Well if we’re being honest, how many times will you get an opportunity to acquire a 25 year old right handed defenseman who’s just entering his prime for a relatively low cost (mid first round pick)? I think anyone can understand why they jumped at that.
Also, if they weren’t able to move salary out like pretty much every other team in the NHL, then I can’t really fault them. Worst case scenario we hang on to a guy like Garland for this year and see if he can rejuvenate his value with a bounce back season and start Pearson and/or Poolman on LTIR which will get us under the salary cap.
