[Proposal] Boeser to WSH, plus off season signings
J.I.A.H.N replied to BigTramFan's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
Yeah, I kind of agree with you...basically I was just doing a quick one and counting Schultz 4 m and Kemptny 2.5 m and thinking that is just about enough for Boeser Just about enough.............but yeah, point taken -

Actually Q, if you look at who they have to resign, they can actually do it.......if they do not re-sign Justin Schultz, who isn't exactly lighting it up for his 4 Million. If you actually compare our Schenn and Schultz, there is only 3 points difference and Schenn has a way better +-, so they could probably get away with a cheap replacement there So it "could" be doable from a cap aspect -
[Proposal] Boeser to WSH, plus off season signings

Ok, so if I am getting this right...............a 24 year old 1st line RW at 24 years of age has the value of Lapierre (2022-1st-22 OA, Iorio (2022-2nd-56 OA) and a cap dump? Let's just agree the cap dump are equal................Kempny for Hunt (minors) + Chaisson (league minimum) Oh, yeah, and we are going to give Washington at 50% retention of Boeser for the rest of the year. Let's do the same deal but add Washington's late first.........................don't you think? To WSH: Boeser (50% retained) + Hunt + Chiasson To VAN: Lapierre + Iorio + Washinton's 2022-1st and Kempny What do you think? Or at least Winnipeg's mid 2022 - 2nd -
Vegas lets consider that he was playing under Green and Bumgardner's defensive scheme. Now that BB is in, our offense is up and our defense is down............ So would you not think that might also apply to Rathbone?

We have to get those special teams working, before we can compete with the big boys................that is plain and simple. It is what is costing us the most, and what takes us down in the playoffs, if we don't. -

I think the JR and BB edition of the Canucks still have a couple glaring issues........ #1. Special teams.......In the playoff you have to shut the door on the PK and make every opportunity on the PP. I think we are a long way from that. IMO, it comes down to our Defensive Dmen on the PK...we really do not have that guy who can get the puck out with an consistency. then on the PP, we really don't have that play maker in the forward side of the puck. (That may be part of BB's complaint of not having any speed) #2. Which is part of #1, I think we really are missing that stud RHD. Our best RHD is Myers, and he either plays a great game or craps the bed. Myers would be fine if lower down the line up. I would also say that our young forwards, Hoglander and Podkolzin are not contributing enough yet. Another couple of years, and I think you see these two contribute more, lots of flash and dash, but not much end result. Not consistent enough. I would also say Dowling, Dickenson, and Chaisson, just don't cut it. IMO, they were very bad signings. ( I think when JR talks about no depth, he is referring to these 3) Finally, our Cap, really handcuffs us, and it really comes down to we "could " trade that 1st, but we do not have room to add anything of significance to the roster, aka a decent RHD. I think these are the problems JR is facing, and it is going to take 1 or 2 years to, make enough change to make a significant difference for the better. He needs time to clear those bottom contracts, and to move things around to get that RHD. I think there is more to it than that, and ultimately, it may be the reason JR does a mini blow up. -

Yeah, lets not even go there! Horvat's contribution is solid, I would just like him to play with a little more emotion, and not let that $hit go! Remember when we talked about team toughness, well it means you swarm the guy that does that......don't throw a punch, but push him around, with Miller pushing too! Team toughness is not about fighting............its about answering as a group! -

Myer's own goal changed the whole complexion of the game. San Jose was not even interested until then. -

Really glad Rathbone is ok. With him not moving, there were all sorts of injury possibilities But, usually, they would do a MRI or CAT scan, if they thought there was any brain injury So they would know if it was serious or not. His head never was targeted, but I thought he could have hit the glass pretty hard with it........... Some of the posters on here would have broken the glass with their heads........... So, I think Jack is ok! And glad of it!

@HighOnHockey Thank you for your last 2 posts, and you have answered all my questions. The reason I made this thread again, was I was getting to hyper-focused on Schneider, and I knew there had to be more to it. So, Thanks again........I hope people read you posts, and come back down to earth again, also.

I think this whole process for me, was to stop myself from hyper-focusing on Schneider. Looking to see, what else was out there, and to in fact do just what you did, in seeing Rathbones numbers, and where he sits against others. I seen the same lists. I wonder about Barron, as he was once ahead of Schneider, but has not progresses as quickly. He is known as a very good skater, who has decent skill and is projected to be a NHL Dman. I do know Foote is slow a foot, and am not interested. I like Grans from what I have read, and being a 2nd round pick, may be cheaper to acquire. Faber, I do not know as much about, but if comparing to Rathbone means anything, he should be nice to acquire also, I think once you get past there it becomes more difficult, as teams see those others as being a notch up and have ear marked them for their own team. Not to say they are untouchable, but once the teams see their prospects play up, and doing well, they are ear marked as hard to get. I would not even consider Clarke, as he is Blue Chip and untouchable until he proves otherwise. He would be given a long leash by his drafting club. I wonder if Matt Roy is available out of LA? I have heard good things about him and he does fit out Core and has a good cap hit. (although he is older) I sure love this time of year.......no rock unturned type of time.

My bet after watching the hit a whole bunch of times Broken ribs and maybe a concussion Maybe! Cheap shot!

I have been sort of pushing something like this....I am convinced that we need a 1st out of it, as well as Schneider, I would take Barron also........... I have come to terms we could get a 3rd line center other ways................. So.......yeah........Schneider, Barron and a 1st.............and more if we retain
