  1. Once again we lose another player for nothing. Jim's gotta realize that he needs to get some assets for players (Tanev, Markstrom, and now Edler). I know clauses got in the way for Eddy, but those 3 alone should give us some more picks in the cupboard. Instead we got nothing. It's painful watching other teams come to these realizations and make the trades for the picks and continue to stay strong, whereas the Canucks consistently lose players for nothing. Has Jim ever received a 2nd round pick in a trade in his entire tenure?
  2. This may be a rant. But Canucks have had a long history of loyalty, which is great for the face of the organization but not for the future of an organization. Management needs to come to terms with where they are at. It continues to happen that we keep sticking to guys that are clearly out of their prime when we are no longer a competitive team. Realistically, Edler should've been traded a couple years ago so we could potentially have an impact player going into the 2021-22 season. A similar thing happened with the Sedin's, where we could've moved them to get an incredible haul. Teams that succeed are teams that come to reality and solid players when they realize they don't have a shot of winning. If Edler is extended, great. But don't give him a NMC. We need to have the chance to trade him for something that will actually help us at some point.
  3. 1:52 is maybe the most cringy thing an analyst has said on a broadcast
  4. Best player available is always the best option. When you select need over BPA, it usually hurts. Montreal selecting a need for C in Kok, and Arizona selecting and need for C in Hayton allowed us to land Hughes. When we picked need vs BPA, we got Virtanen over Ehlers/Nylander and Juolevi over Tkachuk. I believe in the 1st round (even 2) always take the BPA. Then after that, select off need in hopes of a steal.
  5. I mean, it sucks what TBL did, but I don't really think there's any way you can change it. Unless there's something like, "a player cannot play in the Playoffs unless he has played x amount of games". But that wouldn't really change how TBL would circumvent the cap, they would've just not signed their RFA's until those games by Kucherov were done. We all hate it, but we all love the benefits of LTIR. We wouldn't be able to sign Hughes and Petey (hopefully) in the future without using the LTIR of Ferland and Beagle (6M). Potentially, both those players could come back for playoffs and we would be 6M over the cap, but no one would bat an eye.
  6. I honestly don't know what's going to happen in the NHL anymore.... Islanders/Canadiens final.
  7. I think you need to take a couple days off from making proposals
  8. This guy keeps putting salt on the wound. Should've extended him and traded Pearson. What a clutch player
  9. Does it rub anyone else the wrong way that we're going to likely lose a quality prospect in Gadjovich just because JB told Pearson he would protect him? Doubtful we would've lost Pearson in the first place
  10. Leafs haven't won a playoff series since 2004. In 2004, Joe Sakic was the 3rd leading scorer in the league. Since that time he has: retired, took time off, became the GM of the worst team in the league, rebuild that team, and made that team the cup favourite... Yikes
  11. That meeting makes him sound like an Evander Kane type player. We got all the hassle of a Kane-like player... but not the production
  12. I remember he almost hit me in the parking lot at the Kelowna mall while I was walking across the cross walk. Flew through the crosswalk at 30+. Then went into Best Buy and was the only one not wearing a mask. Great guy!
  13. I don't see us affording him, but would be a great guy to have on Bo's wing with Hoglander.
  14. I stopped reading at the wrong use of your
  15. Adam Larsson is a free agent this offseason and, although he's not a massive name, he could be a great fit for the lineup. Primarily, next to Hughes. He's not a massive point producer (10 points this season), but could be that big RHD that is needed beside Hughes (6'3, 208lbs). Much like Tanev, he's a massive shot blocker (2nd in the league this year with 128), unlike Tanev, he gets a lot of hits (5th in the league this year with 166). He also could come relatively cheap given that he doesn't produce too many points. I'm guessing Tanev-like money. Would you sign Larsson to 4.5M for the next 4-5 years until he is 32/33 years old?
  16. I look forward to the Oilers signing a different mediocre goalie (Dubnyk!?) and some washed up NHLers, and failing all over again next year!
  17. Crazy... We play the kids and they outperform all the vets in our lineup. Yet we still enjoy keeping the vets around. I hope giving kids these looks make GMJB realize that we can start trading these vets for picks...
  18. If Louis Eriksson's money situation were a movie:
  19. hmmm sounds like a player Jim wouldn't mind letting go of... who's someone useless we could extend instead?
  20. Is Bowey quarantined? I say replace him with Chatfield asap. Chatfield working for the leafs I think...
