  1. I know this sounds stupid But...………... Maybe they should play Hughes as a forward on the #1 PP I think his IQ/skating would match up with EP
  2. You know Ghost I think that for a lot of guys a year of domination (not to say Lind is dominating) Is a good thing, especially if you are an offensive player I think you have to develop instincts at a faster and faster level Until it becomes automatic....basically, it becomes your new "normal" I think that takes time. Derailing it when you are not ready, is not a good thing. IMO This is his 2nd year, just let him percolate and develop I do not want him near, Baumgartner or Newell Brown
  3. You know what Pete I hope they just let him play down in Utica and taste some pro success It is early......nice start though
  4. The point was 6string...…..it "will" come All 3 are worthy of 15 goals each That would be pretty good depth scoring The first 2 lines will come
  5. For cry out loud Vintage...…….I am just getting the kids to sleep
  6. So..exciting news Utica won 4-3 tonight Cole Lind with 3 helpers Brisebois with a goal Nice job fellows
  7. So, I stayed away from PGT and have just arrived I have a few observations..... Feel sorry for Myers...….it cost us, and those things don't happen often It hurt Second thing...……...our PP is way too stationary I was watching the Tor/MTL game and the players are always moving the puck is always moving...….. #3...…...for only playing 10 minutes Jake had a good game......very noticeable #4...…...Tanev was having a rough time handling the puck #5...…...Bottom lines did their job To me, it was a game where Calgary capitalized on the 3 major mistake the Canucks made (2 really) That is about it...…..
  8. 3 - 2 Canucks Brock puts one over the goalies shoulder for the win, with 56 seconds left in the game Quinn breaks Giordano's ankle with another off speed slapper!
  9. Well, here is a first round pick that has shown solid numbers in the AHL, but can not hang with the Stars Now he is a RFA, but has asked for a trade......he is unsigned. Sound familiar? Honka for Goldobin
  10. I was going to say a Horvatcian Datsyuk……….an extremely strong and smart critter, tenacious in character. One would say Dogged
  11. Not a chance The Ghost and Mr. Chicken Starring none other than Don Knotts
  12. I do not want to give up on Jake But I do think there is a maturity issue in the hockey sense But I do not want to give up on him yet He is only just 23 (August birthday) He is young...he gets this year and next for me But time is running out on him We have Boeser and Podkolzin as the 2 RWers going forward That does not give Jake a lot of options Luckily, the NHL has changed and there is now a demand for 3 offensive lines, so that gives him an in at either LW or RW on the 3rd line. (unless he shows some vast IQ and Drive improvements asap) Now with the emergence of Madden/Hoglander/McEwen/Lind/Lockwood? This starts to become an issue for Jake So, all though I would not trade Jake at this moment "IF" the right trade came around, I would sure consider it But at this moment, it had better be way more than a second round pick IF the Canucks do not make the Playoffs this year, I see them taking a LWer in the 1st round, as we are short Offensive LWers going forward This again, shortens the leash on Jake, long term Time is running out!
  13. I would just like to apoligize to Hindustan Smyl for being such a smart ass I think you were premature in you evaluation and I responded by being sarcastic I was being funny at your expense.... My apologies!
  14. Good response..... I say Naïve not as a poke at you, but in the truest meaning...….not meant to be rude I do think that smaller guys at that level, have a hard time backing off players by being fiesty and although I do not know it has happened or not If Hoglanger is continually being taken in hard from behind, or hard some close calls he may feel enough is enough and start fighting back the risk of concussion is so real, and if you have the puck most shifts, as he does the chance goes up, that someone will drive him in the boards from behind maybe he had just had a close call, and said that is enough, or I am going to get killed! So he throws a elbow, not to take the guy out, but maybe to back him off then the guy leans forward and Hoglanders elbow is just a little too effective I am sure he did not want that result, as most guys that board from behind would say I honestly don't blame Hoglander, but he has to now pay the time It is an incredibly violent sport at that level, even if you do not want to hurt the guy you are fighting for space......small guys have to fight harder PS....no need to respond to this. I agree with in part, it ended up being, "over the top" I would probably think he is pretty bloody strong in his upper body. I used to box for a while and sparred with smaller guys sometimes.... I have been hit hard by a few......not exactly what sparring is about, but it happens Sometime the small guy that hit me was as shocked as I was, but it usually did not stop him from trying to do his best, it just caused me to be a little more careful. Which brings me to another boxing point when I got my punches to low, the other guy would send the same message I usually, kept my punches up after that.. Who knows if this guy that got tagged, had not sent Hoglander into the boards before I bet he is more carefull around Hoglander next time, or he will take his head off one or the other
  15. Junk Yard It was a dirty hit, and in the NHL, it would have been answered to, immediately, with a punchout, or at least a attempted one. The truth is though, that frontier justice is handed out all the time, maybe not as much as in the past, but a lot of players would have answered that. Maybe not in the SHL though?????? BUt, in saying that.small guys are leaned on, cross checked, pushed around, and intimidated every game, so they are either given a body guard (aka Ferland) or they fight for them selves (aka Marchand), that is the law of the jungle (elite Hockey....major junior and up) Now, as everyone has basically said, it is too bad the guy got hurt, but Hoglander is fighting for space, and he feels pressure, and does not know whether he will be smashed into the boards or the guy will grab or out muscle him......but if he is tired of that abuse, he fights back...…... He probably did not intend to hit the guy that bad, but it happened, and he will face his music. But to blame him for actually wanting to hurt the guy, I don't believe he did. I am sure he will say that at his hearing. BUT , no hockey man, will blame him for fighting to hold his space, and everyone will understand the shtt he takes being small. He will take his punishment, but I hope it does not affect the way he plays...….it could happen again, but if he gets driven into the boards head first, which is entirely possible. Then it won't happen a third time, because his elbows will be up for the rest of his career, and rightfully so. You look how being hit from behind has affected the entire NHL, with concussions...…..you look how Brock played tentatively the first game.....that is the result of careless checkers, that were not worried about an elbow.....or a cross check or a slash The game is more primitive than you think, and you are naïve to think it isn't. You are also naïve to think that guys don't get fed up with the BS, and protect themselves, if the league won't do it for them. PS...…..as per a comment a couple of pages ago...……..you must have been a point guard, because there are plenty of elbows thrown in the paint, and as there is cross checks in front of the net in hockey(you must have been a goalie)
  16. It is exactly how guys like Messier and Marchand get room...……….a little fear, and a little respect for the elbow
  17. I think we have up graded our defense a lot….I just think it will take some time Remember forwards support Dmen, and visa versa..... Just give it some time
  18. Just some thoughts about our new adds...….. Miller...……..solid game, very consistent, Myers....……solid game, huge shot Ferland…….still solid, will take some time to meld with Pettersson Benn...……...solid game Hughes...…..great zone exits. still a positive contributor, once he learns the speed of the game, he will be fine, he will have some bumps To me, they all played well, it will just take some time to meld
  19. Well, here are my take anyways from the game...……….. I thought Smith may have been one of the difference makers...….filled the net, and moved the puck well Draisaitl was the best player on the ice, and their defence really blocked the front of the net, as did their team because of that our Forwards had no room to move inside, and it is why our Dmen had some room to get their shots off I thought that on the McDavid goal, 2 things stuck out to me. #1. Sutter lack of urgency getting back into the play, and I wondered why Tanev was so far to the right with no one around him. I think he really misjudged McDavid's speed, as did Hughes, that had never seen it before...….I am not dumping on a rookie, for mistakes veterans also made, especially against the best player in the world. I think Pearson was a stand out for us tonight, I liked MIller's game, and the best parts of Edler's and Myers. I actually thought Marky deserved better, also. I was also a little confused by not seeing Pettersson's speed, but to be honest, he turns to quickly, he is leaving Boeser and Ferland behind. So he slows it down. Once again, when he got inside, their players were right on top of him. Still made some good plays though. I also think it going to take awhile to work the kinks out, to become a more cohesive line. I think it will come. I don't think our bottom 6 were any worse than their bottom 6, as some suggest, I just think I would like to see a little more drive/intensity. Virtanen and Eriksson were neither good or bad, but neither made statements...…. and I don't really know why I feel this way, but I think Green was out coached tonight......even though we out shot them. I was disappointed with Sutter on that 3rd goal...…. Just one game though! Pearson had 11 shots on goal......that means he put him self in position to succeed 11 times offensively...….I think that is very outstanding. Sure glad Draisaitl and McD did not have that many opportunities
  20. It doesn't matter, he is still the enemy Let Benn hit him, and he'll cry like a baby!
