  1. So, basically, I know there is something wrong with the values, but I can not put my finger on it. Please feel free to tear it apart, and do your best to make it work. Please play along and give me your perspective. Miller at 50% to NY Rangers Kunin, Schnieder and NYRangers 2202-2nd to Vancouver Motte and NYRangers 1st to Nashville OR Miller at 50% to Colorado Kunin, Baron and Colorado 2023-2nd to Vancouver Jost and Colorado 2023-1st to Nashville Ok Trash away!
  2. I am back @JM_ and have been thinking about this awhile.......... So, we are more than one good player away from challenging, and as you say, at this point Petey is not ready for #1 center duties. With all that being said, trading Miller for 2nd or 3rd year prospects and picks, may shift that ahead of schedule a few years. Not to derail this thread, but here are a couple of scenario's that have been bandied about...................... #1. Trade Miller for........................ a) NYR....... Schneider, Chytil and a 1st b) Col..........Baron, Jost and a 1st c) CBJ.........Chicago's 1st and Corson Ceulemans d) Pitts.........Kapanen, 1st and Poulin e) Or one of a half dozen other clubs that may want Miller Each of these trades have young players who may join the club immediately, and will help long term. (No @mll you do not have to comment on the trade suggestions) But the point is, in each case, it along with our own first strengthens us long term (2-7 years). This does not preclude us from trading Boeser for a RHD, who may be in the 24 to 26 year age in a real hockey trade. Further more, when I look at the list of next years UFA's.one name stands out to me.......... Max Domi, and is 26 year old and who is Horvats best friend and should be gotten in the 6 - 6.5 million range, and plays LW and Center.......................... In all, what I am really trying to say, is, that loosing players is a fact of life in the NHL, and solid moves, can make your team better................ What ever they may be...................... And the very last line here is the most important one..........we simply do not know what moves JR will do............ and history proves that anything is possible. Good /Bad/ or Ugly
  3. Hey, @JM_, I got to go play hockey, but you have opened up a hornets nest. Great topic! I will get back to this thread later today. Well done!
  4. I agree with your question about Schneider....what if they don't want to deal him?.........well then you go after Baron in Colorado. there has to be a deal out there somewhere Jimmy. As for Miller vs Kesler, I don't see them as comparables. Mostly because Kesler had no quit............that can not be said of Miller. I mean, if given a choice, which one would you take? Kesler or Miller.........me, Kesler 7 days a week. Boeser is definitely an option.
  5. Good Morning @JM_ I am really having problems with what we should really do with Miller, but in the end, his personality just rubs me the wrong way. He is fantastic when everything is going his way, but pouts and makes mistakes when they do not. Last night against Nashville, again he glides to the bench as last man out of the offensive zone on a back check. Just seeing it once, says it all. I mean, what does he think a star gets, but hard minutes? He gets checkers on him, and it it does not go his way, he sags. IMO, that is not what you want out of a star veteran player. Yes, the stats look good, but does he send the right message to our young players? It is for all the above, and the fact that our Cap virus Miller distribution, is out of wack, and I keep on asking myself what is more important, Miller virus a #2 young RHD, and I keep coming up with we need the RHD much more. IMO, we are just incomplete and something has to give. Again, IMO, Miller is what gives. I have been watching NY Ranger games and what I see out of Schneider is a guy that steps in and gets 20 minutes a night off the get go, so, I want him, before is value gets so ridiculous he is out of our reach. I think you have to wonder why NY Rangers are playing him so much, if he is not the real deal? Well, as he is a rookie, it is pretty incredible he is playing that much. 2o minutes a night says he is not being sheltered. even It is for all that, IMO, we go hard and use Miller to get Schneider, a young large, fast skating, dependable, RHD defensive Dman. I trade Miller, with some Cap retention to acquire Schneider + (plus). Schnieder on a ELC for 3 years, allows for other needs. If JR was to trade Miller for Schneider and a 1st, which sounds like an over payment, I would trust JR on this move. The next thing I would do is send Hamonic packing for non performance or breach of contract, this Covid thing could go on for years, and we are throwing 3 Million away, for him to stay home with his kids. Sorry, but it is time to start playing hard ball. If not that, then an agreement for mutual voiding of the contract. It is OK to be a nice guy, but this Hamonic issue is becoming ridiculous. So, Hamonic and Miller is 8 Million this year, which is plenty of Cap to work with. As much as I like Miller's offense, he gets too much in trade to ignore. PS, Pearson is very unsung, IMO I would also say, If JR is going to pull the trigger, he should do it now, and I would not be surprised to see it done over this allstar break. So get ready!
  6. Miller 50% retained does fit the bill.....at 2.6 Million........absolutely no argument if that happens
  7. @mll......sometimes, ya bug me! It is not that I do not appreciate your POV, it's the god damn way ya say it! LOL Hey, look at this way............these are the types of trades we could expect and the returns............ Someone one will be trading! Players will be moved, and teams that people do not expect to make trades will. Also, don't put all your stock into the media so much, because some just make their $hit up. Hey, thanks for dropping bye!
  8. You seriously put those trades up for fun? Probably as good as mine!
  9. Yes and Miller > Garland And if we are moving Miller, why keep Garland anyways?
  10. PS................if they don't fit the cap, well then we could consider taking a cap Dump (Maybe), but it will cost more! SHOW ME THE MONEY! (Tell me what the plus is!)
  11. Garland to Colorado for Barrons (RHD) and 2022 1st I love Garland as much as the next person, and he has plenty of fight, but as much I do, his cap allows us to keep Miller, and re-sign Boeser, as well as grabbing Barrons and a late 1st. Colorado does this, as Garland is a none stop work horse, that can produce even strength points. Sorry, hate to see him go, but it is the easiest move to keep Miller. Now this is all predicated on Miller saying he wants to stay to JR. If not, Miller goes too! Motte to LA for Helge Grans (RHD 6'3" 206 lbs drafted 2020 - 35 OA) Again, I love Motte, but with him being a UFA at the end of the season, and Lockwood looking like he can play up here, I say move him now. I am tired of guys walking away for nothing, and his ask will be a minimum of what Dickenson is getting and probably a Million more. Sell now and recoup some asset. He will be loved in LA. Grans is a high 2nd round pick, who has been playing pretty good in the AHL and LA has an abundance of maturing RHD. Let's get him before he costs too much. Halak to Edmonton for 2022 2nd and 2022 5th I am not sold on the fact that Halak has passed on Edmonton, and in fact, I believe he would look at it as a possible place to end his career with. Hey, If we are moving players, lets move Halak and see if Spencer Martin can give us more of the same as he did when he came for a visit! I also think that if Halak considers that the Canucks are taking a possible step back, he might be just as happy to be moved late in his career. Anyways.....that is my thoughts, and idea's. Wasn't it refreshing to to see another Miller trade! Cheers!
  12. Call Edmonton and ask them what they think of having no goalie.
  13. I might have been a little hard on you..........sorry! But the point is, we have had a whole bunch of guys just coming off of protocol and still we are getting points..... we killed winterpeg, but that is only half the point we have taken points in all of our last 5 and since BB has been here we are doing pretty good even in our losses Do we have holes, are we up and down, sure But it is a crazy season and everybody else is too So to that point you are right and maybe a little wrong If your expectations are larger than reality.......... Lets just wait and see how JR does Without too much BS and call some of the guys that are really throwing it This team is 2 /3 years away, at best......but they are fighting hard I respect that! Their defense tonight in our end was pretty good! last thought......Quinn Hughes looks beat up! And tired.
  14. Total BS! Where were you saying this after the Winnipeg game? It is a team in transition..........it is a fringe Playoff team at best Live with those realities, and let JR do his job............ And stop jumping on and off the bandwagon so much......geesh!
  15. I am not sure what all the crap is for/ We got shut down by the other team, and still took a point In the old days that is a 0-0 tie I also have to say that our team, really took the majority of their prime chances away and our goalie, shut the door on the other ones...like he should have........ Boring game, but it could have been a hell of alit worse!
  16. Well, this team is currently 4 or 5 spots out of a playoff spot To me, it is really a question of when JR thinks we are a top 10 playoff team, and if he thinks we will do that in the next 3 years, maybe less....... We are definitely playing at a better pace, than our current position, that is no question But does JR see this teams roster good enough to take the next step, in that time? I guess we could ask Alf, but really, once he is into the catnip, well he is pretty much useless.............but seriously, does JR see us there? I don't see it, but JR isn't asking me! What is JR's evaluation of our team? That is really our only clue..............
  17. If his play continues like this and the points keep on racking up, his demands will be in the 8.5 million range. So even if we trade a lesser, we still will not be able to pay Boeser, Petey, and Bo long term. Not without either clearing OEL or Myers, which is not going to come free. I am not saying what the answer is, just that something will have to give, which means, Boeser for prospects and picks, because we will not be able to pay anyone else anything worth, what we need to to get that RHD we need. So, who goes? Boeser, Myers, or OEL? Just asking! So, that brings me to my old math quiz................. Is Miller greater than Boeser, and the assets gained by trading Miller? I do not know........Again, just asking!
  18. I agree that it is underhanded, I agree that it is ignorant But what if he sees the errors of his ways and changes Do we not show mercy? Do we not fore give in this day and age?
  19. True, and a valid point, but some of this is just pure speculation and rumour................ But, again, we are not trying to produce a country club....but a hockey team............... That is where our concern should start and end.............. We should not be the jury, especially with the scant information we work with around here. Just my 2 cents worth!
  20. Jeesh, Alf, what if he is found innocent and no other girls come forward? Let's just see how it plays out!
