  1. I really hope this is as easy as you make it seem.
  2. I completely agree. Those test will really help to figure out where his weight should be. I just think 225 for a 6' 2.25" 18 year old is a little high. But that being said, I can't wait for the test results.
  3. Actually if that is Ritchie's height and weight he needs to lose at least 10 pounds.
  4. Yes. I think there is a much better chance of him going after 15th than before.
  5. I agree. He sure won't be effective at driving the net and battling in the corners.
  6. I agree his playing style is not a perimeter player. That being said, I wish that he was. He is able to handle the puck and battle in the corners and in front of the net in the Q, but he won't be able to in the NHL. If he got his points from playing a perimeter style, like Pat Kane, I think Ehlers' skillset would be more likely to transfer in an effective way to the NHL.
  7. Very interesting. I am not too sure about the accuracy of his size. Eliteprospects says he is 6'4" 205 and it says his twin brother is 5'10" 174 that seems kind of funny if true.
  8. I don't like Ehlers, but I would have to agree not drafting a player because we have a "similar" prospect is really dumb.
  9. I like Bigwhite06 videos. But this one makes me dislike Ehlers even more. The majority of the goals on the video were not NHL goals. He is not going to be able to skate around defencemen in the NHL like he does in the Q. Go watch Bigwhite06 video of Virtanen or Ritchie for that matter to see NHL goals. People are impressed with Ehlers' speed but Virtanen will be a much more effective skater at the NHL level. He may be a notch below Ehlers in sheer speed and agility, but his larger frame will allow him to implement his speed better at the NHL level.
  10. How crazy is it to think that Burke might take Ritchie at 4? They have less depth at RW than C or LW. He's the big, "truculent" player Burke likes. I think it's pretty unlikely but who knows with Burke. It would be great for us.
  11. I wouldn't put too much stock in how long they interviewed prospects or for that matter who they interviewed. The more important aspect is who they didn't interview.
  12. Perhaps they have completely given up on hockey...
  13. I have heard the top players in the 15 draft are very good. Any word on the depth of the draft? As good as 13?
  14. I know we are all excited about having the 6th pick. It has been a while since we have picked that high. Even though guys like Ritchie, Ehlers, Virtanen, etc are good prospects they are unlikely to be a big component to turn around the franchise. Our prospect pool even including this years 6th pick will be in the bottom third of the league. We need to move up in the draft. The difference in quality between a top 3 pick and the 6th pick is massive. That is how you start to rebuild.
  15. You seem to forget that at the trade deadline there were less players available to go to playoff teams (less than 10 teams were actually sellers at that point). Demand was high and supply was low. Also Kesler only has 2 playoff runs vs 3 he had on deadline. Now that the supply is higher, either through trades or free agency, one could expect Kesler's value to be lower. Moreover, there is more time during the offseason which means less pressure for potential suitors (they won't make knee-jerk offers in response to other teams moves as is often the case on deadline day). Thus, I think Kesler's value and the offers we will receive have dropped. But there is always the chance that a team will overpay--I really hope this is what happens.
  16. I think even though there may be more suitors this offseason. Kesler's value has dropped since the trade deadline. Those teams could have picked him up for 3 playoff runs now they only get him for two playoff runs.
  17. I agree it is a bit of a risk and having Kesler now is nice. But a guy like Reinhart/Ekbald seems unlikely to be a bust. Reinhart could be a Toews 2.0. It would be really nice to get a top talent like that who is 18 years old instead of having an aging player like Kesler. We aren't going to be competing for the cup in the next couple years why waste Kesler's current value.
  18. Here is a hypothetical: Would you trade the 6th pick for nothing if it made Kesler 12 years younger? If you would then it makes sense to trade both Kesler and the 6th for the 1st pick because in that scenario it is likely the player will be better than Kesler and 12 years younger. (I am not saying the 1st pick would be better than Kesler right away obviously).
  19. With the first overall pick you can all but guarantee a better player than Kesler. Not too mention said player would be 12 years younger than Kesler. So yeah it would probably take Kesler plus the 6th.
  20. Just trade Kesler and the 6th to Florida for the 1st. If Florida and Kesler would do it...
  21. I could get on board with Ritchie if he does well at the combine. Hopefully he weighs-in under 230. He needs to be in the upper echelon as far as strength tests go (to show that his weight is in fact muscle). And perhaps most importantly, he needs to perform adequately in the cardio tests (to squash the rumours that he takes shifts off because of his conditioning).
  22. You think the Oilers wouldn't draft Ekblad at 3?
  23. Speaking of Perlini, did anyone see how his dad killed it in England? http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=71611
