  1. Well, you gotta figure they bring back three vets to play with the kids in Utica, they're starting to run out of spots for defensemen. Even with Webber and Andersson likely gone they're running out of room. The thing is, we don't know what they think of Subban, they might think his game doesn't translate to the pros.
  2. Good news, I'm not surprised, with Shore leaving it was looking like a rebuilding year again there. I'm still thinking maybe Subban is the odd man out here.
  3. I don't understand why so many people are apparently so disappointed in Virtanen's point totals this year. Last season he he had 71 points in 71 games; this year so far he's totaled 45 points in just 41 games. That is a slight increase in offensive production, Last year he scored 42 goals and everyone complained about his low assist totals and presumed lack of playmaking ability and hockey sense; critics like Craig Button said he was a one trick pony than took the puck to the net strong but didn't use his line mates. This year he becomes more of a playmaker and we hear all this grumbling about low offensive totals. Sure he hasn't taken a big step forward, but he has not regressed at all, why all the fuss?
  4. I'm not sure where Jason Botchford is getting his information from, but it doesn't sound like Hutton has decided anything yet regarding turning pro now or returning to Maine for his senior year., according to Hutton himself: https://bangordailynews.com/2015/03/09/sports/umaine-sports/devin-shore-leaving-umaine-to-begin-pro-hockey-career/ By Larry Mahoney, BDN Staff Posted March 09, 2015, at 8:15 p.m. Junior defenseman Ben Hutton, a fifth-round draft pick of Vancouver and the 147th overall pick, said he hasn’t made a decision on his future yet. Hutton has been Maine’s top scoring defenseman all three years and his 28 career goals leave him four behind the career high shared by Jack Capuano and the late Andre Aubut. Hutton had nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in 39 games and his nine goals tie him for fourth in the country among defensemen. He led the country’s defensemen in goals (15) and power-play goals (9) a year ago and was the first Maine defenseman to ever lead the team in goals. “Everything is up in the air,” said Hutton. “I haven’t decided anything yet. “It’s my goal and everybody’s goal to go pro, whether I have the opportunity now or after next season,” said Hutton. He said no matter what happens, he feels he will continue to develop. “[Gendron] pushes us every day to get better. He doesn’t let us slack off even in the last five minutes of practice,” said Hutton. “He wants to make sure we continue to get better.” Hutton said if he hears from the Canucks, he will discuss the decision with his family. He expects next year’s Maine team to be good. “We should have a very strong team,” said Hutton. “We will have some holes to fill. We didn’t perform as well as we should have this season. But we’ll work to get better throughout the summer and be ready to go out to try to win a national championship.” He thought he and his mates played very well against Vermont and deserved a better fate. “That’s the way hockey is sometimes. Unfortunately, the hockey gods weren’t with us this weekend. If we had played the way we did in Vermont throughout the whole season, we would have been sitting pretty heading into the playoffs,” he said.
  5. I was going to add earlier that the status next year of Hutton's classmate Devin Shore (draftniks will remember him being conspicuously available the year we took Mallet) may play into his decision as Shore is the 'franchise player' for Maine, so to speak. Well, it didn't take Shore long to sign with Dallas: Stars sign forward Shore to entry-level contract http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=757404
  6. One of Lorne Greene's greatest, as lost classic of sorts:
  7. Well he'll have to wait until August 2016 to do it, I think. Not sure why he'd want to though, perfect situation for defense prospects right here. Plenty of opportunity.
  8. Maine's season more than likely ended today with another loss. Now I guess we''ll soon see if he signs for the rest of the AHL season or decides to return. I wouldn't bet against him signing.
  9. I'll bet they call him 'Barts' or 'Barty'. We'll find out soon enough!
  10. Yeah, I heard that, they're in an enviable position with all those picks. Benning has just confirmed he was thinking short term with this trade, doesn't want to wait two or three years for a pick to develop. Oh brother!
  11. Now if we can just move our first we'll be set for another draft to remember like 2010!
  12. Another second gone for yet another useless Linden Vey-lite type. Canadian franchise disease - always playing the short game
  13. McCann might have a shot at team Canada next year - the NHL next year is doubtful even for Virtanen.
  14. That makes sense, He's played left wing every game this year!.
  15. Not only that, they seem to think he's a year older than he really is. I wonder whose vital stats those are, because they're not Brendan Gaunces!
  16. He's been picking it up, it seems.
  17. Seguin is actually covered in tattoos chin down. Bad likeness - guy looks like an ex-con; he's not good enough to polish the Sedin's shoes.
  18. Maine vs Notre Dame is televised tonight. Coming up at 4 pm Pacific on TSN 2.
  19. The Collectors, Tom Northcott, Northwest Company on the WHERE IT'S AT Special were introduced by British recording star Lulu, voted Britain's Top Female Recording Artist of 1967 who had her own TV series on BBC TV. This is Part 2 of the one hour black & white special which aired on June 26 1968 and presented the best of Vancouver, British Columbia's talent in the 1960s.to Canadian audiences on CBC TV. The special led to a half hour series of the same name. On Part 2 Tom Northcott performs his 2 biggest hits "Sunny Goodge Street" and Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country", the Northwest Company (with psychedelic rear screen projection & go-go dancers) sing a Rock 'n Roll medley (Rock and Roll Music, Summertime Blues, Long Tall Sally, Good Lovin',) and the Collectors perform "What is Love?" from their first album The Collectors.
  20. I have a feeling this one tonight is going to be good.

    1. Tortorella's Rant

      Tortorella's Rant

And we'll probably generate 17 shots.

    2. Brad Marchand

      Brad Marchand

Canucks will win 9-0 despite registering -19 shots.

  21. I think Hickey, DeHaan, Leddy and Rundblad have been better than you think, and all have a chance to improve yet some more. Good blog read overall though. Thanks!
