW If there is one in the area of the Vancouver pick
  18. You know, today, I was at the rink with the guys After our game, we were all discussing the Canucks Miller, Hughes, Myers, were all mentioned Hughes, more than once Virtanen was talked about and there was about 10 to 12 guys in the dressing room and we all pretty much agreed, that Jake is quietly contributing to the over all play of the Canucks We all thought that would be a mistake to move him and felt, there is no shame in him being a 3rd liner We also thought that Jakes best years are still ahead of him His skating is near elite His defensive awareness is solid and his15 goals are mostly ignored by his distractors If he becomes a above average 3rd liner in his career and can play another 8 to 10 years with the Canucks no One should complain Now, if as a above average 3rd liner, he is pushed out by a better player then by all means, move him down, or move him out But that day has not come, and I think he is a positive contributor Give him a year and a half and let's discuss it then (Next years TDL) In saying all that....there are some interesting players coming up the pipeline who could put pressure on Jake...…... Podkolzin, Madden, McEwen, Lind, Malone, Lockwood, Jasek That is a pretty big list, that all will need a spot over the next 3 years Or sooner!
  19. Logan Couture and tough guy Zac Rinaldo, up for trade as well
  20. Well, I guess, my wheels fell of early...……. But It still, becomes some type of problem, which will need to be addressed Obviously, that takes the Cap concern out of the question, but still long term, what are Benning's moves? Take a guess now, and check back.....do we trade anyone? Damn! I truly thought Roussel was on LTIR...………...sorry guys! (Mud on my face!)
  21. Here is my thoughts on the subject...……. Personally, I think the 3 players I am looking at are Eriksson, Sutter, Tanev. Eriksson, is definitely the number 1 choice, and it would definitely be our number one choice to move. Unfortunately, his cap hit will not make it easy, and unfortunately if it is him, it will cost either or both, a asset and/or cap retention. The only chance we, have to get out of this, is if Benning and Green keep him on the roster and/or put him down to Utica immediately, and hope for him to retire. (Possible?). There is one other way, Eriksson leaves, and that is a loan to a European club, with his consent. (If we can rid ourselves of Eriksson, all our troubles disappear) Sutter and Tanev are different, in that they are both positive contributors, when healthy. Not only that, but Sutter has shown to be a very versatile player, and one that can fill in more than adequately if a top 6 or top 9 gets injured. But, his 4.3 million dollar contract, and his value make him a potential player, that has to be moved, especially if Tanev or Eriksson can not be moved. It is very problematic. He has looked good. Does he stay healthy? Should we move him sooner than later? Tanev is another enigma, as he is building chemistry with Quinn Hughes, and in the big picture, is a very useful player when heathy. IMO, because he is playing with Quinn, he will have to retrieve the puck much less, and will be handling it much less. This has to be good on his health. Looking at Tanev long term, causes some concern to me, because his contract is up at the end of this year, and with so many contracts coming up over the next couple of years, I am not sure he is viable long term. Does he stay healthy? It that a good time to move him? Much depends on whether we have a replacement. Tryamkin is the replacement for Tanev......maybe! If he comes, and if he is good enough. One way or another, Tryamkin is part of this puzzle, and sits there as a possible reason, why Benning signs him this year, instead of next year. If Tryamkin can jump in, we reduce salary, and get younger...….those are wins. All big "IF's" There is also one other possibility, which could be explored, but I am not to sure of, is if Benn can move over and give Quinn the proper support that Tanev gives. These are unanswered question, so early in the season, and it for sure is a wait and see, type of scenario. But with injuries starting to show up, and big BUFF, putting a stick into the spokes of Winnipeg, the questions are starting to rise their heads. Yes, it is a wait and see, but those are the main 3, I have come up with, as possible moves that solve our problems.
  22. Well, to get under the cap, we have had to drop to a 22 man roster, and we are just slightly under the cap. Now when Motte and Roussel come back, we will be at a 24 man roster, and approx. $4,000,000 over cap. Now, we do not have to make the decision today, but I would like to start the discussion today, and see how it changes, as we get closer to having to make those decisions. There is also one wild card, which is Tryamkin, who I believe will be over after his season ends. Personally, I sign him for next season and don't worry about the end of this one, but there is an argument that says other wise. IMO, Tryamkin sign for around 2.8 Million US, which would be around approx. 3X what he makes in Russia. So that is another viable in this season will present. To me, that is just under 7 Million over, for next year, we have to shed Now, this is the GM forum, and this involves long term planning, so from what you see now, after camp and 3 games, there will be some hard decisions to make in the up and coming months. Please note, I do not see us making a decision, tomorrow, but sooner or later (by Christmas), some tough decision will be made. So, the first order of business will be to shed the 4 Million needed to bring back Motte and Roussel...……...what would your plans be to day...……(It is ok, to change your mind) This is a long term planning exercise…..and Winter is coming!
  23. It strikes me, imagine how the players feel, if we are this happy......must be a big load off their minds They will know that next game could be totally different, so keep an even keel, but now they know what they are capable of...…. That is a great feeling...…...I imagine the boys had a few pops last night
