  1. They're stacked with 19 year old first and second round NHL draft choices. I wouldn't rule out a long OHL post season Memorial Cup run.
  2. I actually believe Bo has been rewarded by Desjardins with more ice when he's played better, not the reverse. Interesting chicken and egg scenario, I know.
  3. Yeah, I thought they were kind of reserving the 'c' for Bo too; he was the obvious choice. That's too bad, I hadn't heard.
  4. This was a great performance tonight by Horvat, the goal was just the icing on top.
  5. I've been there with you from the beginning my friend. The visibility is so poor over here on the dark side (bein' that it's so dark and all) that I guess we're having trouble seeing each other. There's never been a moment in this process where I thought, based on what I had seen, that Horvat was ready to make an actual contribution at the NHL level yet. Not last season, not in the pre season. But when Stan Smyl said something along the lines of 'he can't improve anymore playing junior hockey' I realized that the Canucks might be about to embark upon this road that they are on now with him. I think it's the wrong thing to do, but plenty of teams operate this way. I was hoping The Steamer was expressing a personal opinion, but it looks like faulty group think now, doesn't it.
  6. And O'Reilly was a second round pick at that. Realistically, that sort of thing almost never happens. When we drafted Horvat I was very pleased with the pick, and looked forward to him cracking the lineup in 2015 or 2016. So far, so good, as far as I'm concerned, although a big 19 year old season in London is key to the development formula, and Benning is messing that up somewhat.
  7. Not to pile on the kid, but Bo was beaten cleanly on the draw at center ice on that goal, the one that came eleven seconds after we had just been scored against. Willie threw the fourth line out there after a goal against and paid the price for it in that situation.
  8. You make some valid points, but Mantha is a 20 year old CHL grad, not an underage like Horvat. And Mantha is a pretty dynamic offensive talent as well. He's much farther along development wise than Horvat is. Horvat would be under no such NHL roster consideration if he were Wing's property.
  9. Horvat needs to improve his agility, mobility and flexibility in my opinion. His skating seems adequate at this point, but he looks stiff out there to me. He looks quite a bit like Iain Duncan when the Jets signed him out of Bowling Green and plugged him right into the lineup back in '86 to me.
  10. The list goes on and on really. This seems to be a peculiarity of hockey culture. It's almost like an entitlement thing that first round picks and their agents expect, and it's something that only a few clubs like Detroit are willing to buck.
  11. Agreed, I'm really concerned about the way this is unfolding so far. Being the twelfth or thirteenth forward on the NHL roster at nineteen, well, I'm unpleasantly surprised that Benning has gone this far down that road.
  12. Lazar is 0-3-3 in 14 games and the Sens have burned half a year of his entry level contract. How much you want a bet he sees time in Binghampton next year.
