And if you cared to read a few posts down, I said I understood what he was doing. That still doesn’t excuse his absolute steaming pile of garbage that was his drafting. He set us back. Stanley Cup or no Stanley Cup.
We get hosed pretty hard in that LA trade, and I really wish we’d stop this Ferland thing. He gets hurt way too often, has been invisible in the playoffs so far and would cost too much for what he brings to the table.
He really is. Ever since he came to Cincinnati he’s been a pro’s pro and done all the right things. I remember being pretty vocal about disliking the pick but he has proven me wrong.
Mixon led the AFC in rushing yards last season behind the line that we had. Now that we have the best offensive line prospect in the draft and one of the best pure blocking TE’s he has a real good chance of being an all-around top 5 back next season.
Getting Williams and Taylor if we got 33 would’ve been amazing. Yes Sample was a reach but if he’s a pure blocking TE, and a good one at that, I think we’ll be ok.
Zucker would be a legit guy for either Pettersson or Horvat. If Frolik and a pick would’ve been all it took for Calgary to get him, would Goldobin and a 2020 2nd or 3rd be enough?
Which is fair and I understand that. But at the end of the day, we are where we are because of Gillis. Benning is just now starting to get room to work with.
Looking at our first three picks, the team is telling me we want to:
- Give Mixon an actual offensive line to run behind
- Keep Dalton on his feet for longer than half a second
Ok let’s test that theory
Traded a 3rd round pick for Andrew Alberts
Traded 2nd and 3rd round picks for Steve Bernier (lol)
Traded Bernier, Hordichuk and a 1st round pick for Keith Ballard and Darcy Hordichuk
Traded Kevin Connauton and a 2nd for UFA Derek Roy
Traded 2 4ths for Samuel Pahlsson
Gave up Cody Hodgson who was having a fine rookie season for Zack Kassian
How many impact players do you see there?
