They got Cleveland to WS with a much smaller payroll. Thats where my faith stems from.
Cecil got way more than I would have thought, Bautista and Price I'm not too upset about. I mean if you're new to your job and some prick tells you they aren't willing to negotiate then goes and has the season he does, I wouldnt bring him back. Not to mention controversial comments.
Well not like any other team is offering him anything significant. Even though Ross Atkins said the chances are "lower" since they acquired Morales, he did say he'd love to have Edwin in a lineup with Martin, Morales, Donaldson and Tulo around him.
Don't mean to steal your thunder Shaky, but here's an interview from Atkins today RE: Edwin turning down the contract and Cecil signing elsewhere. Sounds like JB19 isn't even in the plans at all.

EDIT: About Odor jr, thats f***ed up..
I think what he meant by that is he wants us to have our fair share of playoff appearances within the AL East, I dont think he meant that literally. But I hope I'm wrong about EE too, I really do.
Although I don't think offering a 34 year old with health issues an 80M contract is being cheap. It's Kinzer trying to nickel and dime the jays.
I'm sure most of you have read this quote from Ross Atkins, but I'll paraphrase it here:
"Signing Morales does decrease the likelihood of bringing back Edwin Encarnacion, but has no effect on the status of Jose Bautista". He didn't close the door completely but this is obviously unsettling.
Honestly 4yr @ 20M is a fair offer, but if the rumours are true and 4yr @92M ends all of this, I'm all for it. I wouldnt do a penny more though. I'm already a tad uncomfortable with that.
Same, I hate the Yankees so much. Ranted about this 2 weeks ago to because I had a feeling.. Also you quoted me before I could fix stupid autocorrect lmao.
Not quite sure I'm a fan of that tbh. Would rather see 5 at 100. I think they'd take that.
Edit: That 5th year scares me but Id rather the Jays insist 20M
Was honestly thinking the exact same thing. Players of that calibre don't just walk away unless it's for a significant reason. Jays could always come up, but they probably don't seem too threatened right now. I'd be scared to give him that 5th year. Why not compromise and get a club option with an agreement that it wont be used unless he declined rapidly.
They already offered him 4yr x 20M per, which is a damn good deal. It's not about Rogers being cheap in this situation. I think that is more than fair for both EE and Jays. Not like any other teams have gone noticeably above that with him with their offers. Yankees and Red Sox haven't even talked contract with Edwin and they throw money at everyone. I bet EE returns with that exact deal.
Loving all these Astros moves. Hopefully this marks the end of the Rangers free pass.
Their entire fanbase was cheering for us in the ALDS. I can get behind any team like that.
