  1. I don't understand why everyone is upset! Anyone can play pro hockey! Or at least, it sounds like it!
  2. Thanks for the clarification buddy! I knew I was close, but needed someone that actually knew the whole clause. I was too lazy to look up the QO, but knew it was around there............ I knew someone would come and clean up my mess! Cheers!
  3. Thanks @-DLC-, I would have probably missed this one otherwise. This is an incredible humanitarian effort by Mark Cubban, and will change alot of people lives. Imagine a man, doing what the government refuses to do............... IMO, this is one of the greatest acts in US history, and should be long remembered! And as old drugs become un-protected, more will come on line, I am sure!
  4. I think you have to take some time and really get to understand what a QO is............... A QO is based on the Minimum 1 year contract a player can get. What does to the team, is force the team to make a multiple year offer, which will lower the cap hit......... So, in Boeser's case..................his QO for 1 year is 8.00 million dollars, and that is also his Cap hit but If Boeser was to sign a longer term contract, it could look something like this....................on a 5 year contract for example (easy math) 1st year......8.00 Million 2nd year.....6.00 Million 3rd year......6.00 Million 4th year......6.00 Million 5th year......7.00 Million (ends up with him as a UFA at the end), which is why teams want to sign good players to 8 year contracts if possible. His cap hit is then 33 Million over 5 years or an average cap hit of 6.6 Million.........you see how that works? I do not think Brock thinks he is at Petey's or Quinn's level of play or pay, and I think that will bear out, next year. See how it works? And I am not even sure on a multi-year deal, that the QO has to even be there.......so it could be another number in the first year......... Maybe @mll could clarify that.
  5. What strikes me on some of the earlier goals was Petey's strength. One goal has him pushing off another player and keeping his feet. Todays Petey, has a history of falling down. I am of the belief, he is still recovering physically from his injury and illness, in his over all strength. Is it hard to believe that he has some lasting effects from his bout with covid? He is very lighted framed, and loosing 5 pounds of muscle, can take a long time to build back up. I have no doubt that he focus's on strength this summer and comes back 10 pounds heavier. I believe this will be noticeable. My favorite play of Petey's is in his first year, when he faked the player with a shot, pulled it back and put the puck past him, causing the guy to fall on his Arse. It is one of my all time favorite plays of all time, and showed us what Petey is capable of. talent does not just disappear.
  6. How tough can a guy be who wears a rabbit suit? I mean, really!
  7. Or conversely, they could not get the puck back or out! I would still give them a shout, though
  8. I am just wondering if you say that if the puck goes in during the shoot out?
  9. just reading some of the negative Nellies posts! How the hell can anyone find fault with this game.......... The boys played their hearts out...........very out manned against a top 2 team Come on CDC...this was a win!
  10. Do you think Draisaitl looks at the goalie and is pi$$ed! Spencer Martin who?
  11. Not a bad idea! The only risk is that it could be worse next year.....but I like the idea No, they should pay up front. They pay for the retention, with asset.....he is theirs personally, I like 3rd year prospects or young roster player, but in either case, teams need a continual source of ELC's, or they get forced into moving assets as their team grows It is about return.......if 1 year of retention improves your return and if that return is worth it, then go for it, if not don't I would only take it as a cap dump, which improves your return i think the NHL has tried to stop somethings that used to happen, but one never knows! Good post!
  12. Not a proposal per say, but I really want to push the narrative for sure................. I started to print that we have never to my knowledge, sold high of one of star players, nor have we ever intentionally tried to control our own destiny............... What I mean by this is we have never knowingly tried to "Tank" that I am aware of? Now, since I started thinking about both of these premises, I realized that yes, we had in fact, sold high, with great success................. Cory Schneider for New Jersey's 9th over all..............well how did that work out for us? I ask, tongue and cheek. Yes, it was a incredible success! Horvat has been a top end staple ever since! Now, the second part of this is what happens if we were to sell high on a player of Millers stature, within the Canuck frame work................... Well, IMHO, we sag, but obviously not to the bottom, but maybe far enough to pick another difference maker................ Now, as most team's competing for the Stanley Cup will not trade top player for top player, it becomes very obvious that a trade of this stature is a futures trade for the Canucks. Schneider , and 2022 1st, plus, or Barron, and a 2023 1st, plus ..............both fit the bill, to a large degree...............and what is the plus? Is there other RHD prospects out there that fill the requirement? And if so, who are they? Anyways, the other fringe benefit is that we either fall somewhat, short term, or plateau for the remainder of the year, but in any case, we benefit from the trade in several ways. It is not simply "Tank" for a better prospect, but rather a multiple pronged move that benefits us, long term, and is more inline with our young core. The question, is, like so many proposals, is, do we trade Miller for the "RIGHT" assets? Can you accept this as a good management decision? Please vote, and comment........ Thanks!
  13. Here is a couple more................. Winterpeg............................Miller 50% retained for Stanley LHD, 2022-1st and Chaz Lucius (C) Colorado..............................Miller 50% retained for Jost(C), Baron (RHD), Stienburg (C) and a 2023 -1st
  14. Well Miller.......we will pass on Horvat is more a Bergeron type Center, not a big scorer, but holds his own, but does so many other things well. Aka F/0's IMO, if you put him in with Half the top 32 , he comes out on top, much like what he did for so many years pre Miller and Pettersson Pettersson was ranked as the 5th best player under 25, as late as this past summer. Yes, there is no argument that he was really struggling, but he seems to be slowly coming out of his funk......the stats I quoted earlier, include this funk, which IMO had to do with injury, illness, weakness from illness, lack of confidence caused by a coach that did not kn ow what to do..........not in the coaches DNA BB, has taken alot of pressure off of Pettey, just by the coaches demeanor...............IMO, he is rounding into form, and just in time! It is all subjective, and I could be just as wrong as right. But I choose to see it half full.
  15. @VegasCanuck also only 2 % or less the first 2 years I think his injury and recovery also took a toll on his F/O percentage
  16. I do understand your position and agree it is not good But McKinnon is only 4 percentage points better in the F/O circle Is he going to be moved to winger Barzal is only 3.4% better But your point is he has a lot of improving to do....which I agree with
  17. JT Miller over the 3 years in Vancouver, is 9th in scoring for centers................in the whole league Now yes, he has not played all the time at center, but his scoring does not dip when playing center So, I am a little confused with your comment Bo Horvat is 28th in scoring in the last 3 years, and better than 20 of the 27 ahead of him in faceoffs Again, I am a little confused? Pettersson is 33rd in scoring over the same time, including his injury time
  18. Well, I will say this, we have a decent RW group, but our strongest position right now is Center, with Miller, Horvat and Pettersson. They would all be #1 centers on 1/2 the teams in the NHL, and certainly 2nd line centers on all the rest. That is for sure the strongest position on the team. Now the question I ask is, if we can move a center for a RHD of equal or Potential equal value, are we not over all better off? I say yes! Which is the entire point of moving Miller. Because in a perfect world, I keep all and draft a guaranteed RHD prospect who is a #1/#2, and 6'5" and 220 lbs, but we know there are not any guarantees, and no prospects like that in the area of our first. The closest is to trade for a prospect that is close to playing.............I could give you a long list of wishfull thinking players, but that is not going to happen, which brings us exactly to where we are now..............by the way.......... Speaking of RW depth.........read this Boeser......................first line RWer Hoglander.................3rd line RWer Podkolzin..................1/2/3 line RWer, to be announced at a later date! Lockwood.................4th line RWer Garland needed on the LW side Motte traded.............see Lockwood that is my 5 cents worth!
  19. Here is the thing Vegas I do not see our window as now More so in 2 years So, with that being said Do you risk not being able to fill the holes. aka a #2 RHD? IMO, if you fill the RHD hole, you draft a young center, who develops and is on ELC when your core is in their prime (aka 2 years) Tank.......no Controlled decent.......ok
  20. I agree FM, lets not address any cap problems that will manifest themselves next year and beyond. Let's just re-hire Benning and let them walk away for nothing, or for less than their real value.......... No seriously, it could happen that way, I have no idea how JR will play this, but what did we learn on our last road trip Answer......as good as some, not as good as Tampa.................. Where are our holes, and do we have the cap and assets to fix them as we stand...............the answer is No we do not Which leads me to why we have to do it Now we sit and watch what JR does.................you could be right????????
