  1. Every single one of our last five first round picks have either missed the entire season or a good portion of it.
  2. I don’t even know what to say at this point...
  3. I think 6.5Mx5 would be perfect. Tell Myers he won’t get top pair minutes anywhere else, or on a team of Vancouver’s potential.
  4. Package Hutton and Goldobin together and see if you can get a 2nd or a 3rd round pick.
  5. Miller - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Nyquist That’s a pretty sweet top six
  6. We’d be cup favourites by 2022 at the LATEST if everything fell into place.
  7. That might be the best top nine we’ve ever had. Roll a 4th line of Roussel - Beagle - MacEwen and that is an incredible forward group.
  8. I think this draft was a B/B+ for sure because of Podkolzin and Hoglander alone.
  9. J.T. Miller is the perfect winger for Horvat. Bit of a price? Sure. But like for anything you gotta pay value to get value and he’s still only 26 and should be good for anywhere between 45-60 points, which alone will be an improvement. The only ones thinking this is our “Ottawa” moment, only want to look at the negatives and refuse to see how adding a guy like Miller is awesome for us. Let’s put it this way. If you’re sick of losing, like I’m sure we all are, would you rather bank on someone who will be drafted next year or 2021 while wasting valuable years of Horvat’s prime? Or get someone to help make the playoffs now? I’m thinking the answer should be pretty obvious.
  10. With the reactions to anything and everything Benning does it’s miracle anyone takes us seriously at all.

The Canucks twitterverse had a GD aneurysm when the trade went down. I thought it was a decent trade. Sucks the 1st is gone but the guy is 26, plays all forward positions, plays in all situations. But nnoooo everyone knows better.

Pick not being lottery protected is the only thing that bothers me (probably 50/50 chance we don't/will make the playoffs).

^ The pick is lottery protected.

  11. I think we go all in on Panarin and Gardiner Panarin - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Miller Roussel - Gaudette - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - MacEwen Edler - Gardiner Hughes - xxxx/Tanev Juolevi - Stecher Markstrom Demko That’s a pretty good group. Would like to get an upgrade on Tanev if we have the money though.
  12. xxxx - Pettersson - Boeser Pearson - Horvat - Miller Roussel - Gaudette - Virtanen Motte - Beagle - MacEwen Edler - xxxx Hughes - xxxx/Stecher Juolevi - Stecher/xxxx Markstrom Demko Need a top six forward and another defenseman or two, but when healthy that’s a pretty decent group.
  13. If losing a prospect who’s 5 years away at least gets this kind of reaction over adding an immediate 45-55 points then people really need to sit down and straighten out their priorities.

Just because they were up against the cap and had to deal him doesn't mean that they wont miss JT Miller the player. We gave up a 17-31 OA pick, a nothing goalie, and a 3rd for a top 6 player with size on a good contract for 4 more years. You hope the 1st rd pick turns into a JT Miller in 5 years time.

@I.Am.Ironman - If the pick given up is actually between 17-31OA, then I have no problem with this deal. The problem is that if we miss the playoffs next year and the year after, there is always a chance that we lose a lottery pick in 2021. That is a big risk, particularly since this team has not yet shown it is playoff ready. Hopefully Miller helps us get there, but until it happens, this is a very risky deal.

The likelihood of missing playoffs each of the next 2 years is pretty low given our trajectory and prospects now transitioning to NHL. If we make the playoffs one of the next 2 years then the highest pick we give up will be 17thOA. Making a (reasonable) play for Myers or Ristolainen makes a lot of sense now.

  14. And I’ll ask this. Would you rather get help now? Or bank on someone who could help the team in 6-7 years? I think the answer should be pretty obvious.
  15. We will be 100% after more moves are made. Even then, the pick will move to 2021 if we aren’t. Relax.
  16. Giving up a 1st is a bit tough, but considering it should be in the 20s the next couple years it’s fine for a guy like Miller, who’s perfect for Horvat and Pearson.
  17. Just a shame we should be too good to get a high pick, hence we’ll make the playoffs. It’s a deep enough draft where it shouldn’t matter where we pick.
