  1. If losing a prospect who’s 5 years away at least gets this kind of reaction over adding an immediate 45-55 points then people really need to sit down and straighten out their priorities.

Just because they were up against the cap and had to deal him doesn't mean that they wont miss JT Miller the player. We gave up a 17-31 OA pick, a nothing goalie, and a 3rd for a top 6 player with size on a good contract for 4 more years. You hope the 1st rd pick turns into a JT Miller in 5 years time.

@I.Am.Ironman - If the pick given up is actually between 17-31OA, then I have no problem with this deal. The problem is that if we miss the playoffs next year and the year after, there is always a chance that we lose a lottery pick in 2021. That is a big risk, particularly since this team has not yet shown it is playoff ready. Hopefully Miller helps us get there, but until it happens, this is a very risky deal.

The likelihood of missing playoffs each of the next 2 years is pretty low given our trajectory and prospects now transitioning to NHL. If we make the playoffs one of the next 2 years then the highest pick we give up will be 17thOA. Making a (reasonable) play for Myers or Ristolainen makes a lot of sense now.
