  1. Guess this means Jose will be coming home. No team will forfeit a pick for 1 year of service.
  2. Lmao really? You just don't understand the mechanics of business. Wasting money on 2 Designated Hitters is NOT smart business. Whether Morales was good or bad is its own debate. Edit: Good job wasting your minus bud. You don't understand business simple as that.
  3. That makes no sense at all considering his position was already filled. The offer was on the table until they signed Kendrys Morales.
  4. The offer was pulled as soon as Kendrys Morales signed. I don't blame the Jays for moving on, but it is a legit argument.
  5. I'm going to play devils advocate here. The same fans who are mad we got Morales so early would have been more pissed off had we lost Edwin to Boston (which was likely at the time) and had no replacement lined up. Toronto did what they had to do after a $100M offer was turned down. I blame David Ortiz more than I do Jays management.
  6. My thoughts @TheRussianRocket. @ShakyWalton @Pears @ChuckNORRIS4Cup Tim and Sid ‏@timandsid 49m49 minutes ago According to @ShiDavidi the Jays offer to Encarnacion potentially included a 5th-year, $20M option. More
  7. Well if EE countered with 4x25M, it's pretty easy to see why the Blue Jays move on from that. That's Donaldson territory.
  8. What if they're competitive next year? You'll come back lol. We're losing a 34 year old DH. I know it sucks but it's really not the end of the world. If we lose Jose and do nothing, thats a different story. And plz no i just bought a Donaldson jersey for someone for Christmas. Edwin turned down a monster contract from his home team of almost a decade. Still can't believe he did that and that's why he isn't back next year.
  9. Me too, I'm really hoping they can bring back Jose Bautista at this point.
  10. Part of me thinks he didn't want to come back. He rejects 80M and writes a goodbye letter on Instagram. This man was ready to bolt to Boston and had already checked out from the Jays.
  11. No reason to not re-sign Jose Bautista now. Toronto got their draft pick.
  12. EDIT: Here's the actual link http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/report-edwin-encarnacion-signs-cleveland/ 20M annually.
  13. This is a billion dollar company that made a ton of cash off the Blue Jays.... so yes they should reinvest the money since it's coming from our pockets. As for the bolded, do you really not think we deserve it? We're the ones that go to games and buy merchandise to support the team. The fans are the ones that buy the overpriced food and beer at the venues. However I do think that $165M is a step in the right direction. You're quoting me like I'm complaining even though I never was. All I did was agree with another posters opinion.
  14. I agree, it should be as high as it can be before luxury taxes are applied. I've always hated Rogers more than any other Canadian company.
  15. We should be able to build a good team for $165M. That's what, 5th highest payroll? It should be a tad higher but i've heard it'll be up to $175M if things go right as the season progresses.
  16. Bautista realized that already. He just wants a 2 year deal at this point.
  17. Honestly after I watched the Heyman interview just now I changed my mind about Bautista. Management does not want him back. Heyman also doesn't believe Bautista turned down offers.
  18. Breaking: Edwin to CLE becoming a reality http://www.thescore.com/mlb/news/1189576
  19. http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/kinzer-encarnacion-realizing-probably-wont-blue-jay/ I honestly highly doubt EE comes back. I wouldn't get your hopes up because it'll just create more disappointment.
  20. Agreed. As @coastal.view said, it was just the agent trying to save face. Bautista will be back
