  1. draft lottey will be held on tuesday the 15th canucks are going in holding the 6th overall pick
  2. nice carolina wins in shootout VAN guaranteed 6th pick
  3. carolina is garbage cant believe that they just happened
  4. tanknation: carolina wins today, nucks now hold the 6th overall pick in the 2014 draft and will retain it if they lose their last two games against edmonton and calgary
  5. looks like a good day for tanknation carolina up 2-0 on detroit and hopefully winnipeg wins against calgary to give us a bigger cushion in the standings. 6th pick here we come
  6. thanks for clearing that up hoping winnipeg beats them tonight for a bit of a cushion then
  7. so i just want some clarification is there any way calgary can pass us in the standings? some people are saying yes some are saying no just want to be sure (i know they tie us in points if we lose every game and they win every game from now on)
  8. its not calgary could still tie us and they have the tie breaker correct me if im wrong but i believe their ROW is better
  9. booth just finds new ways to screw the fanbase, probably just lost us the 5th pick
  10. 5th pick - possible but very unlikely: winnipeg must beat boston and lose to calgary in their last two games, carolina must win one of its last 3 games agaisnt 2 very good teams and the third being washington, and vancouver must lose their last 3 against 2 good teams and calgary being the third 6th pick - possible, hopefully a team like calagry goes off the board. with burkes truckulent fetish i could see him going for one of the power forewards (ritchie, viratanen) 7th - 10th pick - most likley the range well be picking: the guy at the top of my list for this position would be ehlers. im tired of going with the "safe" pick. use a top ten pick select a guy whose a bit of a risk but has 1st line potential. I really think this guy is not just a product of drouin
  11. i know theres still hope for the 5th and 6th pick but reaistically i see us at 7 or 8
  12. NHL draft lotto on April 15 just over a week away
  13. if were picking 6-10 then these are my top 3 choices: NIck Ritchie Brandon Perlini Jake Viratanen
  14. sam reinhart will go 1 or 2 doubt will get the chance to draft him it takes a lot to move up in the draft and this is a weak draft to boot take the best player available at whatever position we are in
  15. brain lawton via his twitter account said that there may be a three way deal in the works for kesler going to chicago.
  16. to be honest i dont like penguins rumours at all. brandon sutter is not as attractive as he was a few years ago. hes not as young as you would hope for. his potential is very limited at this point not that interested in simon depres. cant crack pens line-up regularly. i think he has limited upside 1st round pick is gonna be extremely low and in a weak draft year. nough said. beau bennet is an interesting asset but im not sure about him. put up decent numbers in his stints. but he was playing with malkin derek pouliot is a good prospect and probably the only piece i really like. honestly if some combination of these assets is all they can get for kesler, then the best option is to keep him and try again at the draft
  17. dont get me wrong. getting johansen is at the top of my wish list for a kes trade. i think your deal is fair as well. but to give up a big 21 year old center who is on pace for 36 goals this season and has franchise potential written all over him. i think it all comes down to how badly they want to make the playoffs now. and you may be right the blue jackets may feel like they owe it to their fans to make the playoffs as soon as possible. thats the only way this deal goes down. i really hope the canucks makes this work though, i would be thrilled to get ryan johansen
  18. dont mind this deal; but i still have a hard time thinking columbus gives up ryan johansen. not to mention boone jenner as well. i give you credit though, it would take a creative deal like this to get johansen out of columbus
  19. would like to hear if this helped clear up some things about the kesler situation to people
  20. a couple really important things to note: 1. if this trade goes down you can throw the whole re-tool idea out the window. if Kesler goes it should become full on re-build. you are not going to get a center back in a trade who is as good as Kesler. without Kesler the Canucks are an average team at best. this leads into my second point 2. the Canucks need to go something around the lines of 14-4-3 in the last 21 games to make the playoffs. That is hard enough to do with the team as it is. if Kesler is traded you kiss the playoffs goodbye right now and say hi to a top 10 pick this June 3. some people are starting to get worried or pessimistic about the return the Canucks will get. i think people will be surprised when Canucks bring in the great return that they will get for Kesler. Here is a few reasons why the return will be great: he is the best player available right now his contract term and cap hit are extremely attractive there will be a bidding war for him MG holds all the cards here: he is not backed into a corner - Kesler is not demanding a trade, he is not a UFA in the summer, he is under contract for 2 more years 4. Now a lot of you are about to say either he is injury prone or he is not the player he once was. Newsflash, it does not matter for the most part. it is so rare for a player like this to come onto the market, but when they do teams jump at the chance to acquire them. in other words Kesler's upside along the with the large amount of interest from multiple teams will leave little to no room for GM's to complain about his issues. 5. this is both the most important and most simple thing to take away from this situation. IF THE OFFERS ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH, THEN MG DOES NOT HAVE TO TRADE HIM. This is not the goalie situation of last year. Kesler is not forcing a trade. He has publically come out to say that he is not asking for a trade and he likes being in Vancouver. On a personal level I believe that the guy who is Vancouver's #1 target in a Kesler trade would be Ryan Johanson. While the Canucks would probably love to get a package from Columbus that included Johanson, the odds of that happening are low. Johanson is having a breakout year and at this point im not even sure they would go for a one-for-one swap. I would absolutley be thrilled if the canucks made this work somehow
  21. what are his point totals now
  22. http://www.sportsnet...move-bo-horvat/ really caught my eye to see this video, here the run down: 1. canucks need serious help scoring, need a primary scorer not a secondary one 2. andrew ladd was used as a good fit for the canucks 3. the asking price the panel thought would start at would be Bo Horvat 4. Kyper said the would cost more Bo Horvat++ to get a first line guy like ladd NOTES: 1.Kyper admitted Horvat is "sexy top prospect" but you dont what hell be 2.Lawton claimed that the Sedin extension means that Van should do whatever it takes to win now, he went on with this point Bo Horvat will never win a cup with a team lead by the Sedins (guessing he was referring to development time and how much the Sedins have left in the tank) 3.The panel ended by stating that this is a tough decision but you need to give value to get value what do you guys think? P.S. i sorry for the spelling mistakes in the title i was typing fast
  23. Countdown on O'Reilly Circle Feb. 28 on your calendar. It’s as of that date that the trade freeze lifts on Ryan O'Reilly and the Colorado Avalanche can move the star player if it wishes to do so. They weren’t allowed to trade him for 12 months after matching Calgary’s offer sheet last Feb. 28. There are several teams we’ve spoken to over the past week that are eagerly anticipating Colorado’s decision on O’Reilly. Do they move him or keep him? He’s a restricted free agent July 1 whose qualifying offer costs $6.5 million. No small potatoes. Of course they can also sign him to an extension for less money if the player was up for that. If Colorado wants to seriously upgrade its defense corps, it likely needs to make a quality top-six forward available. Is that O’Reilly, pending UFA Paul Stastny or is there another way to get that defenseman? If the Avs do put O’Reilly on the trade market (and again, we don’t’ know if they ever will), there would be at least a dozen teams interested. One of them would likely be the Vancouver Canucks, who are said to covet O’Reilly and have depth at defense, which is what the Avs would be looking for. Food for thought… http://espn.go.com/blog/nhl/post/_/id/28795/rumblings-market-for-goalies-countdown-to-ryan-oreilly-decision
