With how it stands now we technically have the cap space to sign two big ticket free agents. If we make a couple trades we could fit them in no problem. How realistic would that scenario be?
Keep in mind that after this season Boeser's contract will be up, and he'll obviously be due for a huge raise....Probably something around the 7 mill mark if he has another great season like the one he had last year. Best to save some cap space so we can be sure that we'll have the room.
I'm of the mind that management should either swing for the fences and go after Tavares/Carlson or stick to signing depth guys on affordable, short term contracts. I don't want to see any 5x5 deals given out to mid-range free agents.
